Sometimes genetics and environment can mean a lot.

I say we take Rioli at 4. ;)

I'd almost say genetics and environment are 100% of the reason that we are who we are! :p
Science bitch.

If only recruiting was this easy, every schlub on Bigfooty would be qualified to do it.

I'm glad you cringed as much as I, I thought I was having a stroke.

Good to see the club acknowledge list management issues particularly regarding the lack of players on our list in their early 20's.

Will be interesting to see what 22/23yo they will target. I can see us throwing the house at Ollie Wines next year, albeit it will probably be fruitless. However $$$ talk. Port have just recruited Ryder and Dixon on big money, Boak, Wingard, and Gray would also be taking big chunks of the cap. We should be putting a Treloar type offer to him IMO.

Either Wines or O'Meara (pending return from knee troubles) should be the priorities.

So looks like Steinburg will not be re-rookied but there is a possibility he may still be upgraded..

The merman is gone. Kerr confirmed it last night.

Edit - you are correct - Dodoro hasn't definitively said he won't be re-drafted

True

The balance between inside and outside is something we've lacked for years. Add in goal kicker and the bloke could be in the top 20 players in the league

Pretty sure he's got a tattoo on his head that says "GOOD BLOODY PLAYER"

Free agent, or will he cost an arm and a leg?

I think the reason both Wines and Ohmygodomearaisgood have been mentioned is that they will be out of contract. Doubt they'd be free agents, someone can correct me i'm sure.

Sydney delist Marsh (with the intention to re-rookie), Perris and Sean McLaren. I assume Perris isn't worth touching with the whole multiple ACL thing, does anyone have an opinion on McLaren (Jack Package)? Sounds like a versatile tall, hasn't set the world on fire in the NEAFL but still only 19.

McLaren seems to be a bit of a tweener, Imo he doesn't have the athleticism to be a kpf or kpd but just a bit short to be a ruckman. Only young though

A direct copy from a post I just put on the D&T board:

Very interesting note;

At the members forum last night, a member posed a question as to why Essendon had 'again' be fined by the AFL for breaching the Anti-Doping code. I don't know if any of you recall the incident in question, but here's a link for anyone interested:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-05/essendon-among-four-clubs-fined-for-asada-breach

The answer, given by Rob Kerr, was revealing. He said, very pointedly, that when players go on end of season leave, they are required to do a post season medical, and then attend the administration office to let the club know where they are going and when so that this information can be passed on to ASADA.

Whilst not mentioning Carlisle by name, he 'spat' (for lack of a better word), that a player that had 'quit the club', didn't show for either of these requirements; and the inference was very clear that it WAS Carlisle. Worth noting that Carlisle WAS still under contract at this time, and was obligated to complete these requirements.

In addition, Kerr thanked Hawthorn by name when discussing our off season activities and then stated, and I quote, that 'St Kilda attempted to stitch us up'.

These two pieces of information reaffirmed for me two facts that I thought were reasonably obvious even at the time:

1) Carlisle is an incredibly unprofessional person.
2) St Kilda acted like rank amateurs, and were deliberately attempting to 'under' a deal.

Absolutely deserving of each other. If I was a betting man I dare say in several years this deal is going to be looked at VERY harshly by St Kilda fans.

Hey guys, sorry to intrude. We're running a phantom draft over on the Carlton board and I was put in charge of the Bombers. So far have ended up grabbing Parish, Curnow, Partington and Glass-McCasker (with failed bids for Hopper and Himmelberg from GWS). Thoughts? Apparently you're into Weideman but I think Curnow's done more up to this point and could be a good replacement for Jobe. Would have liked to have grabbed either Mitch Brown or Ben McKay as a replacement for Carlisle, but ended up landing Glass-McCasker who I think could be a really good tall defender.

3. Melbourne -------- Aaron Francis
4. Academy Selection (GWS): ..............Jacob Hopper
5. Essendon ------- --Darcy Parish
6. Essendon ------- --Charlie Curnow

7. Gold Coast ------ -Wayne Milera
8. Melbourne --------Harry McKay
9. Academy Selection (Sydney): .........Callum Mills
10. Carlton ---------- Sam Weideman

24. Bulldogs --------Mitchell Brown
25. Bulldogs --------Harley Balic
26. Fremantle ------Ben McKay
27. W. Coast -------Jade Gresham
28. Academy Selection (GWS):...........Harry Himmelberg
29. Essendon -------Luke Partington
30. Essendon ------Jesse Glass-McCasker.

And please let us never be in a position to thank Hawthorn again, though I echo the sentiments of Kerr as I'm sure we all do. They made the trade period for us.
