Re: Emma Q rates her top 25

Great Work Emma. Interesting read that puts in perspective of player types/potential.
I agree, defintaly good to look at players a different ways then to Phantom Drafts

thought she was pretty accurate last year.

Again people...this isnt a mock draft...and its not where the players are going to drop. Its purely where she rates them in terms of their ability. Going on best available. Interesting to see she got a few players in the rights spots or 1 off last year anyway.

But again, its not a mock draft. I really enjoyed it.

How do you figure?

By my reckoning on ability Rhys Palmer should be number 1, and by a fair stretch.

To have him at 12 is far too high, especially considering the champs he had last year.

There were guys that played VFL 2's ahead of guys getting 20+ possessions in the AFL.

She definately didnt get it 'spot on', not even close imo.

If it is determined on potential, then thats another matter.

Drafting is both ability and potential ability.

Palmer was a year older than Cotchin, Meyrs, Rioli, Morton and Masten. You should be comparing him with Gibbs or Selwood!

Palmer is a gun, but it's not like ranking him 12th as an over-aged player is a slap in the face, nor will her judgement call be known until well into the careers of these kids.

Nail. Hammer. Head. Sure she got Palmer at 12, but Rioli at six was also an interesting place, yet that turned out to be wise. Overall she knows her stuff.

If only Emma drank beer and farted, she would be the perfect mate :thumbsu:
I'm sure she does both.

Would she be the most respected female AFL writer in the media? Knows her stuff, doesn't resort to gutter or glorified journalism, and doesn't seem to push any agendas. She's everything her chief football writer is not.
Emma is the anti-Caro.

i think she admitted that in hindsight palmer should have been higher. but as other people have said he is was eligble to be picked up the year before and got overlooked. he cant have the most ability out of last years draft "by a fair stretch" otherwise he would have been picked up the year before.

also i think a lot of it is one potential... this is one of the reasons for rich sliding imo, because he has a very mature body compared to some others so therefore others may overtake him when they develop a bit more
