Embarrassed to be a Freo fan....

Its the first time ive ever noticed it too (first game ive been to that you actually won in a long time I must admit). I was rolling on the floor with laughter. Everyone was staring at me like I was a freak. Probably the hardest ive laughed all year.

Well now you can understand why we laughed so much in the past at 'We Will Rock You', SGIO chants, and male cheerleaders. :D

People here may think the booing was bad but seriously when a team serves up that shit in the first quarter like we did, can you really be surprised?

Second of all, the Mexican Wave. I do enjoy a good Wave but be grateful that you can still do it in Perth. Here, we have the Nazis ruining our enjoyment of the game by banning the wave (because of the morons at the cricket) and banning umpire criticism. I think Perth has it quite good actually.

Exactly. Doesn't matter what sport it is, if you serve out a dog's breakfast against the bottom side, you're probably going to cop it from your own fans.

Besides, you can't argue with results ;)

as an eagles fan i believe we have you covered for cringe worthy post/pre game music, "we will rock you" just before the bounce, is horrible, reminds me of wildcats games in the 80s and early 90's.
Haha so true :)

I am pleased to say that I am yet to see this lame TNT thing.

The booing at 1/4 time was definitely embarrassing, if not disgusting. The Mexican wave just rates as pathetic and annoying.

Thats what I thought this thread would be about. A few around me booed at quarter time but they quickly got put in their place by a few us real supporters. I can understand the frustration everyone was feeling at quarter time but don't resort to booing your own players, its not a good look for everyone involved.

As for the Mexican Wave...I thought the crowd didn't really fire up until it started, at least where I was sitting. I always enjoy a good wave (the Collingwood game a few years back was great) but it is distracting and a show of disrespect to the players...particularly the opposition (don't know whether thats a good or bad thing though;))

I would have thought that would be pretty good, playing the bottom team, Melbourne.

but usually here, the opposition doesnt really determine how many people turn up. it mainly floats around 38-41k per game. obviously both WA clubs arent going that great so the numbers have decreased.

Perhaps booing them was the reason they ended up winning the game.

You should probably keep doing it just to be safe.

It was the last day of the school holidays.

Clutching straws perhaps;)?
It was always going to be a small crowd. Perhaps it did influence the numbers, given the crap weather the kiddies had for the past few days prior to Sunday aswell. The lack of support for Melbourne and the fact that it was 14th vs. 16th may have played its part aswell:eek: TBH i was expecting at least 33,000 though.

We will get decent crowds for the remainder of our home games though no doubt. West Coast. St.Kilda (Bell farewell game). Collingwood (friday night). Expect around the 38 to 39,000 mark for these games.

I bloody well hope not:eek:!!! If it takes that to inspire them we are even worse then we think. This thought crossed my mind but I doubt the boos were really that audible to the players to make an impact. Wasn't too loud but noticeable from the stands where I was

The prosecution rests it's case.

Seriously, they noticed the silver spoon hanging from the side of your mouth, pegged you straight away

I hope you enjoyed rolling around in crushed chips, stale beer and greasy paper. And honestly, 'hardest you've laughed all year"??!! What since the last "Hey Dad" marathon?

TNT is a great addition, even thouigh it was hardly audible on the weekend.
To those who say that it shouldn't have been played, considering the year we've had, well what a bunch of f**king killjoys. :)

And the Fre-Man-Tle? A bit naff, but hardly "cringeworthy" Besides, football, and sport in general is hardly a barometer for coolness, a point that will be driven home the next time you are are unfortunate enough to see an end of season players revue.

Well said.

Christ I hate all these supporters who have got something "to be embarrassed about" concerning freo....if you have then don't air it here where other supporters will use it against us......

When is school back in?

Surely you guys have more pertinent stuff to be embarrassed about :p (sorry couldnt resist).

Nah, I've been to my share of Freo aswell as WC games and they are both as cringeworthy as each other. Our effort to "rock out until bouncedown" as the bald bloke says is horrible. Although I dont mind 'Eagle Rock' after the game, at least its dignified.

TNT is quite funny but for some reason its just so Freo. Actually, it brings back bag memories of the time when Judd won that infamous Derby medal and Freo fans went feral. I recall TNT getting the crowd really amped and it was almost like I could feel the world closing in on me with every "TNT, ITS DYNAMITE" as grown respectable men and woman were pulling the finger and yelling abuse at Judd til they were red in the face.

Im pretty sure that game against the eagles was the first time TNT was played afterwards, and it really just seemed perfect at the time.

And in all fairness, we were pulling the finger and yelling abuse at the decision.
