Hawthorn would have to be a real chance at their second as well, has that Clarkson type vibe to him.
His father Brett played some pretty handy footy for the Saints VFL/AFL though not enough to make Jake eligible for F/S.

He didn’t catch my eye as much as others at the start of the year, his size didn’t help things. I agree with all the players that got a combine invite from SA and apart from a few outliers I don’t think I’ll be focusing too much on anyone outside of it. Players this year needed even less clubs interested than other years so it’s even harder than other years to get picked up from the state combines, players will need to smash it in the all-star games I reckon to force their way into clubs thinking’s.

Probably one of the more conditioned builds for his size in school/under age footy, very strong. Probably ends up a state league player, but he brings the effort week in week out. Wish I got to the game being an old scholar of Saints myself but alas work

Throwing names around really, been looking at some older footage aswell and I think he will still translate well despite his size. I wouldn’t be suprised to see him go top 30.
I've been shocked no one has been mentioning him, yeah he's small and take a while to put on some size but he's got great attributes: kicking, speed, agility. He had a cracking game on Grand final day last year too.

5 goals from Brayden Cook today against a good side too. His pre-season testing doesn’t line up with what I see from him week in and week out. He just moves extremely well and he has the self confidence needed to be a gun forward.

I said weeks ago that he wasn’t a top 25 lock yet but watching him even closer especially his older games I can’t help but think he is a shoe in to go top 25.

There’s a bunch of teams that I see as having a marking wingman / hff / marking medium forward as a list need.

I have the same thoughts when I watch him, how’d he run a 3.21 sprint. Such a smooth mover with goal sense and isn’t shy about big moments. One of those guys that wants the ball in his hands. Can see a team playing him as a hybrid deep forward like the dogs did last year with bailey dale.

He's inside mine that's for sure. The thing that stands out to me is his ability to read the flight of the ball in the air. Far above his peers at Under 18 level. Clever player.

The issue he will have and it’s common in the AFL is how his style translates at the next level. You look in the AFL now and there isn’t many forwards in the 185-190cm range looking AA caliber. The likes of Stephenson and Rozee are match winners but still have a long way to go to be seen as genuine stars of the comp.

He has to develop a better contested game to make himself more versatile at afl level, it’s the only thing holding him back in my rankings. After we’ve seen players like Stephenson, dale etc struggle when they can’t find their own ball.

I agree, long term I think Cook could be a real dynamic sort of winger with his kick and marking, but early on it'll take a very specific set up to allow him to do well and get time in the AFL side

I always look at draftees and say they either need to show they can win the ball (get first hands on it) or gut run. Do one or both but if neither it’s harder to see how they make it. It’s my current question mark over a super talented guy like Farrell at port who currently isn’t applying either of those to his game.
It was my knock on mead last year who didn’t work outside hard enough or win first touch until the last game of champs where he blew me away when he went inside and showed how quick and clean his hands were in close. It’s my current question over taj who is moderately okay at winning his own ball and alright at getting outside but not really strong at either and at the next level winning his own ball will become infinitely harder against much bigger and more congested midfields.

Cook could develop a gut running to space high workrate and be very effective with his marking ability and kickingz I haven’t watched enough of him to know if he could or will, it’s just a way I could see him making it.

Yep or be great at applying pressure. If you don’t bring 1 or any of those 3 traits it’s hard to make it, unless the team you’re in makes a specific position that allows you to prosper, example what collingwood did sitting Stephenson deep using his speed. Now he’s no longer in that roll, his position in the side is no guarantee.

What sort of current day player do you think Hollands most closely resembles?
Someone like Connor Rozee when forward, I haven’t seen enough of him in the midfield to get a gauge for the type he would become.

I would have thought more a Petracca? He seems like he'll be a lot bigger than Rozee.

They are about the same size, exact same height. Rozee certainly has a frame that'll put on a lot more weight as he gets older. Not sure if he'll get to 96kg, but probably near 90ish.
