We are close to the blackout period now, VCE commences week starting Nov 9. concluding 2 Dec. Is the draft date absolutely locked in I wonder? I assume that answer is yes. I think your comments sound pretty spot on to me, I would doubt they will put any sort of selection games on for Metro boys when you consider everything that has to happen.School is an issue as there is a black out period for a month (week leading up to and 3 weeks of exams) where they aren’t meant to have any football commitments, clubs can’t make contact with kids either. Presuming the metro combine will be in a week or 2 before they start exams. Doubt they make them play games a week or 2 before the draft off zero training.

So what’s the point of making them play, when recruiters will take nothing out of it. It just puts players at a massive injury risk and if I was a player I’d opt out. This isn't a normal year and it certainly isn't likely to be multiple games.
A single game with no training etc is realistic for the Metro kids.
It's not like training is going to impact on anything anyway, they have all missed 6 months of training and their fitness will be contingent on how they have trained in their own time anyway. Thats not going to change now.
It's 2-3 hours out of a single weekend, not an entire final series or carnival.
I didn’t do them myself but expect them sometime today, for both games aswellWhen will your match reports go up for last night's games?
My boyI didn’t do them myself but expect them sometime today, for both games aswell
My old school Henley High has been pumping them out.My boy
Commendation to the Draft Central guy that wrote this up....bang on.
Phoenix Spicer
Phoenix Spicer is a talented small forward / midfielder from South Adelaide who has burst onto the scene in 2020 as a potential AFL Draft bolter.afl.draftcentral.com.au
Nope, I know that Lord and Eyre also took part but that’s about it atm. Bruhn and Henry did all the testing too which is promising since they missed pre-season testingAny news filtering out yet re the Vic Country lads testing over at Bendigo yesterday?

I think that's a bit meaningless nowadays. Henley High is the local high school in my area and I appreciate what they do, but it is a specialist sporting school with a bit of an emphasis on football. A lot of the football elite at HHS most probably pass 4 or 5 high schools to get to HHS. In the early sixties when I went to high school, each school prided themselves on having the best LOCAL talent, but things have certainly changed and most probably for the best. Private schools have been enticing sporting talent for ages. Like AFL clubs, it seems who can attract the best talent and has the most to offer. I'm still very proud of HHS.
I have him in the 20-40 range, he wouldn’t be a bad option as midfield depth in the teens very smooth mover but does lack a bit of an inside game so will likely start out on a wing.eDPS, where do you see Finlay Macrae's draft range and would you see him as a possible option for Essendon if they are to acquire another pick in the teens?
He has some McCluggage like qualities, smooth player and clean with the ability to also hit the scoreboard. I think he is more likely to play half back at AFL level though, he could also play forward but don’t think he has the defensive game for it yet. A late December birth so could have a lot more development left in body and mind so I think he provides good value in the 2nd round of the draft.Hey mate, what are your opinions on Jack Carroll and his draft range? Cheers
Gold Coast suns still have extra rookie spots , any ideas who they will takeI didn’t do them myself but expect them sometime today, for both games aswell
Wouldn't that depend a lot on how many NT lads they pre-list or are they considered outside the list number they're allowed?Gold Coast suns still have extra rookie spots , any ideas who they will take
There is a lot more pressure on set shot at the next level so it’s very hard to gauge as a skill set for a junior player.Hi eDPS Watching the GF last nights it struck me how important accurate set shot kicking is. Despite being a top power forward Hawkins is prone to missing kickable set shots. Riewoldt rarely misses a scorable set shot and even though he didn’t do much last night, he still snagged his few opportunities that came his way.
For some reason I never hear recruiters or draft watchers putting much emphasis on the important skill of set shot accuracy. Instead, athleticism and agility are given far greater consideration it seems. If you had to pick one player from this draft pool to Kick a set shot from 40m, who’s hands would you want the ball in? Is there any KPF as accurate as Jack Riewoldt for example?
