Facts
great game at StA yesterday until half way through the 3rd.
Cheap shot 100m off the ball by an ex hillside player from StA, (goal umpire report), ball went from a throw in, from the backline of HS to a shot at goal.
Next- scuffle broke out just before 3Qtr time siren, on wing (StA side), both teams heavily involved. siren sounds, 2 spectators from hillside side of ground ran over when they arrived so did officials from StA, the above mentioned spectator (cant confirm who he is, dont know him) pulled out a couple of HS players, and was then confronted and pushed by a StA offical from their bench, he then moved away quickly think he s**t himself....
Hillside then retreated and made it back the middle of the ground, by then hillside spectators made it to the middle of the ground and were confronted with stalbans players and spectators who were following hillside players (not staying on their side).
Umpires then walked off.
HS players went to their wing.
number 60 StA then charged towards the hillside spectators and was restrained by their water person and number 33 (stA). and dragged back towards their side of ground.
spectators from both side and STA players then started to push / shove and fight. seen no 2 punch a spectator.
security then showed up, and number 10 and 33 from StA were pushing their own players and spectators back toward their side. (good on them)
The entire incident that started 20m from the boundary ended up in the middle of the ground as StA kept coming at HS, even though the players had already left.
Hillside then left the ground, to which they were greeted with more hostility trying to get in their rooms, some got back in there others did not and had to retreat back on the ground, where they were met by any StA spectators.
28 from hillside was then pulled to the ground by a man with a handbag (looked cute) and was struck from behind by the StA VP multiple times to the body, then head. StA officals then dragged him away.
Back at the rooms, a couple of StA supporters then attempted to get into HS rooms.
cops were called. HS were not allowed out of rooms for 10-15 mins, and then escorted out by cops. (approx 25) great looks for a local footy game, this stuff is usually reserved for soccer!
what a fun day at the footy, great game of footy, followed by fight night.
I know it take 2 sides to fight, but it was well and truly one sided, with only 1 side wanting to fight.

believe me or not, but not a good look for all involved
Facts you say?? Must have one eyed glasses!!
I’ll give you some facts from my one eyed glasses which might be more accurate no 60 ex Hillside player hit after getting rid of ball behind play and retaliated(yes wrong) won’t mention hillside players number but was a st Albans player previously.
Hillside spectators ran from opposite side of ground to get involved in a pretty minor melee between players which was where the st Albans 3/4 time huddle would have been hence why st Albans spectators we’re heading in that direction (so yeah it was st Albans not sticking to there side of the ground you say) don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story champ

One thing I will agree with us spectators/ officials fighting with players is not on and was unacceptable.

Have seen some mobile phone footage of the VP punching the hillside player in the ribs, from behind as well, while other st albans supporters are attacking the player.. absolute disgrace and should be removed from his role at the club!!

So what would you suggest happen to that same player that was saying “I will f’n kill you” your mate cropped that video clip pretty well 😂😂

Can you post the rest of the vision and what occurred near the gate and went on & on towards the other side of the club rooms towards one player. That was totally unacceptable.
Which part? Didn’t think you would want the very clear and explicit threats to kill someone to come out from your “one HS player”

I thought Stewart down back for Rupp was excellent and repelled alot of foward 50s ..deer park had an abundance inside 50s but the team plan to appear to have players flood back doesn't seem to work.for Deer park.you can't play one foward less at times .the playing of number 20 for deer park up the ground who is a gun back man backfired as rupo made most of their opportunities up foward..its early days and deer park are strong and have talent all over the field and will settle as the season evolves..west coburg look the goods at this stage
Long, long way to go. I saw enough to suggest Deer Park will be right in there at seasons end. I maintain they all weren't on the same page and that's ok too because you don't win flags in May, and if any team knows how to win a Premiership it's Deer Park.

Firefly, this is going nowhere.
If players are fighting or a melee is on at the siren supporters should just stay off the ground till it dies down. Yes supporters of both clubs were involved in the middle of the ground.

What happened after the players were exiting the ground was a total disgrace. Why are spectators approaching the players? Let them leave the ground. It’s a sport and they have the courage to play this great game. Was any player from either side seriously hurt in the melee? I didn’t see anything in that melee that warranted spectators approaching players. I’ve seen plenty worse things happen so if this is the attitude of a number of people to carry on and create absolute chaos is a disgrace. This player was then attacked by multiple people and protected by a number of others. To come from behind and drag him to the ground, then king hit him and another punching him in the ribs is absolutely shocking to see. Just a pack mentality and from behind. All because of what??
If players want to tangle then let the players sort it out. If spectators carry on and want to fight go elsewhere. But spectators attacking players and not letting them leave the field in peace is disgusting.
Trying to get into the changerooms to continue on. Wow that wasn’t great.
Why didn’t all players just head inside changerooms post the game being called off and cool down.

Going to be interesting how the edfl handle this.

Oh otherwise it was a great day at St Albans other than no food. Great set up down there.
Regarding 300club ( or whatever it’s called) that set up is excellent. Most appear to be enjoying themselves and just having a laugh. Most clubs would be jealous of that!

And if they thought to add extra security then they should have also considered the 80-150 people apparently on the free piss from midday in a section outside near the club entrance. That’s just a recipe for disaster by 3/4 time when all this took place. I agree there is history and both sets of supporters can yell carry on etc but let the on field scuffles be sorted by the players and officials.
Free piss hahahahaha yous are a bunch of clowns you blokes…Bunch of know it alls with assumptions about the whole situation there was spotfires everywhere yet yous all know exactly what happened and who caused what just shut your mouths and let the league handle it all. Wannabe Damien Barrett losers

Patty M I was interested in reading the Wrfl thread, sounds like St.Albans have a history of these type of issues in Wrfl.

Is that correct?
As far as I am aware it is 100% correct. My old neighbours son (I now live interstate) plays in under 18s for altona and seen a similar thing happen there but it was something more along the lines of a group of ST A spectators/players chase down 1 altona supporter and laid the boots into him while he was on the floor. For what reason I do not know as I wasn't there. Just relaying what I was told. But it definatley went to the tribunal.

That wouldn’t be the time an Altona supporter was hurling racial abuse and st Albans African players now would it? Or is that behaviour condoned and sticking up for the players not condoned ?

Well there we go did you forget to mention that turbo?
Why would I mention that when it’s absolute BS
Get your facts straight before you carry on like a goose Sydenham supporters ran on first and king hit people weak as piss
Bingo please explain. HS Supporters king hit people. I didn’t see or hear of that.
2 people ran on from that side and a lot had already entered from near the social club entrance. The siren was blown though and game abandoned.
You will see one person who runs on actually goes to ground to pick up someone from the ground who appears to be injured to get him out of the area as people were coming onto the ground in numbers. Probably more a safety thing but will agree it didn’t look ideal. He definitely didn’t hit anyone and the vision posted clearly shows that. His reputation will also confirm that and be backed up by ex hillside people now at SA.

To part, I agree. What I don’t is that you blatantly disregard your HS player repeatedly yelling threats to kill and automatically redirect. You seem to have seen quite a lot but ever so shy away from fact - last time I checked people have been jailed for it.

No food in the canteen? Must have run out of your preferred option when you went there - maybe you could have walked into the bistro and ordered take away??? Pretty impressive to have both options. Our canteen volunteers work their asses off for very little appreciation from spectators like yourself but I’m sure if you were ordering something they would have likely had it ready for you if you were patient.

Better yet, why didn’t you pay to go in the 300 club? You could have had all the food you wanted 😂 It was never an issue at previous practice matches with many HS supporters heading in.

What many HS commenters are forgetting is that both clubs have always agreed to host PMs but now St Albans are in the EDFL you all suddenly hate us…weird…

Ohh you forgot that part when Altona was also hurling abuse throwing out sexist remarks to a female trainer

Like I said bingo I wasn't there I'm just relaying what I was told. I did hear something about racial abuse but apparently where that abuse came from is where the game was filmed by the videographer and the league listened to the audio and nothing racist was said. But who knows if there was racial abuse then that's definatley not acceptable. There is absolutely no room for racism what so ever in any sport or at all as a matter of fact.

I am a local, non supporter of either team but what I witnessed from a Hillside supporter running onto the field at the 3 qtr siren was what instigated the whole situation.

Last year's captain of Hillside ran from their bench to get involved in the scuffle.

#16 Hillside in goal square disgusting
#28 came for the punches not the play

Not sure about canteen running out of food but I did witness a tray of pies etc being carried out...not forgetting a full bistro running inside

Close game that got called of 3/4 time....no sore losers in my eyes....good game thus far in my opinion.

good call by umpires

St Albans club managed situation very well. Again in my opinion, i felt Sharks came out wanting blood since players left to go to opposing club
Please take a moment here. I seen the incident in the pocket ( not goal square) and what #16 did was what anyone should do. A hillside player was on the ground behind play lying face down. Didn’t see what occurred as there was a SA player also lying on the ground as well about 5mts apart and no one else around. Then SA player came in and picked up the HS player lying face down ( thought to be concussed) by the collar and shook him aggressively a couple of times. Then a few seconds later a SA comes in and strikes the same player from behind whilst his still lying face down. I was shocked to see that. Then a few players come in as this player is still on the ground face down. Then HS player comes in after the SA who hit the player on the ground. I think even you would agree that’s a reaction you would expect to see.

Going after someone lying face down is not great look. Hope you seen all that as to what transpired mate.

Anyway all players were fine in the end and no serious injuries from what I could tell. SA player who ran in was yellow carded.

Just wanted to clarify what I saw.

PS: i purposely didn’t put down players no’s on my post. Just wanted to defend a player you accused here as from my viewing point this player had a good game and was willing to defend & protect his young teammates which all big blokes should do. He did it fairly and I’m sure you would even acknowledge as something you want in a team mate to have your back.

Cheers great man!

So those threats are excusable? I suppose you think that every action from HS are justifiable too.
Does the ladies umbrella still work firefly? You might need to supply her a new one!! 🤣🤣
Poor guy copped an umbrella over the head then punches from behind. Not what you expect playing a game of afl local footy.. 😫😫
