Hillside about to announce new senior coach/captain and some decent signings in coming days. Stay tuned

Congratulations Steve Kolynuik

Couldn't possibly be. Has been sacked by previous
2 clubs. Surely a track record speaks for itself.
If Hillside appoint Kolynuik and prove to
everyone that they haven't learnt from the
Ezard saga. Then they deserve nothing more
than the circus that appears to be going on.
I would love to see them succeed before they're
kids decide to start playing elsewhere. But
if Kolynuik is coach of a side who's Captain
was chosen by the commitee. Then perhaps
The kids should play senior footy elsewhere.
Good luck

Why are you so hung up on a captain being appointed by the committee. Surely a club without a coach would want to have some say on who will captain their side. Surely the club would know its on and off field leaders other than that of a new coach that may not be from around the league or the club. It would be neglect if the committee did not have some input. Either way hopefully the club gets it right this time and is able to make an impression this season

Sounds like the Hillside Football Club has turned into a bit of a circus this year already. Most clubs will be going back to training in the next 2-3 weeks and still no coach signed, sounds like a bit of a shambles, Especially considering they havnt had a coach since mid season. I agree though the committee shouldnt have complete say in the captaincy, the coach needs to have an input in the decision at least. Think its hard to find a coach who will agree to having every decison he makes dictated too him by the committee. Feel like the sharks will be spending a bit longer in div 2 than what they would have wanted, which is very dissapointing.

Mate not hung up on it, just surprised that the incomming coach is already being told by the commitee this is how things are. I think if you ask most football people, they will have the same sort of oppinion as my self. The senior coach should have a say in the leadership at the club. As for the prediction of coach, well. Steve Kolynuil was asked to leave by Doutta Stars, told he was no longer requirede at St Albans and sacked at East Keilor. Surely the selectors would be having de je vu (re Ezard). My money would be on Anthony Aloi. But i cant imagine in the professional manner he goes about his football, would be to pleased with the commitee already making decisions.

I don't know who this captain is but it sounds like it was part of the deal him playing there. The character of this person must be in question, players negotiating their way to the captaincy is not on. Leaders are judged by their peers and the good one's NEVER need to blow their own trumpet.
I too wish Hillside all the best and hope they start climbing up through the grades but by the sound of things from this forum they have huge cultural problems which is disapointing for such a young club. Hope they get their stuff together soon, Aloi coaching would be a good start

You are exactly right about players negotiating captaincy, wonder if the captain is Crook? I know he has high demands other then the big $$ he's on

It isn't Crook. From all reports he has been sensational in regards to attitude and only wants the best for the club. It's one of the four that nearly left. The other big news is Kolynuik may not be a done deal... pub talk is Ryan Hargreaves is ready to make a decision even though Kolynuik thinks he has the job! The committee is keeping all options open by the sounds of things. No senior or reserves coach and pre season around the corner, good start to the 2013 campaign.

Can we get some news on the other 7 clubs in this division, the ongoing dramatisation of Hillside is becoming a tad overdone. I did hear some pub talk about a loyal Division 2 coach apply for the Westmeadows coaching role and got knocked back.

Just saw this posted in the EDFL Divvy 1 Thread, thought i would Re Post it here seeings its more relevant for this thread...

East Keilor have appointed ex North Footcray Premiership Coach and 300 game player David Battistella.
Good get for East Keilor who were looking for someone that knows how to be part of the club and who will also look after their juniors coming through. Thats coaches for the love and fulfillment of it and not for money.
Batts will also have the help of Warwick Lucas who is also a multi premiership coach and was also President of North Footscray for over 8 years.

Great Pick up for East Keilor IMO these 2 guys were just part of a Premiership a few years ago as Coach/President, now working as Co Coaches. Interesting to see the players coming in now for the cougars! Watch this space...
Both Batts and Wooka are top blokes and know how to run successful teams. From memory Batts was coach of North for 6 years and took them from a low ladder position to division 1 and managed to keep them up in Divy 1 before stepping aside. He also doesn't mind on giving the kids a go and looks after the under 18's. Likes to get the kids involved with the seniors and promote within.

Wish him and Wooka all the luck with the team next year

Welcome to the EDFL's newest Club - Coburg Districts

That's good news

Also congratulations to Hillside appointing Steve Kolynuk as coach and recruiting Ryan Hargreave. Massive get, from AFL to EDFL Div 3, but they obviously gave the right Offer. Well done

Surely Not? Is this 100% confirmed by the club?

What role would they possibly have for Ryan Hargreaves? If not coach? With all the others thrown at him by much bigger clubs surely there has to be more offered then just a playing role, if Kolynuk is confirmed as coach.

Thanks for that..Definately a huge pick up for the sharks im still dumb founded why he would want to play Divvy 3 :s But hey great for the comp regardless. Will definately create some intrest now and Hillside have gone from being the quiet team in pre season to probally the most talked about now. Hope they can handle the pressure of a big name signing like this one :thumbsu: Cant wait to hear of some more signings over the next few weeks for all teams in the comp..

Well done on Coburg Districts moving accross to a better league.

Hillside may not have finished yet on the big name signings, more will be revealed down at the pub.

angelo lekkas and mitch hahn? 8 games each.
sharks going all out to move on up.

How did Lekkas go last year isnt he like 37 now?? If they sign Hahn that would be Big news..But to me that would mean alot of money going into 3 players and a coach, what quality players could they get with whats left?
