Very interesting results from todays games.

Don't know which is a bigger result, the RP win or CB loss.

Really poor by Oak Park. They finished off last year by losing to Jacana and have now lost to Roxy. Big trouble. I still think in the end they will avoid relegation by percentage but now it is full panic stations.

Big win by Westmeadows. They are always hard to beat at home, or is it also that Craigieburn don't play well away from home either?

World beaters East Keilor looked in trouble earlier today as well. HS are the best team they have played so far and was not a convincing win. EK vs Westy in a few weeks time will be there first true test

Tullamarine vs Taylors Lakes result was to be expected.

Great win today at Lakeside and with good kicking the margin should have been more. Even better when you consider Ferras didn't play and Sammy hasn't played all season yet. Big game from McLarty up forward who's a good young kid. Backline were huge in the last term when the kangas had the breeze. The skipper was massive in tight as usual.

Interesting results elsewhere. Didn't see Hiilside getting that close to EK based on previous results . Still no clear premiership favorite

Who ever said Morrison is the best Ruckman in division 1 are kidding themselves.
Westmeadows way to strong across the board..
Also what’s with limbach playing?? Poor bloke couldn’t move
Way to strong across the board for a 3 point victory?? Not sure Eagles will be too worried with plenty to come back

Westy should have won by more in the end and had full control all day. Eagles may not be worried this early but did not look up to Westy standard. Eagles have a few to come back like Boghetti , Viani , Young but so do Westy. Church has only played a half of the round 1 game this year with injury and hearing his travelling very solid off field for a come back in a couple weeks , Franchina could be season but unconfirmed and whispers on returning late in season and Omar Abdallah a chance to return before schools out. Eagles will bounce back but full credit to Westy on the start of their season.

EK first test against Westy in a couple weeks. Tulla looking strong. Relegation looking early for Oak Park

Omar Abdallah no chance this season I have heard he needs a knee reco

Take it easy Morrison was CB best player in the first 2 games. Not as good yesterday but either were 21 of his team mates. Agree Limbach no impact whatsoever, does not looks even half fit. With respect to WM i dont think CB fired a shot at all yesterday, were pretty poor so to go down by 3 points is the only positive they will take out of the game. Eagles came hard late siren came at the perfect time for Westy. Margin did flatter the eagles full credit to the tigers played some great team football and deserved the win. Game was played in good spirits.

Mate got it from a good source no relegation in div 1. 10 teams in dub 1 next year.

If true I don’t agree with this. Why should it change the rules. Bring 2 sides up from div2 or at least allow them the first opportunity.
So if this happens then it could affect final 4 if % play a part at end of year. What incentive does it give sides to avoid relegation.

Rupertswood coming to edfl next season

I did hear that as well. If true they should go directly into div1 and the relegation promotion stays as is..

Another club also interested and I believe wants to play div2. So that’s great for EDFL

In 2012 and 2013 no one was relegated from div 1, saving westy and c’burn. So it seems to be the EDFL preferred option rather than promoting 2 teams.
They were both playing finals within a few seasons.

Hard to imagine an OP side featuring Pascu, Kennedy, Rajab and Kirk Lang getting relegated but signs are not looking good. Are their top players not performing or is there no depth to support them?

Huge win for westy that will be crucial for them to push for a finals spot as I can’t see the top 3 dropping many games.

Good to see HS pushing EK.
Two young home grown forwards at either end looking primed for big seasons. Hill 16 goals in 3 games and Coletta 12 in 2 games.

Only happened the one year, when westy finished bottom.

2012 started with 14 teams in b grade and they split the top 8 and bottom 6 after 13 rounds. Westy finished bottom of the top 8 and east Keilor won the c grade premiership. Neither were relegated or promoted.
2013 div 1 had 8 teams, fairly certain c’burn finished last. Hillside won div 2 and were promoted. No one was relegated which gave div 1 the 9 team structure it has now.

All correct apart from Westy finished bottom in 2013 but were not relegated. Cburn never finished bottom.

Cburn had a few out, and they’ll bounce back heavily this week against roxy
Think limbach and big Bellino will have a day out this week who have Roxy got to play on them

you could be right. They might have a player driven alcohol ban, team rule in the EK thirds. Then again, maybe not.
And who may I ask are the "better clubs"? Just out of interest.

I’m referring to clubs that accept and act unprofessional off field and don’t act to improve things. My point is I went and watched HS v EK yesterday and some of the crowd abuse from EK supporters needs to be addressed. A group of about 20-25 supporters at one stage of the 2nd quarter were inside the boundary fence sitting on the grass on the far side not far from EK Bench. This group was very loud and language was atrocious towards opposition players. Someone should have addressed this from EK as this could create a major incident between players and supporters. It’s not good enough. The fence is there for a reason..

Watched the HS v EK game yesterday. One of the best div1 games I’ve seen in a long time. Both sides playing hard and showing good skills. Fast ball movement and all players committed. Couple of spot fires in the 2nd quarter but other than that a fair contest.

EK guns in Lyons and Josh Grabowski we’re the difference in the end. Lyons all class on the inside or outside and he uses all his possessions with poise. J.Grabowski is a gun. His run especially against the breeze and in the last 1/2 was telling. A class above this level of footy.
To have a couple of mids who have played higher footy was the difference between the 2 sides.
Hill appeared to gain an injury in the 2nd quarter but was well beaten and 3 of his goals were over the back. I hear his getting well paid and he dropped easy marks and not clean below his knees. I’m sure he goes well against the lower teams but his overrated. He would struggle in premier.
How is Phillpot getting a game. He was a very good player in his prime (and one of the best ruckman in the comp when at Marby) but his well past his best and struggled all game. It was actually embarrassing. I can’t see how his playing in front of others and I hear some players not happy at EK.

HS Coletta was on fire with 3 goals in the 1st quarter and played well. EK made the change early and put Arrowsmith on him. Colettas marking and kicking for goal was a highlight. Volpato was good in the middle with his clearance work and Micallef was good in the second half.

Overall the class of EK line up was stronger than the HS line up. I did notice EK played at the max 47 points and heard a bit of talk that maybe it was over 47. Interesting..

If they happen to win it and go up this will be a major issue and doesn’t leave enough room to recruit.

Westy bearing CB has thrown the race right open..

Yes was a top game and HS really came to play. Their physicality and ability to win clearances for the first 3 quarters combined with Coletta being on fire was impressive. When Arrowsmith went to him it became a great tussle, Ash was very good too. I feel the three weeks EK had not played for was a factor. Lachlan Rayner in the ruck was controlling the centre bounces and jumping all over EK rucks.
Cooper Perry missed because of points. I doubt this will happen again soon and he was missed, along with Van derbyl being concussed very early . This threw the EK forward structures right out and I thought Dion Hill played a lone hand up front often against two or three defenders, he kicked 5, he played well IMO. Josh Grabowskis last quarter was huge and changed the game. It was a hard, tough fought win that will please the EK coach and supporters.
Top game and both sides can be proud with their efforts

Why did he have to miss because of points? Surely this would be sorted out when selecting the sides?

I think the big guns from both sides impacted the game equally.

It is the next level EK have compared to Hillside which is the difference.

J.Madden, Barrett, Caluzzi, N.Grabowski, Pettigrove, Kett, Palazzolo, Madaffari would all be walk up starts in Hillside team.

Westmeadows & EK performing so well makes the flag race in this division very exciting.
