Saw a number of his SANFL games this year.

He has AFL ability no doubt but he weighs 70 kilos dripping wet and was pushed off the ball far too easily at that level.

In open space he is great because of his agility but he won't get that space at AFL.

I see him as a better version of Edwards going forward. Would you spend a top 5 pick on that?

I saw him earlier in the year, champs and his finals campaign, pretty special player who has improved tremendously. Clean and agile in close, superb kick and pace on the outside. I don't see Edwards in him, reckon he will become something like Harley Bennell.

I'm warming to the idea of Skinner at 24/25. Young KPD to put time into. Michael Hartley at 57 as a mature KPD.

I guess Skinner is not talked about as much as he did his ACL but i agree if he is there at 24/25 i would have a serious look.
He is a good size so does not need to bilk up much and the risk is better at this range than early.

Or Ben McKay as a different option. What are your thoughts on him?

ESSENDON says it can address its key position and midfield needs at the national draft after a productive trade week.

The Dons were able to turn the loss of Jake Carlisle and Jake Melksham into picks four, five, 24 and 25 as well as recruit Sydney onballer Craig Bird.

They have never had such a powerful position at the draft table, believing they will refresh their list next month rather than rebuild under new coach John Worsfold.

Within hours of Carlisle’s trade to St Kilda he was involved in a drugs controversy, but the Dons contacted the Saints to assure them they had no knowledge of any drug issues involving him.

List manager Adrian Dodoro stood firm on the Carlisle trade and said Essendon could reap a quality return with such high draft picks.

“The Dons believe they can take a nice blend of talls and midfielders no matter how the draft pans out,’’ Dodoro said yesterday.

“We are rapt to be in a position where we can get such good players. We have had two years of (draft) sanctions and two years before that we had the new franchises in the competition.

“We haven’t had such good picks for a long time. We have picks 24 and 25 as well so between the four picks we want to cover both areas.

“We don’t know which way Melbourne will go (at pick 3) but there are five or six kids there that we would be happy to take two of and we will spend the next 30 days doing our due diligence and working with the senior coach on our options.”

Carlton will take key defender Jacob Weitering with the draft’s first selection, Brisbane Lions will pick key forward Josh Schache and many believe Melbourne will take promising midfielder Darcy Parish.

It means the Bombers will have access to 191cm Geelong Falcons midfielder Charlie Curnow, key forward Sam Weideman, midfielder Harley Balic or South Australian utility Aaron Francis.

“I think if anything the draft combine showed people there is a lot of depth in this draft. People had gone in thinking it is shallow,’’ Dodoro said.

“In the last two years we had only had two picks in both drafts so we got Zac Merrett, Orazio Fantasia, Kyle Langford and Jayden Laverde.

“It gives us a chance to add to that and we will get a couple of picks towards the end as well.”

Rookie ruckman Shaun McKernan is likely to soon be elevated to the primary list with a new deal.

The club must this week make decisions on the futures of uncontracted players Elliott Kavanagh, Alex Browne, Will Hams and Nick O’Brien.

Veteran midfielder Brent Stanton and defender Courtenay Dempsey both received new one-year deals recently.

Weighed in 75/76 at draft camp and actually looks solid. If you discount players based on that you wouldve never blinked an eye at Fyfe who weighed far less.

Id back ourselves to get him to 80kg would look at his old man to see what size/shape he is

Can't think of to many players making it that don't get a gigg by year 3 that end up being top 30 best players. I know that sounds silly but Even the top kpp's seem to be getting a gig year 1 and in the 22 by year 2.
Depends on what ant555 means by "not getting a gig". Josh Kennedy played 29 games across his first 3 seasons for 18 goals.
