I'd probably have less of an issue with the Zorko sledge if he'd played half decently this season
I don’t really care how good a season he’s had, if the reports about the Zorko’s comments are true then it’s pretty pathetic to stoop that low regardless of situation and state of the game.

Are the vicious attacks on Zorko more because of the emotion of the way we lost on Friday night? Not defending Zorko for what he said. He needs to live with that and perhaps that is the catalyst for change but some comments towards him are not much better.
Zorko's comment was pretty foul.

There's a lot of emotion around because of the loss.

Combine the two and I think you're right, but we shouldn't let some pretty over-the-top posting obscure the issue either.

Oh most definitely and I'd suspend him for at least one match and strip him of the captaincy and it would probably be the final nail in the coffin which would see him not offered a contract for next year

But had he been in decent form I'd probably settle for just stripping him of his captaincy

Looking forward to eliminating Richmond. I see the loss Friday has left some mental scarring.

Collingwood to BS their way to a grand final

A win is a win, no BS about it. Pies deserve their wins cause they continue to fight till the siren goes.

Wish we could match them in the 'giving it your all' stakes.

The first half against the Tigers we played well and they played not great.
As soon as they started increasing the pressure we folded.
Blues game the same we sailing through the first three. Blues came at us in the last.
Saints game they brought it in the third and we had no answers.
Every team will have patches when they are on top.. We do not defend well through those.

Melb brought it in the first and we again went to water.

Mentally I think we not great.
Lots of players up and down on form
Not a team first group
We have too many guys going for the ball. Sucked into contests and packs lack anyone on the outside.

Have talent to burn and that helped us put away teams from 10-18
The 3 wins out of 8 games against the top 8. Pies and Dogs where out of the 8 when we beat them
Last good win was the Swans.

all this Pies are Lucky crap

They all play to the end. They try
A lot less players who hyped the crap out like our team does
Although they all put in. Wish we did

If Zorko had any decency he would take the call out of the clubs hands and just relinquish the captaincy now. That’s what a real leader does. That would earn peoples respect. Not wait until end of the season.

Sledging aside. What other captain in the AFL gives away so many off the ball free kicks? We really are an embarrassment at the moment. Coaching and players. Top 8 finish papers over the cracks.

Next year when we miss the 8 I can see Fagan spurting out stats like ‘but our percentage is better than a few teams in the top 8’ and then referring to the ‘huge loss’ of Dan McStay as the reason we aren’t jelling in the forward line. All the while we are still playing Lyons and using the same play style

Players are all sad and frustrated because they have fallen well short of their own expectations.

Team structure will fall apart as players go beyond their roll to try and win the game personally.

This will lead to tension between players and further deterioration in structure.

Think we will lose, and have at least two players reported. One of which is obviously Zorko, who is now going to cop immense slagging from every opposition.

Their Q4 actions have been pretty interesting to observe. Doesn't matter who marks the ball - their reaction time from lying on the ground to stand up is less than one or two seconds. As soon as they stand up, their objective is to feed the runner or dispose it down the ground to a contest. This is also in a matter of seconds. Even Mason Cox was performing these actions and wouldn't hang on to the ball or hesitate.

They are a very well drilled unit at this stage to cut out the idle time and keep the ball in play. It's as if they've been trained to treat every single second as the last one in Q4 and run with extra vigour from contest to contest. McRae has implemented a very interesting model.

yes on the move and players running.
Not jogging or slow. Moving it on quick and quicker.
helps with speed of HB that we lack as well. Daicos is a gun.. and his brother as well.
Not just those two.. Quaynor, McCreery, Noble etc they have so much run
That young guy Johnson been great for them
Apart from Daicos who really young none of those a big name guys. Most young taken in the last few years drafts.
Their older guys not dropped off the ciff like ours Pendles, Sidebottom, Maynard.

Hate to say it but you be excited to be a Pies supporter they are us in 2019

Reserves Report from Lions Website

“The Brisbane Lions VFL side have done what no other side has been able to do this year, defeating the Casey Demons and securing a home final in the process.

Brisbane jumped out of the blocks early thanks to a handy goal to Mitch Cox before a shootout ensued, with both teams going goal-for-goal until half time.

With score levels at the main break, the Lions found another gear in the second half, keeping the Demons to just three goals for the remainder of the game in a brilliant defensive display.

Nakia Cockatoo and Darcy Wilmot provided plenty of rebound from half-back, while Wylie Buzza, Connor McFadyen and Ryan Lesterproved the difference in the air, combining for 22 marks and nullifying much of the Casey attack.

Up forward, Dev Robertson couldn’t miss in a three-goal display, including an impressive boundary bending goal under immense pressure.

The 21-year-old was again in the best-on-ground votes, collecting 30 disposals, six tackles and five clearances alongside his hattrick of majors.

However, it was Mitch Robinson who stole the show. Having been activated as medi-sub less than 24 hours prior, the 33-year-old inspired his team to victory.

Robinson finished with 42 disposals, 11 marks, 11 inside 50s, 10 clearances and six tackles in a dominant display.

Darcy Fort continued his impressive form, racking up 32 hitouts, 10 clearances and a goal, while Henry Smith is developing into a dangerous threat up forward and will be one to watch in the finals.”

If we are serious against Richmond, Robertson, Fort and Lester need to be selected. Fagan has to stop the ‘rinse and repeat’ selection of players in putrid form and reward sustained strong form in the reserves.

Really struggling to get motivated for this one - just thinking back to the excitement in 2019 against the same opposition and the contrast for this one.

Zero chance we will beat Melbourne or Sydney away so it feels like going through the motions.

I'd like to see us shake things up to try and spark something - like bringing in Lohmann, Dev, Madden for Rayner, Answerth, and Robbo for starters.

Ah Chee and Adams automatic inclusions. I'd have Adams in for Gardiner - he is not just out of form he is a liability. Slow, clumsy, and gives away soft frees. I can't believe we are persisting with him. I'd bring Ah Chee in for Lyons and have Dev playing inside.

No way Fagan will make those changes though so not worth considering it.

From top of the ladder at the bye to an elimination final. Eek.

That said I was barracking for Freo and the Pies on the weekend. The last thing we needed was to slide into the 4 again (Fagan - gee it was an even year. You deserve to finish where you do, don't you, in this game? I thought we showed a lot of heart. (Not a real quote)). And it would not have helped to play a limping Carlton at the 'gabba, knock them off and play, let's be honest, not that good a Collingwood in week 2. Could easily see us getting on a role against the Pies, getting to a prelim and all the back-slapping that came with it. So very pleased to be playing Richmond.

Hard to see us winning. Desperately hoping some changes will be made though. Gardiner on merit simply cannot play. 150 games and looked like a first-gamer. Lester or Adams come in.
Lyons or Mathieson should go. Matho was pretty poor with ball in hand. Lyons is cooked. Dev is a walk-up start.
Answerth out for Ah Chee.
If Rayner is out then Lohmann in. We should appeal. Gabba surface the main culprit.

We should have plenty of motivation given the recent loss, and Richmond knocking us off for so many years, including 2019. Players should be a bit on edge after a bake from the coach but not sure that will happen.

From a supporter point of view would love to end their season. I don't really buy into dislike of another side as a general rule. And i quite like posting on oppo boards to get some insight on the other side. But the tiges board, more than any other, is a cesspool. There are some good posters. But the main vibe is 'haha let's smash the BeArS lol pack of campaigners' or 'playing their grand final against us like everyone' or 'bunch of flops think they have a rivalry with us'. It would be something at least this season if we ended their campaign at the 'gabba.

And yes this will be used on their board now, 'of the tears of the BeArS supporters are so sweet, can't wait until their club folds once DUSTY shows them what finals is about lolol'.

The footy department already have these excuses ready if things don't go to plan.

I also find it amusing that a number of people are using that laughing face with tears emoticon to a number of posts about the fish rots at the head with Daly and Fagan etc. and probably the same ones who've been banging on all year that everything is rosey at the club, players are playing for one another, everything will come together and start clicking towards the end of the year.

Amazing to think how deluded and out of touch many at the club are when things are clearly wrong and you've got a narcissist captain that can't control and keep his own emotions in check, which have gone unchecked throughout his whole captaincy and if anything, he's only gotten worse. Its pretty evident that those at the club have lost touch and are happy for things to keep going the way they are which includes playing players that are pets and so far out of form that it is harming the team and likely drive promising youngsters away.

Tell me I'm wrong and if you do, how so?
