This week is set to be season defining for all clubs bar probably Greenvale.

Avondale V Greenvale

Greenvale should comfortably get the chocolates here and if they can shut down inter league reps in Harrison, Trewin and Owen they should win well. Greenvale have a few of their superstars still missing in Bloomfield (hammy) and Jorgo but they should easily account for the ever consistent Avondale Heights. The have surprised many this year Avondale and their ladder position (7th) doesn't really give a true account of how their season has been. Their midfield consisting of Cousland, Owen, McCough, Fransken and changing rucks in Trewin and Hopkins are workman like and will match it with most in the comp but Greenvale are just a cut above the rest and should win most of the contested footy. Avondale could expose the Jets around the ground as Potter isn't as dominant in the air as big Rhys is. Avondale have also held their in the back half and have the 4th least amount scored against however they do lack firepower up forward. If big Johnny Angel doesn't get a back and Trewin fails to chime in with a few, their only real other avenue to goal is through Harrison and this will be even harder on the weekend up against the strongest defence in the comp. Avondale should carbon copy Douttas gallant effort a fortnight ago and play basic man on man over the whole ground, it worked for Douttas for 3 quarters and then the Jets just kicked away. Greenvale to win by 35 points.

Marbi V West Coburg

Match of the round. Marbi's season is back on track after a huge win against 3rd placed Abers, the score really did flatter Abers in the end as they kicked 4 or 5 junk goals in the last quarter. If the Marbi that came out to play last Sunday turns up against the Burgers they should win, i got to witness superstar Rabee play a blinder against Craigieburn last start and he will be super pumped to put up another great captains game. West Coburg have certainly missed Elvy, Vizzini and Nicholson the last couple of weeks and Ash Flavel is playing under an injury cloud - if all of these prime movers are fit and firing West Coburg will run Marbi all the way. Marbi should get Shagga Broadbent back for his first game in a month however will be without consistent backman Kev Whichello who injured his hammy in the rep game apparently. Big BK found some form against Abers and I'm not sure who WC have to go with him, Benny Fletcher should return from his brothers wedding in overseas and is another key forward who could find himself on the end of plenty forward entries. Heir and Khouri are very reliable backman yet don't have the height to match the key forwards but are brilliant at rebounding from the back half, the one wild card for WC who is a real match winner on his day is Fidaa Ahmad and turned it on against Abers yet against Craigieburn dropped a couple of marks that he needed to take yet he still finds himself in the right positions most of the time and can be very elusive. This game could also be won on tactics and I'm sure the West Coburg coaching staff will be pumped for a big one and a much needed win to stay in touch with the four. The Marby Barby will sell plenty of snags on the weekend too. Marbi to win by 9 points.

Oak Park V Strathmore

Strathmore will be too strong here and they too got their season back on track with a come from behind win against Avondale, this is a game that Strathmore can't afford to lose as they need to stay in touch with the top half of the ladder. I'm tipping "Turtle" Wilkinson to have a day out as Oak Park really struggle in the hitouts, they have missed Sapiano and the likes of Sendecky and Co. just don't have the class to match it with the better ruckman in the comp. I'm sure the Mores are wrapped to have Robson back in the side as early on in the year Little, Bones and Mazzeo lacked support and Robson is a proven Centre Half Back and allows Mazzeo to create more which he is so good at. Oak Park need more avenues to goal and they have missed Albones hardness and experience, Foster is an unassuming forward but always kicks his share yet has little support, if Oak Park can get more goals from their midfielders (Boake aside) then they could shock Strathmore. Let's not forget they had Marbi on toast earlier in the year and then threw it away. I thinks Hatchy and Howard will have their work cut out on Winter and Harvey and then they also need to contain the best player in the comp "Doering" who has been in rare form this year. Strathmore will get over the top of Oaks in the second half as their forwards are much stronger than Oaks backs. Strathmore to win by 43 points.

Keilor V Craigieburn

Hasn't Mighty Mick sent a stern message to the doubters about his coaching ability and more importantly the quality of the Keilor list, the great thing about this club is their ability to have superior depth and loyal club people. Not that other clubs don't have it just Keilor seem to do it better than some of the others. When put into perspective, they ran Greenvale all the way in the first game and Abers were a touch quicker and wanted it more late in the game in Round 2. After that game Mick ordered the players to a 7am Brimbank "PAIN" session on the Sunday morning, the morning after Ricky Marcy's 300th celebrations mind you and it seems to have turned their season around. They are by far the form team of the comp and should account for the inconsistent Craigieburn. On paper the Eagles team is fantastic some of the new recruits in Brooks, Jacobs, Turners x 2 have been very consistent and solid contributors and the likes of Nolan, Pappin, Gordon and Butler have all had great years, mind you they still have several key players out in Saliba, Saad, O'Neil and Piggott. The midfield battle on the weekend will be a ripper - Dann, Moloney, Marcy and Fraser up against Ake, Jacobs, Gordon and Corouzou - Keilor should get the points here even though Brooks will account for the big bean pole in Johnson who doesn't do enough damage around the ground for his size. Keilor are the highest attacking side in the comp and i can't see the Eagles being able to combat the likes of James, Houlihan, Armstrong, Prowse, Moore and the resting midfielders. Keilor to win by 19 points.

Abers V Douttas.

Stop "DUCK" junior and Abers will win, he has a great record against Abers in the games he's played, he's only played against Abers twice in the last 2 years. The first game of 06 he kicked 11 big ones and if he does something similar Douttas will certainly push Abers. Douttas weakness this year has been their backline and this is where Abers can stretch the Stars. Abers to win by 8 points.

Pretty good summation there puffpuff.

In regards to the abers game, who will get the job on carey? Heata Maplestone has been very solid for us throughout the year but does he have the power to go with him in one on ones. I thought houli was good on kinnear until he went off. Is he still out, how long for? Any chance willoughby might get the call up.

Very big game this week for the two blues, possibly the biggest of the season so far. In regards to finals and avoiding relegation. We need the win to keep in touch with the 4 and give ourselves some breathing space.

My tip is for an abers win by 17 points.

silly money -I think that Sheppard would be the best option to play on Carey , as once you stop him they got nothing else.
Abers to win by 40 points.

I hear abers topline R.Cole is set to play his first game this week

Is he a chance to play on Carey?

Look forward to seeing how he goes as people on here having been bagging his weight, for memory he was always a larger frame and should offer a great deal to abers this week given that the man is possibly the quickest bloke going around

Can anyone give us all some information on how he is travelling? we all know he has the ability to cut this league apart..

Like an iceberg from what i have seen.

He has been named to play for every game this year.

Forgive me if i dont believe you until i actually see him on the field.

If he does play, why would they waste him on carey, wouldnt it be better to have him as a their weapon.

Richie ain't playing!

Good to see Cain Mainsbridge in for his first game and was named at half back - i'm assuming he'll get the job on Kade.

Otto, General or Bricksta - any news on the game from your end.

Who is playing 400 - Rutley???????

Good preview on the games puff puff...i enjoy your comments! Pretty good tips, but i'd be surprised if Craigiburn get that close to Keilor though.

Avondale V Greenvale - greenvale 40 points

Marbi v West Coburg - dunno if West coburgs full forward is back yet, if so he will make a difference - Marbi by 35 points

Oakers v Strath - Oakers to give Strath a massive shock early - Strathmore by 20 points

Keilor v C'burn - Keilor by 70 points

Abers v Douttas - Abers by 30 points

Is Mainsbrudge tall and quick enough to go with Carey? Probably not many in the comp can though I suppose. Delivery from the midfield will be the key.

On the other side, the Stars will need to find a match-up for Peterson - perhaps Phillpot so when he goes for his regulation mark of the year he will be 6"5 off the ground........... loves and can execute a hanger!

Wouldnt have thought abers would sacrifice Sheppard on carey. Would be a fraction slow anyway i think. Delivery is definatly the key tho, with the potential inclusions of Ramsay, king, sutton and S. Tankard. 4 of the best kicks in the team, the stars should have no excuses for not hitting him up.

Bit of a high flyer is he peterson? Well philpots the tallest down there, getting a hanger taken on him might knock him off his perch from the interleague game.

Massive game! both teams seasons on the line.... Doutta's by a point, carey to kick 8, ramsay 5

So those 4 did not play against Greenvale? If they didn't, fair effort and perhaps the game tomorrow will be alot closer than most anticipate.

Think 8 from Carey may not be enough though.....

Abers to win by 40 points.

Mick....you obviously haven't played at Buckley Park....its about the size of the Nullabor, or Shanes arse, thats approx 4 Clifton Parks end on end....now playing Shane Shephard on the Prince would be like Will Minson playing on Buddy....so..make sure Shane has a tight belt attached to those size XXXLL shorts (they are large)...and make him awares that no towel will be required as one will be awaiting him at sirens end.....

Footnote: I somehow recall a game at Clifton Park where the 2 blues where heading the Stars by around 21 points come the last change....then young kade decided to produce a spurt just to tilt the game in the Stars favour come Fat Lady time....he finished the day with 11 large, 8 behinds....thats a total of 74 points...about what you guys will finish with tommorrow....moral to the story...if Shane plays on Kade...the Stars by lots!!

Have I missed something here or what?? Kade Carey kicked 10 in one game, great effort however. When it comes to the real stuff for premiership points, he is averaging 3 a game and has a biggest bag for the year of 6 against a STRUGGLING Oak Park.

Will be a great match up with Sheps, but the towel may be handed in the other direction. Shep handed the towel to a bloke named Trent Croad in the past, he's more than capable of taking Kade. As for Kades 11 goals 8 against Abers previously I'm sure most will agree Abers are a far better side now.

tips this wk

marbi 51 points
oaks 17 points, yeah we will win
greenvale by 118 points
aberfeldie by 23 points
keilor by 97 points

Hey saints on paper it would seem that Kade hasnt really kicked a heap of goals this season well i guess it wouldnt seem he hasnt ;) but has played some outstanding games.Against the better teams he has played quite well in my opinion.

Marby-against Pilling they had a good battle of which i would give the points to Kade on one of the better players in the comp.

Strathmore-Had a couple of opponents and had the better of them

Keilor-tried hard and did ok but like the whole team struggled, team only kicked 4

Greenvale-Only kicked 4 but was outstanding in my opinion and made numerous greenvale backman look silly which isnt easy to do.

So to be basically the only forward and to have the better of most opponenets in the better sides in the comp is a credit to him.

Like all supporters im biased ;) but i guess when you see a guy week in and week out and see all of the other things he does on the ground you marvel at his ability, skill and determination and the way he brings other people into the game and leads by example is outstanding,if you havent seen him play consistently he's much like his uncle and i dont say that lightly.

I know i know get out of his arse and all that but he is a star and nothing short of it and the equal of anyone in the comp.

And Puff its Andrew Rutleys 400th he is the middle of the 3 Rutley Bros he has been a great servant of the club, captained a flag, played in a couple of flags in the 1's,served the commitee etc etc and is a great fella ;)

Also as binaround mentioned there are some big inclusions for the stars this week, they are basically at full strength which is great and ive heard that the two blues have a good side in so should be a cracker of a game :D stars by 4 goals :thumbsu:

THE DREBSTER

Douttas had a good win,Kade kicked about 9 gave away about 5 and Abers coach left poor old number 38 on him the whole day which i couldnt understand.
Ramsey,King,Sutton and Wilson were all good and Hircoe was fantastic but basically the whole team played well after a shocking 1st quarter:thumbsu: dont know final score but was about 5 or 6 goal win ;)

Stop giving out Turtle soup out soup on Thursday night.....Its high in fat and its showing on your players hahahhahahah:D

Bit harsh there Blastoff !! it is well documented on here that Abers are soft, however i have noticed that your last post was 26th April. Do you only come out of the woodwork when Doutta have a win. Now that's weak !!
Sorry Gooon have been over sea.............just came back to see your side get their pants pull down.:thumbsu:

A much better side going by the results!!!!! Maybe Kade read your comments to stick it up you.(But i seriously doubt it) Abers are a much better side except when they have to travel up Cooper Street maybe.
Just learn to live with the fact that you are a poor second cousin to Doutta's just like the time Douttas played Abers at Abers and the doutta blokes set up BBQ's and Bar's and made about 2 grand for their footy trip. And of course abers got the sad's and the next season Abers tried to do it and made about 50 bucks as the blockbuster status had dissapered even though the set up marquees for the game.
A great win for the Stars and maybe Abers need a bloke like A. Rutley around the club. A true inspiration and im sure the seniors played the way they did for him. Maybe you can soak number 38's shorts this week saints as im sur they have plenty of skid marks on them along with the grass stains from him being bent over continually during the course of the day!!!!

The arrogance of Douttas shining through again, hate to break it to you. I have nothing to do with Abers. I got it wrong, well played Kade. If he can do it consistently maybe Douttas can move out of the bottom two, but i doubt it....
