I bet you can't even name or describe our youngsters.

Plus it had taken Thompson seven, yes SEVEN, years to win a Premiership since taking over the reins. Knights' era has only just begun and he said himself he isn't going to wait five years and do a slow rebuild forever.

Awww the Essendon fans are getting annoyed....funny not one has come back with a decent argument as to why nash, reimers, neagle, johns, lee, slattery etc should be regarded as any good!! Bomber fans know they are up poo creek they are just typically too arrogant to admit it.... Where is Zantuck and Cupido!?! Get them back!! Get them all back!!! Players like reimers, neagle and lee need a bit of game time before you can even judge them on their ability, which is something that they didn't get under sheedy. I think you'll need to wait till midseason to try and shoot the list apart, you say how bad all these players are when you haven't even seen them play. I'm not saying we'll make finals in the next too seasons but I will defend our younger players on the list who have yet to be given the chance to prove themselves. With a bit of luck you all will be eating a nice fat slice of humble pie..... and choke on it too!!

Cant believe essendon the once mighty club is now a laughing stock of the afl, they have one of the worst lists i have ever seen, all there so called good players are facing retirement soon and there youngsters are the worst in the comp whuilst there midle aged players r laughable.

Sheedys obcession with flag 5 has set this club back a good decade in my opinion, his drafting of recycled players since 2000 was beyond a joke and the last 3 yrs have been proof of that, no matter how good Knights is as a coach he isnt a miracle worker and i cant see them finishing higher then 11th.

i feel there are at least 5 yrs of gloom ahead and i am in shock that some ess people think they can play finlas and challenge top 4, wishful thinking at best, this club is going down and it may need to do a Carlton and tank for 3-4 yrs, get some good picks and get good kids because if u think blokes like watson, Stanton, Hille, Dyson etc r going to take u anywhere u have problems, the once arrogant juggernaut now is a joke but i guess most r pretty happy about it.

you win one premiership in 44 years and you think you have the right too question our club. Our young players are just fine, we can compare trophy cabinets again in 44 years and see who is a joke

It's always the same old tired reason...I can't believe the amount of criticism for a team that improved by 6.5 wins from the previous year.

After all our recent retirements and delistings we've got one of the youngest lists in the competition yet idiots such as varcoe label our youngsters the "worst in the comp"...quite hard to be the worst if you haven't played much yet.

I admit that I believe Essendon are going to be out of the finals in '08 and possibly in '09 depending on the development of our youth. However, these ill-advised and downright stupid claims of our youngsters being crap...please get some originiality.

Yes, our 06' draftees are unproven, but blokes like Stanton and Watson ARE proven and ARE young. To the people that think Stanton is crap, please lay off the crack pipe. He's getting similar numbers to that of Bartel at the same age and is only 21.

Winderlich showed early on in the season that he will be very good, has pace and great disposal.

I could go on with a fair few players that showed they have what it takes to become solid AFL players but what's the point? We have the worst list in the history of the AFL

Have you noticed that PA Magpies haven't moved anywhere since Knights was axed, Jack Cahill couldn't get them anywhere either.

Essendon didn't offer Thompson anything.

Geelong supporters and club officials were calling for Thompson's head last year, short memories, love him when you're winning, hate him when you're not!

This thread is prob the most reasonable assessment of Essendon i have ever heard!
Essendon are headed for troubling times imo, Knights is Gone is 3 years...guarentee, he made the biggest mistake of his life saying he could get this team to challenge for top 4, Hardwick must be so happy he didn;t get the job for this bunch of once cocky but now worst team in AFL job!

I cannot see Essendon being up there for 5-6 years, even then they'll only scrape into the 8!
