Your real opinion is

4 Anybody but Rioli
5 Anybody but Rioli
24 Anybobidy but Rioli
25 Anybody but Rioli
Any freakiing choice -Anybody but Rioli

Reasoning- Anthony Long got delisted and Jake Long isn't what we thought he was and therefore Daniel Rioli is crap despite topping almost all categories of tests.
Entirely untrue. Jumping to conclusions is going to make you look silly now.
Id like Rioli but not in the first round..

MarkG that video was TERRIBLE.

0:09 – has a friend closer to goal, in space, elects for a selfish kick in hope, misses everything, opponent marks in space.

0:16 – burns off his opponent, which looks great, then puts zero penetration on the kick, and it gets interception. That ball was Loopier than Cam.

0:30 – once again gets cut off with a poor kick, had space to run into in the pocket.

0:49 – WTF? Is he adopted? Rioli like? I am not watching 5 mins of this.

Glass half empty...

Kicks a goal from 42m out on the boundary from a single step.

25 metre hand pass to a guy 20 metres out left handed on an angle to create an easy goal (he did many of these).

Stole the ball through quick hands on multiple occasions making defence look stupid and passed with precision onto team mates chest following steal. And this was one of many in this game.

5 full on tackles at speed catching the opponent unaware through ultra quick closing speed.

Takes a mark against guys 10-15cm taller than him, twists in the air while marking in readiness to sprint off if the opportunity presents.

In summary, only one person in the AFL is capable of doing what Daniel does... Cyril Rioli!

Sure he has a few rough edges and criticisms that can be raised, but so do the rest of the draftees.

He is equally offensive as defensive.... a rare combination for a young guy 4000km from home trying to adapt to a whole different style of football.

I get that you don't want him but that video shows plenty unless you're actively avoiding it.
While he makes a fair few mistakes it gives glimpses of rare strengths like clean hands when getting body pressure, excellent decision making, movement through congestion and the ability to hang in the air.

This isn't blitz, I don't think anyone is advocating to pick him up first round.

What if the Rioli name is too much for Daniel; a burden that wears like an unhealed ulcer. He then goes on to develop an eating disorder and ends up like Dean Rioli. On second thought, probably not such a bad thing.

The only bio I know of Daniel is he doesn't have red hair but claims to be quicker than Cyril. Get him in!
True, they could say... you need to put kilos on to make it in the AFL... 75kg is too small.

So he hangs out with Jay Neagle eating pizza and drinking beer every night to put the weight on.

Rioli presents with a dodgy compilation of highlights and he barely even looks draftable, if he presented with an awesome one he'd have people pushing his barrow for top 10. Reckon the chewy centre is probably more accurate.

And in typical bigfooty fashion there's one bloke who seems like he's been awake for 9 days straight that's making logic leaps like superman clearing tall buildings.

I closed it after the first minute, that burst of straight line speed was the only thing that excited me. I'll watch it all tomorrow and put forth a more assertive opinion of him, instead of just aggressively warding him off.

No amount of hanging out with Jay Neagle if you want to become a good athlete and footballer is a good idea.

Neagle was a much better footballer than he gets credit for, statistically performed better than Hawkins over his first 4 years. He just didn't have the mentality required to put down the souvlakis.

Oh yeah Red Black and Blue up the Toffees.
I was not in a good mood 5 mins into the second half when it was 2-2, after dominating them for all of the first half except the first 10 mins.
6-2, much better. What a young and exciting team.

Anyhow, enough of that.
What do you guys think of taking a midfielder less than 6'0" as a second round pick, considering we have got Colyer already.
Would it be too much (or too little) to have a 174cm accumulator from Tasmania in the team?

Haha.

Yes, which is why (though I know Mark was being facetious...I hope) you wouldn't send any young footballer to get any tutelage from him.

I know he had some talent.

Really strong through the hips, bit of a Prestia like nuggety player, unmatched agility and a really good beep test time.
(Why does this sound like a sex hotline to me?)

The big problem is, prone to a serious shank.

Should play everyone twice making it a 34 game season with 2 bye rounds and finals so footy is on for close to 42 weeks then we only have to fit trade weeks and the draft in a 10 week window.:):D

Playing everyone three times gets us to 51. Lightning round robin premiership for one week, draft on the Sunday night, back to training on the Monday. You know it makes sense peoples.

Concern is we have a best 22 containing 18 shankers.
