Interested to hear why you have Powell rated ahead of Poulter? Would have thought Poulter has far more upside?
That’s a mock draft and not representative of my rankings although they are both pretty close, Powell still has some upside of his own after missing a lot of last year with injury.

Our boy seems to have handled the step up to Reserves no problem, pity the Finals are upon us or he might even have been a sneaky chance for a League game..

Seeing a name there from last year's discussions, how's Damon Freitag been this year?

No more school football in SA so we should see some much stronger sides and look forward to seeing the likes of Robins and Carruthers again. I believe Pedlar copped an injury playing school football so unsure if or when he comes back.

My focus this week again was on the WA talent, Chapman played really well again for West Perth and has really firmed as a genuine top 20 prospect. Matthew Johnson from Subiaco is a player to look out for next year as a 190cm inside mid and he has had a very good season to date but would like to see him kick more. Kane Bevan is a key defender for 2022 from West Perth and looks a likely type.

Was very happy to get a look at South Fremantle aswell especially to see Neale who impressed me in the all-stars game last year with his athleticism. He looked very good and is certainly a great athlete with heaps of potential, I would like to see him really clunk his marks a bit more but he does move really well at ground level and his skills are also decent for a big man. He has a lot of promise and could see a club taking him in the 2nd round.

Jesse Motlop showed he could hit the scoreboard against better opposition than PSA teams kicking 4 goals and also getting 14 disposals. He has great goal sense and is a one touch player and if he could show more overhead he could end up a Charlie Cameron type. He will have a fair bit of interest next year. Another player for next year from South Fremantle is Kai Holmes who is a 190cm medium forward who moves well and tackles hard, hopefully develops into a Miles Bergman type in his draft year next year.

Jaiden Hunter and Zac Meloncelli again had solid games and look the best WA prospects likely to gain only a state combine invite. Hunter needs to be able to play key position though and hopefully gets that chance playing for WA all stars next month. Meloncelli is a smooth operator and smart player from the back half and despite having a great athletic profile I don’t think he uses it enough to show of more tricks.

McDonald had one of his harder opponents to go up against in Zach Strom who is a likely to make team of the year down back. Could have had a bigger game if he held onto more marks and converted some getable opportunities finishing with 1.3, I expect him to nail a lot of those missed marks when he matures and puts on more size.

O’Driscoll plays team first football which is why i really like him, he might not be the flashiest but he is a player that every team could use. He played the last quarter in the guts when the game was hot and he didn’t give his opponents an inch at stoppages and tackled as hard as anyone, he will be a coaches favourite and likely bnf winner at whichever club picks him up.

DGB had a low key game compared to last week which has been his issue really, he has never been a big posession winner as a defender and rarely runs up the ground to receive unlike Heath Chapman. He gets most if not all his touches when he intercepts which is a slight concern for his overall impact week in and week out at the next level.

Keep an eye out for Lachlan De Cesare if he resumes for West Adelaide, I think you'll like him if he plays as well as early in the season.

He didn’t catch my eye as much as others at the start of the year, his size didn’t help things. I agree with all the players that got a combine invite from SA and apart from a few outliers I don’t think I’ll be focusing too much on anyone outside of it. Players this year needed even less clubs interested than other years so it’s even harder than other years to get picked up from the state combines, players will need to smash it in the all-star games I reckon to force their way into clubs thinking’s.

Thanks for delivering on the Motlop write-up 😄

When I do my proper rankings for 2021 it will be a top 30. I’ve already got a better grasp on the interstate talent due to the better access of footage and funny enough it will be the Victorian kids that get underrated as some I haven’t seen since last year so I’m going way back on what I saw of them. Vic Metro dominated the championships last year and plenty of good kids didn’t even make the squad with one of those players definitely in my top 30 aswell.

I also have a small list of players for this year that aren’t academy hub players that ive liked, it’s rare that those players go top 20 let alone top 25 for my rankings but I still want to put these names out there to perhaps watch for next year aswell.

Victoria
Max Heath - Sandringham
Fraser Rosman - Sandringham
Charlie McKay - Sandringham
Darby Hipwell - Sandringham
Will Hart - Oakleigh
Dylan Thomas - Oakleigh
Heath Ramshaw - Northern
Liam Kolar - Northern
Jackson Bowne - Northern
Mackenzie Hogg - Northern
Joel Trudgeon - Northern

Allies
Max Pescud - Gold Coast
Maurice Rioli jr - Oakleigh

South Australia
Luke Pedlar - Glenelg
Hagan Wright - Glenelg
Xavier Robins - Glenelg
Finn Heard - Norwood
Brayden Cook - South Adelaide
Phoenix Spicer - South Adelaide
Liam Hamilton - South Adelaide
Malachy Carruthers - Sturt

Western Australia
Zac Meloncelli- Perth
Jaiden Hunter - Perth
Logan Guelfi - Claremont
Logan Young - Claremont
Lachlan Vanirsen - Subiaco
Tyler Brockman - Subiaco
Edward Curley - East Fremantle

Any good quick small forwards coming out of this draft?

Well your club could play Campbell and Gulden in those roles and they would do extremely well but if your greedy then the likes of Spicer, Durdin, Pescud, Mitchell, Ginnivan, Coleman (bid), Rioli jr (bid), Western (bid), Newchurch (bid), Bowey, Laurie, Preston and Winder are all players capable as small forwards who got combine invites.

I prefer trading up for Carroll. He's going to be a gun winger.
It’s a hard one, with the Vic kids not playing.

I believe in our system, that Ford could also become a gun wing, with the potential to play on ball and up forward.

I believe Ford has one of the highest ceilings of kids in this draft. I’d hypothesise that his potential is just as high as Rayner’s.

The current questions with Ford, from a spectator point of view, would be his personal drive and consistency.

Is Bowey addition based on anything or just throwing some names arounds?
Throwing names around really, been looking at some older footage aswell and I think he will still translate well despite his size. I wouldn’t be suprised to see him go top 30.

He did perform well in the futures game from memory.
Did well in his NAB League games as well. Got the pleasure of playing against him in seniors last year, obviously a pretty low level comp but was convincingly a level above. I think he's more likely to play a Baker/ Daniel type role as a back flanker though

He reminds me a lot of John noble aswell. He has elite foot skills, one of the best kicks in the draft, could see someone like Carlton going after him.

Hawthorn would have to be a real chance at their second as well, has that Clarkson type vibe to him.
