Looks very different this year across all divisions with the EDFL having limited use of Windy hill unfortunately. Only the Premier and div 1 Grand finals to be played there out of all the finals. Personally i really like watching finals at local grounds. Keilor and Glenroy good venues, and with big crowds i think provide a fantastic atmosphere and something a little different. Greenvale probably the best venue but assuming the premier cricket club doesn't allow them to host any finals there which is a shame. Also love the top 5, more games more teams at the best time of the year. Premier and div 1 should be top 5 moving forward.

This is a problem that has never been addressed. Each year the main show is dictated to by 3rd parties. It’s about time the EDFL locked in a finals venue structure regardless of 3rd party availability. If possible Windy Hill for all Grand Finals then say all lead up finals for Premier at Greenvale, Div 1 at Keilor, Div 2 at Glenroy. It would lock away finals on an ongoing process with councils, cricket, planning and logistics for clubs and EDFL. It would mean first week of finals games on Sat and Sun at the same venue, so be it.

Did I see Todd Elton do his hamstring then at half time get his bag, get into car and go home ?

Congrats to West Coburg on their Minor Premiership. A massive win today and should go 18-0 through the regular season.

Great showing by Keilor Park today. Really took it to Rupo and made them work all day for the win.

The top 5 settled and we could see round 18 be the first week of finals too.

Knew I should have taken HS by more was quietly confident. Putting on a great game.
They were fantastic today. All the hype I've heard about Bailey Ryan is justified. Kids tore the game a new one. Nobody could stop him. Ran hard, took contested grabs and kicked goals from everywhere. Kicked 5 I think. Spoke to him after the game and he's also a great kid. They will be desperate to hold onto him but he looks destined for bigger things. Absolute jet

Great post UTR. He always comes into the rooms and is a great kid and always respectful. Comes from a good family. He puts a lot of effort in over the summer. Plus his loyal as!

Did you offer him the Roxy coaching job? 😜 Kidding mate.

Enjoy the night buddy

Heard we've got some irons in the fire so to speak.

Big Josh is still a force to be reckoned with too. I thought Potter played him pretty well most of the day by playing off him from behind and going for the spoil instead of bodying him up. When it came to a wrestle he was never going to win. Had a good laugh with Josh before he left too. He's always had some good banter over the fence but had also had a good laugh after the game. I did hear around the traps this night be his last game in the 1s... any truth to the turbo?

Josh loves the crowds and a bit of banter. Being a big unit glad it’s only banter 😄 He also adds the strength to compliment the younger players so his vital in that side.
Not sure if his playing 1st remaining games but maybe he will drop back and return for finals as HS can’t really go above 4th place. They definitely need him to compete against the top 3. As mentioned he doesn’t get injured playing Rupo, HS probably win comfortably.

Good result from westy this week some real good performances from Aaron Evans Ryan Capro and number 14, couple good young kids running around as well

Aaron Evans and Shaun O’Grady both having big games. One of the best games I’ve seen the team play over the years, very unselfish players who want to play for each other and the jumper instead of themselves. Give them a bit of time to build on it.. Sparks, Kosteas, Smith all had great games, future leaders of the club.

1 game & 6% behind Tulla, any chance to avoid relegation?

Will be very interesting if Westy beat Cragieburn next week. If they win, relegation could come down to the last game of the season.. KP v Westmeadows. It would be the opposite to a grand final but would be a fantastic game, with Westy beating KP in their last game.

Westmeadows ruckman would be right in the mix. He has been a level above all year.

Just on HS, having ex Capt Hayes back from injury and stringing regular games back into his body is a huge plus for them. He just works on the inside and is tough as they come. His got a bigger body and he compliments the younger outside speed. Plus his a loyal servant of HS so hope he can stay fit and finish the season hard.

Thoughts UTR?

Yeah agreed there. Big Rusi is also a bit of a handful. Think clubs coming up against guys like Rusi and Carlisle are better off having a more leaping ruckman then a ruck who likes to stand and body at the contest because both are just too big to move. Only real hope of winning the tap is to jump over the top of them both.

Having said that I think rox might have won the centre clearances on the weekend but forward of centre the Sharks were electric. I don't want to sound like a certain poster in the premier forum because I know it's that time of the year, but we've been cruelled by injuries late in the season. Hayden Farrelly, Patane, Capuano, Naggs, Boudoloh, McLarty all missing from the side that beat Hillside earlier in the season. I understand that the Sharks had a few out as well speaking to Hillside people on the weekend but that's 4 of our back 6 on that list, one of our best mids and a proven goal kicker. Always gonna struggle with them out. I know Ryan didn't play that game and Josh was injured early that day but it's still a big turnover

A very difficult thing to pick when majority watch one game a week at the most!
Will be interesting to see how the coaches see it this season with clubs not seeing everyone twice. For me the easiest decision would be Dale May, think Bray, Farrelly and Jacobs have been great against expectations but May is 16-0 and almost certainly enter finals undefeated. Great achievement in a very competitive division. From what Ive seen my squad would be :

WC - D.Cleary. Baravi. Lucas. McCallum. Taha. Saad. Martini.

DP - Morrish. Elton. Greenough. Cannolo. Bol.

RW - McRorie. Saad. Tentenello.

HS - Wunhym. Prestia. Petitgrove. Ryan.

SA - Miccalef. Sims. Kretiuk. Taban.

RP - Short. Elliott.

CB - Gorgievski. Carlisle. Laffan.

KP - Castello.

MV - Newell. Robortella.

TM - Vocale. Smith.

WM - Delbridge. Evans.

GL - Nil

Cheers mate. Big Rusi is probably carrying some extra kgs 😆😆 if he was to get himself fit he does go well as seen in finals about 4-5 years ago.

Yes mate injuries to key players at any club will hurt but especially Roxy where their depth has always been an issue, plus no under 18s as well. Correct me if I’m wrong there.
Also once finals are out of the equation it also can mean lower numbers to training and trying to get players up mentally. But as discussed it’s a tough area to get juniors and even seniors to a point.
Best of luck for the rest of the season buddy 👍
