Carlisle isnt even worth pick 5.

Ill happily admit i got it wrong and had no idea if the saints swap pick 5 for him. I cant see him being worth any more than pick 8-10 really. Maybe if the saints get their pick pushed down the order to 8 but even that might be a stretch IMO.

I'm almost at the point of saying **** it, take a second rounder so we don't have to listen to every dick wad saying he's not worth a high pick.

With the way our football and recruiting department is talking about the draft i think pick 5 will be off the table altogether (should he nominate us). I think our strongest offer would be pick ~25 and Ross. Sure you may not like it, but neither would we.

Maybe our long term strategy can be to use Pears to drive up the salary demands of opposition players by helping them perform better which over the long run will lead to list inflation and place us in an advantageous position.

Not really, apparently Collingwood are tabling a 6 year deal and atleast 4 of those years will be under new salary cap arrangements. Could be a masterstroke and is hopefully something our club is looking at emulating with another in-demand player.

Just look at it objectively, what you think of Carlisle as a player becomes irrelevant.

It looks like he'll be offered around $600K to be an 8 to 10 year full back (or maybe a full forward depending on what a club needs, which is a sign of how good he is) that will take any prospective buyer through to their "premiership window". He can play the 4 most difficulty positions on the ground and play them well.

How is that player not worth a top 10 pick? If St Kilda put 5 on the table ultimately that's probably enough though I'd push for something like pick 5 and their second round pick in exchange for our third or maybe a player like Seb Ross.

I thought 1 was essential before Carlisle made up his mind to leave. I'd now take both without hesitation.

Collingwood have been getting overs for every player they have let go. They've set the standard on how to trade and have played the system beautifully.

Meanwhile at EFC, we can't organise a decent sub committee to appoint a coach.
