Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy planned to get Chris Judd

I've heard the Clark story before from a very good source within the club. Also heard that Hird wanted to play one more.

What's wrong with Sheeds having a crack at Peter Jackson? The guy has been a great financial manager but he's as arrogant as anything and seems to put his two cents in about footy matters he probably should stay away from.

Jackson will be gone next year and Sheeds will be a legend of the club forever.

He's not exactly destitute Ant robus so putting dollars ahead of the Dons is unconscionable.

Costs a lot of moey to water the roses out here in the Eastern Burbs :D

Don't think he was serious. Would not have risked having the Eagles laugh in his face.

Maybe just a dig at Lloyd as he may have felt a few senior blokes were asked their opinions on Sheeds and they may not have replied favourably.

Can't be angry at the guy though, just a bit hurt maybe which is fair enough after 27 years.

I hope he doesn't take up the Richmond "PR" role either. The role is a bit below him tbh. Either coach, President or GM of Football Operations, nothing less.

Of his own choice. There is the trick, knowing when to exit graciously

Not sure why you would select such a small portion of my quote to make a point like that.

I think Sheeds did exit graciously... he would have seen it coming eventually and just saw out his contract. Drafting and list management is a tough gig but the list trimmings were heading in the right direction in Sheeds' final years.

Sheeds' has stirred the pot for his entire time in football. What makes anyone think he would change just because he's no longer coaching? I think it's great.

He's turning into a bitter old man who sits on the sidelines sniping at his former club. WTF does a comment like this achieve? It hurts Essendon. It hurts Lloyd. And it makes Sheedy look immensely bad.

Also Sheeds, Judd wasn't available till September. You were told in July you'd be leaving the club. How exactly were you planning on trading for Judd?

Well said :thumbsu:

Now look at all the very bitter, weak, spineless supporters having a crack at the man who helped make this club Essendon great, remember we were s##t when Sheedy came to us, he and others turned this club around and gave us many fantastic years, day and night flags, sorry I forgot that does not matter now does it, weak as piss

I support Essendon. Not Kevin Sheedy. Since 2002 having Sheedy at the club was a bad thing. Sentiment was the only reason he was still there in 2007. Now he's turning against the club and making ridiculous comments that do nothing but hurt the EFC and help K Sheedy. My respect for him is dropping.

12 flags pre-sheedy, not bad.

When we moved over here 5 years ago one of the first things i noticed about most WCE fans was their mild hatred of Lloydy. The crowd gives him hell when we play at Subi.

There's no way they would've accepted him while losing Judd...no way in hell

Trade Lloyd...:rolleyes:It really does sound like it was the right time for Sheeds to go...

He overstayed his welcome five years ago.
They probably both did.

Jackson saying Sheedy had fun run of the football department is utter crap.
Jackson tied the purse strings time and time again.
Jackson refused additional resourses in the fitness department, in the recruiting deparment, he made appointments without consulting Sheedy.

Great businessman, should stay away from the footy department though.

Clubs cant trade captains? Tell that to Geelong and one Steven King.

Captains are footballers, and all footballers have used by dates. Attaching too much sentiment to one impedes effective list management. Essendon will go into 2008 arguably top heavy with Lloyd, Lucas, McPhee and Gumbleton likely to play forward with Neagle waiting in the wings. Lloyd and Lucas have been awesome for the club... but at what point do they switch from awesome to impeding the development of the next bomber premiership 22? I would argue they already have. Simply ask yourself, which pair is more likely to play in the next Essendon flag - Gumbleton/Neagle or Lloyd/Lucas?

Anyone who thinks Lloyd could not be traded "because he is the captain" or "because the sponsors wouldnt like it" is a clueless flog. Every player has their price.

We're not St Kilda. We're not Carlton. Anyone at Essendon Football Club who suggests we should trade our captain should be sacked immediately.

Besides, Sheedy was sacked in July. Judd became available in September. He was never going to be able to trade for Judd. This is just a petty swipe by a bitter old man who's trying to take down all those responsible for sacking him.

Yes but you don't trade away one of the best FF ever who has proved that he can still dominate the game at the highest level and you don't put a forward line combination as your main men who have played a combined total of 15 games.

Sheedy needs to keep his trap shut. The club has done him plenty of favours, he needs to respect the EFC and not have shots at us like he has done.

Get off Sheeds' back fellas. It's hypocritical to take cheap shots at a bloke for taking a cheap shot.

"It can be a hard thing in a footy club if the captain doesn't agree with what the coach believes is best for the team."

I'm pretty sure Lloyd looks up to Alec Epis as a mentor, and Epis had it in for Sheedy since day dot.

A proposed trade involving Lloyd for Judd is just wrong.

People complaining about Sheeds being a bitter old man is an absolute joke!

The guy has written a book ffs.

Would you prefer it if he held everything back and made it into an absolute snoozfest like James Hirds book?

Get over yourselves people.
