Hillside seem to be on the move after an indifferent/inconsistent start. Could they be a smokey on the rise??
39 scoring shots to 12 today. Beat Tulla and OP. Loss to Haddy a ? Didnt see them today but certainly they r on the move. They had a few out today as well... Moody Taleb the most notable. CB and WM the clear favorites for me Tulla, OP, Windside, Roys battle for the last 2 spots. Best Div 1 comp in metro footy seriously good footy well done to all involved. Did anyone see Haddy v NS game?

Yes, not a bad game Had v NS with most of the best players in the game originating from northern saints fc... it was somewhat confusing as a spectator...haddy won the game but northern controlled the majority of play and could not capitalise on the scoreboard..
Northern were much more stronger and physical than the smaller haddy players. The game was there to be won but the northern saints well known persistece and perserverance game style was only distributed in patches and they just looked like they lacked 1 or 2 polished players. Tackles win games
.. Good game though

Could play finals, but like most of the other sides they're playing for 2nd place.

To be honest it was a scrappy game WM looked the better team deserved the win TM had a good crack WM rucks dominated whilst TM Rucks where runnig water and doing stats

It was a great game to watch, TM just keep coming. I thought WM should have been up by 5-7 goals at half time, with all the set shots they missed.
WM rucks did dominate , but from what I hear your rucks that were running water and doing stats are gone for the year so TM can't use that as an excuse. Thought WM FF was the match winner, most dominate forward on the ground and with the absence of Mullen and Church really needed to step up and did.

On another note, Billy what was the situation after the game with the altercation between a supporter and coach ? Looked like they exchanged a few words after something coach said to the players after the game

It's not an excuse it's just a fact WM killed us in the ruck contest and possibly the 2nd and 3rd best rucks in the comp are done for the year
Advantage WM
although I did think WM where going to choke until the full forward stood up he was the best forward out there

A full strength wm v full strength tulla would be just as close of a contest I wreckon... Both great teams! I wonder what the second half of the year will throw up...

Glenroy look to be in trouble straight kicking v poor kicking at goal saved them from a seriously embarrassing scorecard! A bit of pressure mounting?

Hey Blueballers, Glenroy really struggling and the game was over early. Glenroy really struggling and lacked any real quality or physical presence. I know Dulic was out and they have 5-6 injuries but they appear to lack passion which is unlike Glenroy. I know they seem to lift a notch at home in front of their supporters but they don't have a big following at away games. From all reports they increased there spending from last year but there performances must be causing the hierarchy some concerns. Div1 has improved so the question is did they recruit players capable of playing good consistent div1 footy. Agree Winter was a great pick up and there ruckman is good, but not convinced with the others.
If the Nth Saints were doing better Glenroy would be in relegation zone. Interesting to see how they go next game v Hadfield. However they do always come back into the rooms after the game in there colours which is great.

Thoughts? Where is my good mate Aussie?

Have u seen the 2 country boys play barfly ? obviously you have if you've declared them not premier standard! Both played good level footy in the country will be more than capable div1 players, Fisher has been playing senior footy for seymour which i'm sure is above this level and coomans from all reports is a younger/fitter replacement for danny who was captain at broadford and was in best plenty of times last year at cobram.

On the resevoir boys im not involved directly with the club and player payments but i'm pretty sure roys wouldn't be breaking the budget on these older blokes, i'm not even sure these guys would playing senior football in this division.
Would like to hear your opinions now larks83 as im sure you've had time to judge said players.See Coomans hasnt played much nor done much when he has.Injured?Stick to facts with no spin either please. Thanks

Oak Park seem to be going under the radar. They had 2 hiccups against Tulla & Hillside and are the only team to beat Westy. With the inclusion of Campbell and McConnell into that midfield and with Pascu back in 2-3 weeks they can push for a top 2 finish at seasons end. Only issue will be they are a tall defender short

Glenroy will be ok at full strength
Dulic
Coomans
Stratchan
Tanner Neilson
are 4 quality outs.
Winter playing on 1 leg. A fully fit Winter and he would kick 3-4 goals each week
They are a good young side next couple years they will build to play finals

Your best hope is if Craigieburn choke at the last hurdle.

I agree at full strength they "should" be OK. The problem is every team has injuries but Glenroy seem to lack depth and players below there top 6-7 appear to be found short of the mark. Yes they are playing some younger guys but still there bottom 8 of so players appear to struggle in div1. I'm hearing they increased there budget as well this season and expected better results. What is the clubs perception of the coach and his strategy/game plan. It was a big change in direction to appoint a coach that has been coaching at a lower level, unlike previous coaches like Whitnall who had coached at premier and played AFL.

looks like a good game between Haddy and northern.. hearing Haddy were lucky to come away with win
personally I believe that was northern's grand final. not surprised it was so close as I'm sure northern knew it was a must win and gave it everything they had.
there going to need to knock someone off which I can't see happening and then beat Haddy second time around. if Haddy beat someone else I believe that's northern season done. be interesting to see if the senior players hang around if/when they go down.

The way craigieburn are playing as a team is gonna make it difficult for any team to beat them. Especially tm and op.

During the season yes, probably too hard to beat them, but come Grand Final, if the opposition hat Crazyburn is up against can play committed footy, CB would not have experienced that pressure all season no matter how hard they train, therefore they could be vulnerable.
In saying that their opposition would have to do just about everything right and CBurn not play well. But as we all know it can and does happen year after year.
On the other hand if CBurn come out on GF Day and play well they will win it by 20goals - exactly what happened in A Grade last year with Abers

They are miles off being a good side . Have conceded 30 plus scoring shots in all of their loses . That tells me the game plan is wrong. The lack off defensive effort is deplorable . Surely if you're down on quality players you try to play more defensive footy , not just let the bleeding continue . Comes back to structure .foot skills and desicions making are poor also . Lack speed .recruiting was poor ..Have a lot of work to do to get where they want to go .

Cant blame inj. On the weekend WM had out
Church - probably best fwd outside of Clokes at the moment
Mullen - Best small fwd in comp
Callagari - In top 3 FB in comp
Avery - vc
Keenan- top 5 in B and F last year

TM have had heaps out all year as well, so have Oak park, Good sides just find a way. The roys are miles off and seem to have gone backwards from last year

Why makes you think they are miles off. They had a bad game against hillside @ hillside. Which is what Tulla had. Then when they played Tulla they kicked 1.8 in the second quarter with the wind. If they go in 5.4 or 6.3 at half time then the result could have been different. are the only team to beat west meadows and were in the game for 3 quarters against craigieburn so aren't to far away. Still along way to go in the season
