the facilities at abers are beyond a joke and they go splashing the cash on a massive new scoreboard...good to see where the priorities are at

That's more a Council thing and probably shows more how good(bad) a relationship the club has with their Council.

Not trying to be rude mate, but good facilities (including scoreboards, social rooms, ground condition & size, change rooms, etc) can be a factor when recruiting players. It can also attract sponsors if you can display there logo or some flick over displaying a few. If they have the money or contacts in council good luck to them I say...

having a small pixelated logo for 10 minutes isnt generating any revenue for the club. everything else you've said is just agreeing with my point, there facilities are crap and for some reason a massive new scoreboard has been approved. players arent signing at abers cause they have a new scoreboard.

doesnt matter now, just will be great if they fail to get a premiership again this year :)

Hey mate, I have no alliance to Abers and also would not like to see them win the premiership as I follow Pacco.
But let's be truthful here, they do have a good ground and good social rooms, except the shared toilets are pretty poor for players and supporters. Not good for taking young kids into when the game is on.. With regards to the scoreboard it does look pretty good ( judging by Puffs pictures) and everything helps when trying to get sponsors on board. Yes it's a small thing but it all helps...

Might take some pictures to our council, as a picket fence and electronic scoreboard would look great at Pacco's ground. And paying kids to operate the scoreboard is becoming more expensive than a pie & drink now that Pacco are kicking so many goals.. Lol

It would have to be the greatest debut of all time Turbo - what do you do for work?

You average 5 - 6 posts a day - it's entertaining and provides some normality on this forum otherwise it's generally focused on Abers bashing!!

None of which we give a flying f*ck about to be perfectly honest - if it makes you feel better and helps you mentally - keep going!! (comment not directed at you either Turbo)

How many clubs fall within the Moonee Valley city council?? Marby, Moonee Valley, Abers, Doutta, Airport West, Avondale Heights, East Keilor, Strathmore... That is a lot of clubs that the one council needs to take care of and share the $ around.. But the 2 power clubs Abers & Strathmore would have the worst facilities of all of them. You would think given there jnr programs they would have far more weight in campaigning the councils for the $ to get there facilities up to scratch. Also no reason why Craig Hille couldn't use his $$ and business connections to knock down and rebuild the rooms at Lebanon rather than spending all the cash on the field.. I would imagine there would be similar people at Abers more than willing to help out in the rebuild that could significantly reduce the cost.

I have to respond to this mate. Surely your not telling us that Marby Park have better facilities than Abers or Strathmore. Please explain!!

Marby have a great location but that's it. 1- Ground surface and size below par.
However it's really a community park more than a designated footy ground. No fence around ground.

2- Social rooms, although new and nice inside they are located in a bad area deep behind the goals so you cannot watch from inside the rooms. Also have shared toilets with the players.
* not bad for spectator viewing as it's mostly open parkland.

3- lighting poor but it seems they have new lights on the ajoining ground..

4- they don't have an electronic scoreboard like some other clubs you mentioned.

Nothing against Marby as a great bunch of passionate supporters and club people.. Love the Marby Barby.,

Abers set up is pretty good and you have a good view of the game from most locations.

Strathmore have similar issues to Marby in that you can't see well from the rooms and the ground and shape are below par. The worst ground for spectator viewing in my opinion as limited room to stand in a group.
*nice entrance to the social rooms. Lol

It would be great if club people could do renovations or buildings to save money and improve things but it's not allowed by council mate. You will be in big trouble.

If you play golf at Tulla you will see they have a part built building on the right hand side. This was built without permits so it's money down the drain. Just sitting idle..

I could go on about the other clubs but I'm sure you get my drift..,,

Puff, it's time for me to do some work now.. Lol.

Puff, I love the big footy trophies so make sure you tick "like". If I get any more I will go into business selling trophies. Lol

Yes they are terrible.
Since Oak Park got relogated, Abers and Strathmore away rooms are clearly the worst in Premier division.

I wasnt talking about ground size, location etc more the general facilities for the players, umpires and spectators.. Marbys are not great but Strathmore and Abers are far worse IMO and to me this is made worse by the huge resources available at these 2 power clubs, who should do better.

Glenroy (Sewell Reserve) would have to be the best clubrooms & facilities in the EDFL by a mile! only downfall is there lighting, like training under candles!

Greenvale would've to be at the top of the list for clubrooms, parking and facilities etc in Premier Division and in fact maybe the league. But in saying that they havn't really been around for long, so you would expect them to be top notch, unlike Aberfeldie and Strathmore.

All very well to make snide remarks about the supposed wealth of Abers and Strathmore and demand to know why they don't spend their money on upgrading facilities. Councils, or more correctly the ratepayers own these grounds, and presumably the buildings on them.

It is councils prerogative if and what funds they provide, and what improvements can be made. Obviously this is done in consultation with the respective clubs, but ultimately the money comes largely from council and not the clubs.

This is true, though a willingness to pay for facilities doesn't hinder the application process at all.

It's also a sign of a committee able to work well with their council in order to get the best results for their Club.
Appears that hasn't done much good for North Coburg Saints. A number of previous posts on this forum suggest that their council has done SFA for the club despite being approached numerous times for assistance.

i think your right.
Two big grounds with lights ,first grounds lights are brilliant only 5 years old , brand new massive scoreboard . Social rooms are in the centre in the ground and they look nice on the inside , car parking around the ground and a big hill for viewing and can fit a lot of people around the ground . Surface is usually pretty good.
