Anyone feel as though having a 3rds comp is causing some of these problems? a few sides have two 3rds teams whilst teams are struggling to field reserves sides? i understand some people just cant commit anymore to footy training and just want to run around but imo having a team with 2 3rds sides is a bit much.

Let’s be real taking away the 3rds comp ain’t going to make players from Aberfeldie,greenvale,keilor instantly want to go down and play for the likes of Jacana or Keilor Park they would simply just not play at all

Yeah I agree, blokes from thirds are usually blokes tied to that club that maybe past ones/twos, can’t train, even blokes that have never played before but have ties to the club.

It’s the rule of the competition they must start at the lowest level. But I agree they would have been best starting in div1.

What if Rupo, St Albans or Melton Sth device to come across. All these 3 clubs are stronger than Sunbury Kangaroos..

They are way to good for that level

I’m not so sure. They are heavily touted as the team to beat by a number of posters, in fact rather bullishly, but they exactly weren’t the world beaters people are making out. Haddy nearly beat them. Great effort by Haddy, but it wasn’t a performance of a so called Div 1 side. Sides like Moonee Valley, Coburg Districts and now even Burside are going to give them a run for their money. So if Sunbury are too good for Div 2 so are the sides I mentioned.

Had lunch with a few EDFL senior officials today and some big news coming at seasons end with more sides to come in and probably 1 or two div2 teams to fold or merge and even a second side out of Craigeburn the league is working with the clubs to help them out in every possible way. It’s hard seeing clubs like Keilor Park and Jacana go through what’s happening to them but we hope that they can sort it out and fight to the end.

What a joke. We have enough trouble getting players in the area and they just put another club in. Already hard enough for sponsorship. Willing to kill smaller clubs again

I popped in for a look with a mate Saturday night on the way home to buy some food and drinks there

A few Sunbury supporters in front of us bringing their own beers was super disappointing

Sunbury Kangaroo had a lot of supporters at that game and a lot were buying beers and burgers from the bbq. At half time a lot of there committee came up onto the social rooms and they had a few supporters sitting on the balcony after 1/2 time. In fact they should be congratulated for supporting Jacana on the night.
Maybe you did see some people drinking there own beer but that happens at all games by people from ALL clubs.

It was a great effort by Jacana to field 2 sides on Saturday. And they continued to try all game against the odds and played the game in great spirits.

They had the bbq going and put on a good night. Yes it’s going to be a battle each week.
The Jacana coach really spoke well at the break and all players were engaged which shows respect. It was all positive and they should be congratulated.

PS: The 1st quarter was played using a red footy..

Jacana managed to survive whilst getting 100+ point beltings week after week when the comp was only 2 divisions. They should survive this.

Wonder if they would be made to go in to div 2 as SK did they’ve been a powerhouse in that Comp and you’d think they’d dominate div 2 EDFL
