There is no doubt clubs have different focuses, on field over off field and vice versa.
At one stage the off field upgrade was pushed out to 2027. What I'm saying is Maribyrnong have so called better connections at all levels and cannot achieve any change. Maybe they have upset some one along the way.

That’s nothing Abers pavilion is due for an upgrade in 2029/2030, which is a joke. The rooms are a disgrace especially the change room/umpires facilities and needs immediate upgrade.

Agree on this.

What I find a joke is the prices that are paid by government to upgrade, renovate etc. If only you could source trades yourself it will be much cheaper. But can’t do anything without council permission.. Just a rort..

Problem is most builders put higher price on because they know it’s a council. What we need is the job done by smaller builders not these big commercial ones because they have bigger profit margins

Where do u think council is going to find all this money to upgrade grounds. It cost anywhere from $500k-750k to fully resurface a ground.I’m sure you’ll be the first one complaining when your rates go up 10-15% to pay for this.
I am not sure where the money will come from but it will only take on kid to break something due to the ground condition and a $ hunger parent to sue the arse out of the council for it to change . Also the council as owner and keep of the ground have a duty of care to provide grounds that are in a good safe condition

Here lies the problem. It's just an open expanse of land similar to Fairbairn Park. The council would have to do what they did at Aberfeldie Park, close Monk Reserve for at least 18 months. By close, completely fenced off. It would be a major project $$$ however given the amount of games that are played there it would be a worthwhile investment. However as I said in a previous post MPFC have more connections than any other club and seem to get the least support.

Who else uses the new venue next to the athletics track. Played Abers there recently in a junior game, not sure if Marby use it also. Great facility, ground and rooms. Would have cost a bomb and if it’s under utilised, money poorly spent. Other grounds and rooms should have been done first. As mentioned, Abers and Marby. Plus for Marby they could use that ground if needed if there surface was to get re done.

Abers use the ground for all of their Womens and Girls matches and a few Boys matches.

The pavillion was purpose built for women. It is where the Essendon Womens cricket team play.

Won’t be able to sue council because both clubs have to sign off on the condition before each game. So the onus is on the team managers to make sure the ground is safe before they start the game not the council

What qualifications do an u/19 Team Manager have to determine if an oval is safe to play on(yes they have to sign off on an App but anyone can do that)?
That would be the question raised if it ever went to court. If there was a serious injury both EDFL & Council would be liable as they would need to show reasonable steps have been taken to ensure Safety. The question will be, is having unqualified people complete and App enough?

How do the EDFL decide the radio game? Surely Marby Vs Abers or Greenvale Vs Keilor would be a better game than Avondale Vs West Coburg ??

Regardless should be a good weekend of footy with the potential for finals spots to be locked in by the end of the round.

How about instead of talking rubbish for a change people give their tips on who is going to win games of footy this weekend.

Heres my tips...
Avondale by 30
Keilor by 18 (Expect some big ins)
Strathmore by 50
Abers by 35
Pascoe Vale by a lot! (Watson could kick 15)

Why would Keilor play Nash Holmes when he can’t qualify for finals?

Win today guarentees keilor top spot & a week off of 2nd chance in finals. I’d say most sides that had a listed vfl player who is in great form available for selection in a must win match would play them wouldn’t they? With how tight the comp is this year a top 2 finish could be the difference in going all the way or not

I tend to agree with you Route. If he was coming back from injury or poor form then that’s fair enough but Nth have the bye so it doesn’t make a lot of sense unless he needs to the $$. Could it upset a few fringe players??
I guess if he wants to play then Keilor would have to accommodate him as that the situation these days but if Keilor have chased him to play it’s unusual. Usually the player would want the week off and Nth would want him to avoid the possibility of getting injured as they are still a chance to play finals so it’s a difficult one.

If this is a real question;

Why would Keilor play Nash Holmes when he can’t qualify for finals?

It's quite possibly the dumbest question I've seen on any forum.

Start by his in the best 22, You play to win, it's his local club, he may have been told he needs to play from his VFL coach & lastly Keilor would hold hope when he finishes VFL, he only wants to play local footy with them.

Dumb question or dumb decision from Mick?
Change a winning side, someone gets dropped probably not for poor form. Holmes named best and you lose. Worked out well.

Final 4 now set. Pacco miss again and must be bitterly disappointed. Also Marby miss wow. Especially after the start they had. The finals will be interesting this year. Seems like it could be very close. Well done Greenvale on beating Keilor, although you may ask how much was Mick foxing to sus out what Greenvale had in them. very interesting to see how it plays out.
