The abers coach cops to much stick on this. Brilliant coach. It makes it difficult when you lose sticks half way thru the third. When you need your best players out there. Pat Brooke's for eds was absolutely outstanding kicked clutch goals in the first final and then kicked 5 yesterday should have had 7.
Eds probably should have won by 40+ kicked horrible early. Abers kicked at 77% at goal eds 45%. If eds executed well like abers Scores should have been about 16.6.102 - 7.2.44. Eds need to improve

Sir Auckmel I can assure you that was not the only mistake made throughout the game.
The boy who passed it off instead of having a shot at goal at least he got a few kicks unlike some others on the ground.

Fair points, but it took you from a chance of being 16 points down with the wind at your back, to 28 points down and with a bit of work to do. I thought it was a pivotal moment in the game.

You are correct on most of your points BUT I will assure you I do not follow/support or barrack for abers. I think they are a great club and do not deserve the grief they cop but I support another side who are aspiring to be as successful as abers.
Great to see you haven't left also sir Auckmel. Too many people in premier thread who like to take pot shots.

Numerous talkin points to come from the game. How strong was Cams pack mark in the last qtr?
Caluzzi would have been very happy to play himself into some form before the big one and thought Balta played the best game I've seen him play. Certainly switched on from the start EDS. As for Abers, obviously everyone who was at the game and has seen them through the year knows they had a bad one and unfortunately at the wrong time. Maybe after all the who ha, the results are pretty much where each team is at. Good luck to both teams this week. May just be closer than expected up until half time. Then who ever can start quick again after will be my tip. I can see the game being won in the third qtr with both sides capable of holding on to the footy in the last.
Auckmel, I saw the player you were referring to getting into the car with his mum after the game and was inconsolable. Mum trying to comfort him with his words being "I cost us"
I understand this is an opinion forum but think we need to be careful what we say and mindful majority on this thread or reading it are 15-16 years olds.

I also witnessed the young fella being quite emotional after the game hence the reason I mentioned there were quite a few players who were quiet.
I don't know who Auckmel is but from his posts not only on u/16 but every other thread I don't believe there was any harm intended. Btw the kid the posts are referring to is a very good player abs a good person also from my abers connections.

I hope the young fella reads this because I would like to say to him ,IT MOST DEFINITELY DID NOT COST YOUR SIDE THE GAME!!!!
He is obviously very passionate about his team and this only shows how much it means to him. Chin up and if all your team mates show the same passion next season then they will do well.
That's footy, EDS were up and Abers were a bit off their best on the day and THAT'S WHY EDS won

I've never been knighted so there's no need to keep going on with the sir bit.

Fair call, although I don't think anything I've said is out of line and was certainly never meant to hurt anyone. It was simply an observation on the game. I hope the kids ok.

Has the venue been confirmed?
Is it Windy Hill or Highgate?
Either way Keilor looking like favourites but let's not forget that douttas have now played 3 finals whereas Keilor have only played the one, you'd think that the coach will have trained their arses off, but still I think it's a toss of the coin. Can't see either team getting up by more than 4 goals. Will be a nailbiter.

Not having a go at you Auckmel. It really resonated with me when I saw him and read comments today. I know your boy copped it a bit 2 years ago when he was at EDS and that's my point. You have a bit of pull behind the scenes with bigfooty and maybe going forward it's something to possibly look. I don't know how but some sort of filter or specific term. I know some people out there would say it's footy and get over it. But statistically, U16 level (especially Div1) is where we lose our players to the game the most. Just a thought.
Anyway. It's grandfinal week and the last of junior footy for a lot. I may be past it but Jesus the buzz and the fire is still there. Go hard boys. Put your head on the pillow Sunday night (or Monday night) and be proud you have your best.

I heard from a mate that Abers were able to stay competitive through Sticks, and Pods. What do you all think? And were there any other Abers "guns" that stood up?

Play as a team, win/lose as a team. Unfair to ask that question when it's so raw for the players still. And you've asked the question twice with no takers.

Not sure what you're talking about here. On this forum or on the field? I certainly don't remember anything on the field.

The easiest way is just to use the report posts function.

It's a great week for any young footballer. Good luck to all teams playing this week.

Abers had 2x10 minute spurts where they looked good, those 2 spurts kept them within reach for most of the day!
On the odd occasion when they switched the footy and created some run and carry, they looked likely!
shame for them but they couldn't maintain it
I agree with the other posts that the kick across ground DID not cost them the game at all, what cost them the game was the amount of times when they had the wind they simply kicked it back to Cam Rayner who got behind the footy and filled his boots, I'm sure Abers would be very disappointed that they let that one slip!
Good luck to both sides this week, will be interesting to see what both coaches come up with?

I feel it will be a completely different game to last meeting where Keillor ran riot playing great team football and EDS simply didn't turn up. That game humiliated the EDS boys and I feel they responded in the best way v Abers. They will have to man up and try to negate the loose men Keilor set up across half back and fight like mad at every contest to have any chance of turning it around. If Balta and Brookes can repeat their great efforts it will go along way to doing that. Will need to try and curb Hitch as he is simply is too classy to be able to run free, particularly in forward 50. Exactly the same for Mo, the other potential match winner.
McBride, big Ivan Pavlovic and maybe Scully are big inclusions.
Obviously the big two of Cam and Ben hold the key and I feel both are big game players that will dominate come Sunday.
I am tipping a huge turn around and EDS by a goal.

So now we're at the tail end of this season, who do you think will be the big 2\3 players in each team next year? I'm looking forward to seeing Taylor & Curmi cutting it up for Keilor and West & Cavalaro at Strathmore.

The obvious one is Bytel at abers and i have seen a few good ones at hillside but dont know names?

Jake Hazik, Jamie Nardone, Tristan Rudic, James Mancuso, Jaksyn Grant, George Fotiadis, all western jets players who will be big next season

All though I have heard a few are moving to clubs such as Keillor and EDS due to fallout in the club this year with u16 div 1...

Hillside have 7 boys down at the u/15s Jets, potentially could have been 12 or 13., with some unlucky boys being overlooked.

Only rumours circulating are that more A Graders from other clubs are looking at coming to Hillside

Before the rumours start flying about player movement. Please keep in mind the ruling. Which states no more than 2 players can move from 1 club to the same 2nd club in the same age group. Example - only 2 players are allowed to move from keilor to hillside. That aside, let's have some respect and make this week all about the 2 well deserved sides that are finishing off their season and for some, their junior careers.
We can talk other stuff from next Monday onwards.

Keillor spy's at EDS training last night, easy to spot
Not sure what they were trying to achieve out of it
Quite hilarious but sad I believe? Thoughts
You will probably find some interested EDS eyes at Keilor training tonight. No harm in it if you ask me and shows the level of competitiveness in this age/division if nothing else.
Looking forward to Windy Hill Sunday and good weather forecast, will be huge.

Care to elaborate on fall-out
There is player movement every year, clubs need to ensure their Jnr program is strong and the culture strong so as to retain local talent in the first instance and then be able to attract other quality players gong forward and keep them, From what I can see Keilor appear to do this very well!

To this weeks big game
I'm not sure I can pick a winner, I think it will come down to what can the EDS coach do differently with his 2 big guns so as they have a major impact?
They were flogged by 70 pts the last time they met so you would think that EDS will have to do something different and something special?
The wide open spaces of Windy Hill might suit Keilor whom I think are a little more fleet footed than EDS
Ben and Cam are big game players I think they will both need to have Blinders in order for EDS to win as the game plan is so centred around them.
I expect the first 10 mins of the opening qtr to be brutal! Let's hope both teams and both coaches keep their heads and the game is played in the appropriate sporting manner!

Can't wait

Agreed and I should have quantified my question by saying assuming no players leave their current club.
