The fact that the Suns are trading him, when based on talent alone he should be on their keep at all costs list. He has repeatedly failed to meet the expectations of the Gold Coast Suns, through poor off field decisions that Harley is ultimately responsible for.

Bennell might turn it around and come good at his new club or he might go off the rails completely, considering that the last thing Essendon needs after the last 3 years is more off field controversy, it's a no for me.

Bennells worth every risk to us for a pick we either attain from Carlisle or our 2nd round pick around 22. Its a calculated risk.

So Winderlich gone, Carlisle gone, Fletcher gone, and about 4 more potentially gone, all of a sudden defence becomes a genuine need, the cupboard lacks quantity.

B: Baugley (Ashby), Hurley, Gwilt (One of Pears or Steinberg)
HB: Hibberd (Browne), Hooker, Gleeson (Fantasia, Stanton)

That's basically what we're rolling with going in to 2016, and that's disgustingly thin, even though 4 of them are potentially AA caliber. Bare minimum has to be one draft age key position defender, then later on you'd think we look at Brown (Hird basically said we would draft him if available, I doubt that's changed). I'd take it even further and look at another developing tall defender if we find someone we rate appropriately.
