Perhaps they did end up in a rift and thats the real reason Sheedy wasn't re-signed.
Just another reason to love Lloyd then

I would not call him bitter. He has written a book and needs to sell it so there was always going to be a bit of dirty laundry aired.
He's not exactly destitute Ant robus so putting dollars ahead of the Dons is unconscionable.
Jackson will be gone next year
Costs a lot of moey to water the roses out here in the Eastern Burbs
Of his own choice. There is the trick, knowing when to exit graciously
At $49.99 I'm thinking he's watering his own botanical gardens out at Park Orchards.
I've heard the Clark story before from a very good source within the club. Also heard that Hird wanted to play one more.
What's wrong with Sheeds having a crack at Peter Jackson? The guy has been a great financial manager but he's as arrogant as anything and seems to put his two cents in about footy matters he probably should stay away from.
Jackson will be gone next year and Sheeds will be a legend of the club forever.
I support Essendon. Not Kevin Sheedy. Since 2002 having Sheedy at the club was a bad thing. Sentiment was the only reason he was still there in 2007. Now he's turning against the club and making ridiculous comments that do nothing but hurt the EFC and help K Sheedy. My respect for him is dropping.Well said
Now look at all the very bitter, weak, spineless supporters having a crack at the man who helped make this club Essendon great, remember we were s##t when Sheedy came to us, he and others turned this club around and gave us many fantastic years, day and night flags, sorry I forgot that does not matter now does it, weak as piss

That's why he got the job. Hang on...Sheedy wanting to trade Lloyd as part of the Judd deal is not that far fetched.
After all, Hardwick would have traded Lucas.

We're not St Kilda. We're not Carlton. Anyone at Essendon Football Club who suggests we should trade our captain should be sacked immediately.Clubs cant trade captains? Tell that to Geelong and one Steven King.
Captains are footballers, and all footballers have used by dates. Attaching too much sentiment to one impedes effective list management. Essendon will go into 2008 arguably top heavy with Lloyd, Lucas, McPhee and Gumbleton likely to play forward with Neagle waiting in the wings. Lloyd and Lucas have been awesome for the club... but at what point do they switch from awesome to impeding the development of the next bomber premiership 22? I would argue they already have. Simply ask yourself, which pair is more likely to play in the next Essendon flag - Gumbleton/Neagle or Lloyd/Lucas?
Anyone who thinks Lloyd could not be traded "because he is the captain" or "because the sponsors wouldnt like it" is a clueless flog. Every player has their price.
