Good to hear from you Mick i was wondering when Pumpkins like you would come crawling out from under your rocks...:thumbsu:

No Excuses and i have Question for you, how do you know how are going and what gives you the impression that we will be in B Grade next year...

Getting a bit fired up there brick! Take it easy we dont want to see you collapse .
Tell us all on how you are going to improve from last year?
Who have you picked up that will make any differance and what about players that have gone , are you at least replacing them?

Unless it is a big secret , nothing seems to be happening at Doutta Stars at present.

You Doutta Star blokes have an answer for everything, but at the end of the day nothing is happening at your club, things are going downhill quick.
Excuses and answers mean nothing , see you in B grade next year Bricksta.

Short memory Mick!!! With all the chest beating that went on down at your club last year and what did it produce 0!!! Worry about your own back yard before commenting on ours, 12 clearances huh!! Money may get a bit tighter this year with the Freight business struggling, more players to go??

heard there have been a few signings down at Jacana, few from craigieburn, also return of bryce mall, jonathan smedley, ferros mehir and just saw jessy james on the clearences list is back after a good year at northcote park? anyone confirm?

Its a Long season boys, lets just wait and talk about it after round 6 as by then we should all know who is in trouble and who is on the improve..

I would not bet on anything at the moment as all clubs are doing their best to be competitive. There is still a HUGE chance that Oak Park will stay in A grade and Glenroy will stay in B grade. Glenroy people should look at what is the best for the future of the club and forget about the stigma of what may be said if they knock back the promotion.

If the league allows Glenroy to stay in B grade they will set a dangerous precedent. As bad as it may be for the club to come up as they may cop some floggings etc the league can't let them stay down because it will open the door for teams to dominate B grade for long periods of time.
What would happen if Glenroy were allowed to stay in B grade, the players that were leaving come back or they recruit some and they win the 2009 B grade flag???? Can't see it happening.

We will improve!

Just check the clearances website over the next couple of days you may see a few new names that have been added, no super stars but just starting to build something for the future at the club.:)

Right now they would probably not make the top 5 in B grade. As I said you must do what is best for the club and the competition. It would not surprise me if the League called them in for a chat shortly.

paying them and overpaying them are 2 different things pooky:eek:

Lets get some things out in the open boys especially for Bricksta and Sierra. Talk about overpaying and great negotiating at your club.
CAREY- $1200 a game , desperate to keep him.

RAMSEY- $800 a game, joke.

HOLLOW- $800 a game, back after a year away.

BARNES- $30k

BARNARD- $8K

Total of around $88k on 3 players and coaches.

Talk about spending money wisely.

If I were you guys I would stop posting
having a crack at other clubs especially you Sierra ,you have got no idea whats even happening at your club.

A bit of tit-for-tat between Doutta and Marbi supporters and still 2 months to go before the first bounce - good to see!

Am a neutral EDFL observer but based on the $$$ mentioned above, I would have thought not unreasonable in today's market.

Carey - generally considered top 3 in comp so worth it.
Ramsay - comp medal winner 3 yrs ago so could get that (or more) on the open market.
Hollow - was considered top 5 on-baller before he went to St.Albers.
Barnes and Barnard - seem excessive but no-one was questioning Keilor at the end of last year after reports of what Maguine was paid. Not comparing Barnes with him but perhaps the jury should be out in his $$$ until end of the season.

Mick, what would Laverde, Ayres etc be taking home? $800-$1000 but both worth it. If clubs are willing to pay it.........

Mcguane was a proven coach when he went to Keilor last year.

is Laverde that good to be put with the comps elite? my opinion is he waste the footy to many times.

Any news on greenvale are travelling? heard they have lost a few and haven't really replaced these players?
heard vinnie "the massive nose" randello is burning up the track. who else should we be looking out for this year?
are the peakes brothers hanging around this season?

What is the prize money for winning the A Grade flag??

Heard Marby expect brodie Holland to sign within the next or so.If rumour is true what is playing for, reckon would be highest paided player in comp.
Interesting to see acouple of West Coburg players leave via Northcote Park to try and get to Pacco Vale.

Read that this morning and couldn't work out what they were doing. See now they are trying to get around the 3 player maximum rule. A little bit dodgy...

Regards to money spent on players. This forum (along with the general rumour mill) has been responsible for jacking up players values in the open market. With people continually getting on here and speculating as to what players are worth, it only serves to distort other players opinions of their own worth when negotiating.

The fact is that some payers are getting paid in the high hundreds and over the 1000 mark. Some maybe deserve it, some don't. That being said, the majority of players are not being paid this much and it only hurts the recruiting powers of lower budget clubs when players ask for stupid amounts of money....

Well that's my say....

Marby was suppose to have matched or bettered either Nth H/bergs or H/bergs offer.Must be better money than would have made playing Vfl considering Collingwood have their own side. Just hope theseplayers on these supposely big bucks, stay around and put some of it back into the club.

Would think Brodie Holland is the exception and maybe worth the big money straight out of the AFL.

I'm talking about local footy players who read these threads and listen to the crap that is talked around the place and decide they're worth $XXX because they heard some other guy from some other team was on that much.....

ben hakim to west coburg
that is a big loss given the other blokes they have already lost. he is certainly replaceable but makes it hard after losing big simon potter as well.
a lot riding on the big shoulders of vinnie "massive nose" randello and the likes now.
can anyone confirm whether the peakes boys are hanging around?
