SAM LANDSBERGER’S EARLY TOP 10
1. Jacob Weitering (Carlton) 195cm key defender
2. Josh Schache (Brisbane Lions) 199cm key forward
3. Callum Mills (Sydney) 188cm midfielder*
4. Jacob Hopper (GWS Giants) 186cm midfielder*
5. Darcy Parish (Melbourne) 181cm midfielder
6. Matthew Kennedy (GWS Giants) 187cm midfielder*
7. Wayne Milera (Essendon) 185cm half-forward
8. Charlie Curnow (Essendon) 191cm midfield/forward
9. Eric Hipwood (Brisbane Lions) 202cm swingman*
10. Clayton Oliver (Gold Coast) 187cm midfielder

Thoughts? Milera's 3 goals in SANFL Preliminary final were seriously impressive.

Are we able to bid on Callum Mills? What are the consequences apart from Sydney hating our guts?

The best teams in the comp don't carry players like the dons do.
Every club carries players, just as Essendon does. You just don't know who they are because we never hear of them, whereas the EFC players are always front and centre in our minds.

Francis or no deal

Francis has to be the first player we pick. Is best available, but is also the 3rd tall rebounding defender to replace Fletcher. I'd be happy with Francis never moving into the middle permanently. I'd like him to be a Hodge style general in the back half with the odd stint through the middle / up forward.

The second pick I'm more open on. Neither Weideman or Curnow overly inspire me - nor do the other mids available. Parish screams Aish, and while that may end up fantastic, I'm certainly not sold yet.

I am very curious on Ryan Burton though. A risk due to his broken leg but upside is enormous. He now measures 192cm and 90kgs. Is a super mark and wonderful kick - both for goal and in general play. A smart forward with clever leading patterns and a way of finding space inside 50. Not explosive but a good endurance runner and tackler. He's got a bit of J.Riewoldt in his gameplay.

If his medical came back clear at the draft combine, I would be keen at pick 5.

If we don't pick up Francis while he is available...

I wouldn't be too disappointed if we picked Milera, but only if it is in place of Curnow. Not Francis.

Francis and Curnow ideally

No Aaron Francis in top 10. What is Sam thinking ?
