Edfl are under no obligation to any club... That's why keilor craigieburn Sydenham have 3 or four sides in every junior age group... If you bail out the clubs that are struggling there is no incentive for the club to be managed properly... The edfl isn't a socialist organization... There is no measures for evening everything up.

If the clubs have the right people in place they will prosper... Clubs need to constantly work hard And when they dont that's when these clubs find themselves in debt

My club works tirelessly at trying to attract juniors... Running clinics at the local schools they also have a stall at the fawkner festival bunnings sausage sizzles and also run a local schools carnival at mutton reserve because of the close proximity of other clubs such as hadfield, glenroy, pascoe vale etc plus the aging demographic of the clubs catchment area if the club doesn't work it's arse off to promote the club then the juniors would struggle to fill all age groups

I'm not against maybe limiting the amount of junior sides clubs like keilor can field... But keilor would be penalized for being a well run club and the keilor park type clubs are being rewarded for being poorly run

The AFL have a socialist slant to decision making. This is to protect clubs and for the betterment of the entire competition. Otherwise GWS etc would not get consessions and lower clubs like Melbourne and Richmond get earlier draft picks. That's socialism in the best interest of the comp.
It's not as simple as struggling clubs being judged as poorly managed.
The EDFL need to MANAGE the league to help clubs that have other obsticles, like aging areas with less young families. Proximatey to local schools (primary and secondary schools). It's not a level playing field. Some clubs can work their arse off but will still need help. Keilor park has no primary school any more and no secondary schools in the area. So EDFL need to make a decision. Have a slightly socialist approach to help some clubs without hurting others. I don't thing that some large clubs with 120 under 10's would see much difference if they wern't allow to have that many!

I do agree It's in the edfl's interest to ensure all clubs can be viable...

Also hadfield and north coburg/northern saints were able to pick themselves off rock bottom no reason other clubs can't do it as I previously posted clubs just need the right people involved... Hadfield are probably the best example as their juniors have been impressive in recent years will numerous and in 2012 will be in div 1

Not the only one keilor pk no president and as of last night no senior coach (quit) plus a large debt$30,000 not as big as their a grade neighbours theirs is $60,000

Keilor park does not have a debt of $30,000 no where near that need to get your facts right

So who are the leading condenders so far for season 2012 ?

This has to be a worry for East Keilor after a strong 2011 on feild..

Dear Members and Friends of the EKFC,
The East Keilor FC desperately needs your help. At the recent AGM nominations were requested for next years committee including the executive positions of President, Secretary, Treasurer and Senior Vice President but none were forthcoming.
If these positions are not filled shortly the club will struggle to operate successfully in 2012. You would be aware that a lot of progress has been made over the last 2 years with 4 junior premierships, every junior side playing finals and our senior side who finished bottom of the table in 2009 played finals in 2011.
If the club is going to continue with this momentum then we need you to come forward and help the club survive. Next year is a pivotal year for the club with the introduction of a third senior division. If we as a club don’t get more support from its members and friends then C grade is a reality and the flow on effect of this would be an exodus of our best junior players, and ultimately the death of the club.

This is the third attempt the club have made to get someone to take control of the club. Were they successful at meeting last night or are they still in search?

just got in from the edfl website first team to join the edfl is the burnside heights bears football club didnt see it happening from that part of the world.

From the EDFL website.

The Bears are aiming to field three teams across under-10s and under-12s next year, with the potential for an under-14 side if numbers are strong.

From this small beginning the club hopes to grow into a senior outfit within a decade.

Good get for the edfl...

The league's junior structure was a major reason why the club chose the edfl... Edfl is much more organized at a junior level

Some good news for EK down in the juniors.

It is with great excitement that the East Keilor Fc announces the appointment of Tom Hunter as it’s under 18’s coach for the season of 2012. Tom who is the current runner for the Collingwood football club comes back to East Keilor with an abundance of knowledge and skill of the modern game.

Not only will Tom coach our under 18’s team for 2012 but he will also set training sessions for our under 16 side and have extensive involvement with them to prepare them for the transition into under 18/senior football.

Concern for the club that it's almost December and nobody is interested in directing the club into the important future. Season 2012 will see 6 sides in Div 3 for U18, res seniors after round 13. So U18 team at EK may find they are in Div 3!! Hardly going to compliment trying to "prepare them for U18 and seniors"

Pre-season has started - the under Under 18s and Senior groups have been back at it for over two weeks. The junior sides are preparing for more premierships to add to the four over the last two years.

Off field there is a full committee who are getting the club prepared for 2012. The club is looking forward to the challenge the 2012 season bring on and off the field and the success that will follow.

That's good news for the club. With full committee getting club prepared, who is on execitive committee, president, secretary etc. Who is senior coach?

With this rejection, maybe it's time for the EDFL to intervene and assist some current EDFL clubs that are struggling. Forget the "the club has to do the hard work" stuff. Some clubs are just in a bad place like no schools, older area etc. They are part of EDFL and deserve help. Keilor Park and EK and Jacana could do with assistance. Now Essendon Grammar are going to introduce junior teams in WFL and they are right in the middle of EK and KP. Another nail in the coffin for traditional EDFL clubs??
EDFL have a choice see these clubs like Fitzroy (and let them die) or see these clubs like Kangaroos and Bulldogs (and assist them in some way)

Essendon grammar starting up a junior club would be a massive concern to keilor park... I'd bet a few of their juniors would go to school there... Also their sporting grounds are just behind keilor park football ground too

East keilor juniors have been fairly successful recently but essendon grammar may end up canabalising their juniors too... If I were in charge of east keilor or keilor park juniors I'd be trying to establish a link between essendon keilor college and niddrie secondary college and their club

How would you assist these Clubs ? - Financial help from League would be hard considering the number of Clubs who have a combined large debt owing to the League - at the end of the day it is up to the clubs to get off the behinds and develop and nurture a junior enviroment that will sustain their future.

:thumbsu:exactly Advantagerule.

Concentrate on saving coin rather than spending.. And create a positive future for junior teams
.. might take a while, but ....
They are the future of a club

How does a club like Keilor Park that is located away from residential area and an ageing one at that, is surrounded by an industrial area and had their only school close down survive? The only way is EDFL intervention. Restrict the number of juniors that clubs can have in a better way than the EDFL current do. This is same as what education department do with schools enrolments. They have a peak enrolment intake at schools and the kids then go to the next school when the school reaches it's peak.
Example: Keilor reaches peak of say 80 under 10's. The kids then go to neighbouring club. This is better than Keilor having 110+ under 10's in 4 teams.

P.S I didn't ever mention financial support and YOU DON'T NEED THE BIG WRITING It's like you are shouting.
