Not associated with the club at all but it does seem like your taking pot shots. Regardless of what they spend or have spent, if it isn't hurting the club why does it bother you. This year the CLUB got the Seniors, Reserves, Undr 18s, and Undr 16s into grand finals, winning two of them. The juniors had a a huge showing in finals, and won their fair share of premierships as well. The year prior and the year before that were similar stories. Obviously Abers is a well run club, you may not like them, but they are well run and in my mind a successful suburban club. Who cares what who pays who.

I think it's fairly naive of you and many to judge a clubs senior a-grade side, for a whole CLUBS success. Obviously they have a great junior program, and the seniors is well run considering a sustained success over the last 3-4 years. Sometimes a premiership success is not the only indicator of success, and making consecutive grand finals is an impressive feet anyway, regardless of what team is put together.

Stop your whinging, obviously you have some grudge, and it's getting really annoying and childish. Last season Douttas spent moula and it didn't work out anywhere nearly as good, yet I hear no mention of them.

MOVING ON.

<INSERT STUPID STATEMENT WHICH MAKES ME SEEM SMART>
For your information 'bsddbsfbfd', I also am not associated with the club! And no, I don't have a grudge against any one person at the club, as I don't personally know anyone associated with the club to hold a grudge against, or take pot shots at.

All I'm guilty of is expressing the fact that I disagree with their CLUB structures philosophy, when it comes to recruiting new players into the environment that already exists at their club, it's only an observation of mine.

I'm pretty sure that I would find the task of finding a combatant player, that is just satisfied with actually making the Grand Final a pretty tough task, unless you enjoy coming second!

On a separate note, I'm not to sure this is the right thread to express any opinions re Doutta's, as they are no longer in Premier Division.

IT’S unanimous – every Ballarat Football League club wants a player points system introduced as soon as possible.

However, question marks remain over how the proposed salary cup, to be implemented by AFL Victoria in 2016, will be enforced.

When contacted by The Courier on Thursday, all 11 BFL clubs said they were in full support of a points system, and called for it to happen with minimal delay.

The proposed system and salary cap will be introduced statewide in a bid to curb skyrocketing player payments.

A trial will be introduced among certain leagues next year, although it is not known what competitions will be involved.

However, it is looming likely a trial will be adopted in the BFL.

The undeniable consensus among BFL presidents was that a points system was needed immediately.

Even reigning back-to-back premier North Ballarat City threw its full support behind the move, despite currently being an unstoppable force in the BFL.

North City president Peter Carey labelled the move a “no-brainer”, adding football needed a cultural change where players were no longer driven solely by money.

“The costs for all clubs is just unsustainable,” he said. “It’s taking a lot of the joy out of it for club people, who are nearly all volunteers. We’ve been advocating for this for years.”

The move was also backed by Sunbury which, before this year, was considered one of the higher spending clubs within the league.

Lions president Jack Ogilvie said the proposal was the reality check that country football needed.

“Local football should ... be something people enjoy, but having to come up with ridiculous amounts of money takes the joy out of it.”

The Ballarat Football League, not known for its high player payments despite its reputation as one of the strongest country leagues in Victoria, will hold a board meeting next month where it will decide whether the club will take part in next year’s trial.

BFL operations manager Aaron Nunn said the issues involved with implementing a statewide system were complex.

“Now it is about talking to the board and talking about their willingness to take part in a trial,” he said. “There are a wide range of issues that need to be resolved. It is not just a matter of implementing a salary cap and points system and being right to go.”

AFL Victoria announced its plans on Wednesday at a statewide leagues conference as a means to curb sky-rocketing player payments throughout the state.

The sooner the points system is introduced to local leagues STATE WIDE, the better off football will be STATE WIDE.

The points system will definitely highlight the current inadequacies and limitations of CLUB administrators and employees that currently exist at numerous clubs STATE WIDE.

Those clubs that have a quality CLUB STRUCTURE currently in place will reap the rewards immediately.

Might be needed in the country where clubs struggle to recruit and generate sponsors, however I would argue that the EDFL Premier division has never been more even and competitive. So if it ain't broke don't fix it.

What is a successful club structure?? I would think having people who are capable of networking to encourage sponsors and with the club providing a welcoming environment for sponsors to want to be part of the club would be a key element in any 'club structure' as would recruitment.

Is it actually in place? As the article says they are intending to put it in place, which would suggest it hasn't been passed as yet.
From what we have been told 2015 is to trial out scenarios etc in different associations ie BFL
2016 to be the first year vic wide

I reckon it will end up a VCFL thing only.
Disagree as you will then find the standard of country footy will drop there are heavy investigations due to large payments that the ato is involved and especially when it's advertised so readly like on these sights of players getting a gorilla a week or 40,000 or even a 100,000 it can't work unless it's across the board works in WA
So guess it can here

Just don't see the VMFL clubs agreeing to participate in it, why should the vic metro clubs care if this effects the standard of footy in the bush.

No haven't played in years, just like EDFL footy and think the premier division is as strong and as competitive as it has ever been. Don't feel the need to restrict growth in the league just because some of the other leagues can't get there clubs in order and can't compete to attract the best talent.

It's very much like business, player payments are market driven, a players worth is only what some one is willing to pay and I think it's wrong to try and restrict the earning potential of players.

The bigger clubs will throw money at the 1 point players eg Fort Caruso.
The smaller clubs will not only lose their good players but lose a long term clubman.
People will say these players will not leave but in todays transfer climate players will move for financial incentive.

If your going down thT track then screw the clubs and there volunteers and loyalty and while where there why don't those earning the big bucks pay the tax not all clubs can keep paying the $$$

Believe that former Western Bulldog and Carlton defender Mark Austin will commit to Aberfeldie very shortly. Would be a great pick up as he would be in the top 3 defenders and also a top bloke to boot ..... Originally a South Australian who has resisted offers to return to the SANFL. Also heard a highly rated VAFA premiership player from Uni Blacks has also committed to Aberfeldie. Brock McLean still a chance to return to his junior club but Port Melbourne have offered the Norm Goss grandstand and Deer Park FC have offered their "suburb" to get him !!!!!

I suspect a grandstand in Port Melbourne is worth more than the whole of Deer Park and Ardeer combined.

In answer to your question 'ItsAllAboutMe', a successful club structure in my opinion would have to be the structure in which the current reigning Premiership team of any one year implemented, in the relevant division in which they competed in, and yes, I agree that having people who are capable of networking to encourage sponsors and 'white knights' to invest funds would most probably be the absolute key factor in most cases in a successful structure, because without the necessary funds it's pretty tough to be competitive at the pointy end of the season.

SUCCESS IS SUCCESS. Not many people remember which club comes 2nd, 3rd or 4th for that matter.

In my opinion, there is a difference between a quality CLUB structure and a successful CLUB structure, but, it's only an opinion.
