Marby have picked up former Albury premiership captain Jayden Kotzur, the bloke can flat out play.
Mo Kaakour has also put in a clearance to play there.

Heard from a good source close to the club today that barnard will be shown the door and lekkas will coach the rest of the season. Major sponsors, committee members, and supporters have basically said he goes or we go. Some reserves players have tried to get clearances as the reserves coach told them they were for the lack of a better word shit and to go play somewere else when they stuggle to fill a side on a saturday anyway. There 18s and ressys used to be one of the strongest teams in both comps and now the cant fill sides. Cant see them staying up this year and probably wont take long for them to hit c-grade.

Thats just embrassing for football really.

So who will be first to go Barnard or McGuane? Keilor must be a happy place at the moment! The pressure of the expanding aera and large debt now mounting poor performances on the field taking it's toll

Barnard surely, McGuane has proven himself to be a quality coach.

Greenvale thumped Douttas, the scoreline flattered the Jets in the end after overrunning EDS in the second half. Plenty to look forward to for the Stars, plenty of dash and skill through the middle. When they add a few more strong bodies and a more defensive mindset and they'll challenge the better sides.
Disappointing for the Jets was the loss of Jorgo with a hamstring injury early in the game.
Best for Greenvale were Kuret, Nayna, Wight and C Johnson.
Best for Doutta were Langtry, Lynch and Whelan

Amazingly after just 5 rounds there are 2 games plus percentage (almost 3 games really) between the top 4 and the rest. Is the Top 4 already set?

They thought there were problems in Div 2, but are we seeing something similar in Div 1?

There looks like a huge gulf between the haves and the have nots. Is 10 teams too many?
Nah considering Marby Keilor and Craigieburn could be described as "haves".
Marby has a lot of new faces so will take a while to settle, Keilor is having a down year but is full of talented players and Craigieburn is having internal drama. Avondale and Douttas are youngish sides, who with a bit of development will push the top sides. No where near the problems in division 1 where a handful of clubs look like they have no hope most weeks.

Agree with your comment. All sides deserve to be in the Premier division but saying that unless you can fund a couple of marquee recruits you will find yourself outside the 4.
Marby Park have come back to the field based on spend.
Keilor have comeback based on their budget spend. The league s getting better each year.
Craigieburn have the funds available just don't know how to put it together. & lets not beat up on Barnard again. There are more people responsible for where they are at.
Avondale have proven year in year out they deserve to be in the Premier div but finances dictate just how far they can go.
Douttas have been disappointing but have stayed up & look to be developing a list going forward.
PV haven't seen them yet but results indicate they deserve to be there.

They tell me Barnard took a 25% paycut to purchase a couple more players. They recruited well from Jacana over the summer so now they will be able to buy the rest

he used to play in the northern league as a 19 yo and got suspended and has not played for 3 years but edfl won't let him play still??? very unfair considering what happened was very minor.

he copped 20+ weeks from an all in brawl from u18s or19s in nth league 2008? so does that mean a life ban?

Isn't it 15 weeks and that's it?

Must have been a pretty nasty fight.

It was.

In the worst case, a player was suspended for 24 weeks after he king-hit and then kicked a Greensborough player. The victim, 17, suffered facial fractures and a broken nose and requires surgery.

Sounds just like the kind of guy the Edfl needs.
"There is a de-registration policy that kicks in if you accumulate 16 weeks or more of suspension, but that doesn't apply in (the) juniors," Mr Crompton said. Sounds as though he should be eligible to play, unless the EDFL has adopted a no ****wit policy.

There is a reason the EDFL is such a high standard with ex AFL and VFL players playing in it.
Allowing thugs like this would discourage quality players from playing in our competition.

EDFL need to start getting serious on clamping down on off the ball stuff. A couple of teams have gone backwards this year with BS cheapies off the ball

Abers ground.
