Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

Am I missing anyone obvious, or are we really that hard up for key forwards providing Cram and Hurls/maybe Ryder miss??
Carlisle/Ryder isn't *all* that short (~197cm each). Very light, but plenty of height. I could see Hooker forward in patches, if Pears & Myers both come up anyway.

Might be a game for Dell'O to return, he does find a way to get shots on goal.

Yeah i suppose i mean if Ryder misses too, then i'd expect Glass to keep Carlisle pretty quiet if he plays close to goal, therefore we'd rely on a lot of goals from our "smalls" is what i was getting at.

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

West Coast have played;

R1 - Dogs
R2 - Melb (@Subi)
R3 - GWS
R4 - Haw (Subi
R5 - Rich
R6 - Nth (Subi)

The Hawks were just getting out of bed for the 2012 season when they met in round 4, apart from that you'd be surprised if they didn't win the other 5 games comfortably..

Game is live on free to air this Saturday night. Let's show them who's boss....

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

fair call actually.

I just remember both occasions jumping up and down like a lunatic and hugging strangers at the siren

I lost my shit that night when Scotty kicked that 60 metre goal I'n the last quarter, bear hugged my mate and nearly put him to sleep. great game.

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

Really looking forward to this game. Although I am still debating whether to attend the game or not. I have seen WCE - Bombers live at least 10 times in Melbourne and I am yet to see WCE win. Perhaps I should sarcifice myself for the benefit of the team :).

Our teams match up well petty much across the ground. Personally I think that you have a slight edge in the midfield if NicNat does not play.

Our backline is probably slightly better and our forward lines are pretty even. Although if Crameri and Hurley are out we may have slight edge.

My call is that this will be one of the games of the season and there will be a kick in it. I am hoping WCE will still win but I think that your mob will.

Good luck for the weekend and may we the fans be the absolute winners. :D

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

Only WCE Essendon I've been to was the Le Cras game at Etihad.

Was amazing leaving the ground, some Bomber kids were doing the 'Ooh Ah' chant. One of the kid's Dad's ran up and yelled at his son to shut up. :p

Should be a ripper game. :thumbsu:

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

That LeCras game was surreal.

We just sat back, laughed and clapped in disbelief.

For the most part I have to applaud the Bombers fans who were there; I sat next to a really nice mob of blokes who were more than happy to engage in friendly banter during the game, and even bought me a beer at half time! :thumbsu:

They used up most of their animosity on Knights, it has to be said.

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

finally get to use my membership this week, only been too one game this year and we bloody lost, so really pumped to take on the ladder leaders and get a win!! and maybe just maybe people will actually start to rate us!!

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

Worst decision of the year was in the GC VS Fremantle - 3 minutes to go - GC leading by 5 - Throw in Freo forward pocket - Griffin takes the ball from a throw in - Dispossessed - Clear free kick - PLAY ON - 2 seconds later Brennan is pinged for incorrect disposal - which was there.

Cost GC the win.

I wish I could understand this.

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

And waters cleared. Oh well, 2 out of 3 aint bad
meh. Put forward tags on Waters and Hurn
Predicting a big game from the coaches box, even moreso if Crameri doesnt come up.
Crameri is cleared of any structural damage, so should get up

Re: Essendon vs West Coast (12/5)

I'm backing us in if 1 of Hurley or Crameri plays, if both miss it'll be a real cracker. Man their outs are huge.

This will sound weird, but anyone feel like we've had a good run with injuries this year in comparison to some teams? Hear me out, whilst we've had a high quantity of injuries we're (touchwood) yet to have any really serious ones, and our really A-class players in Watson, Stanton, Ryder, Fletcher and the like have played every game. Our only significant out has been Hurley for a couple weeks. Dempsey and Winderlich are the other 2 you could certainly make cases for. But our 20-30 range players have always been very even, and I'd say almost every single one of them has missed at least a game this year and it hasn't really affected us.

On the other end of the scale, we've finally timed it well as to when we played teams with players out:
Round 1: Ziebell
Round 2: Gray and Butcher
Round 4: Carrazzo goes down
Round 5: Ball, Shaw, Thomas, Tarrant, Krakouer, Didak, Reid etc.
Round 6: Well, Drummond I guess, sorry to be harsh but there weren't many to worry about
Round 7: Kennedy, LeCras, Embley, Nicoski, with a whole lot of fringe players too.

On top of that we'll get a Goodes-less Sydney in a few weeks time.

In meaning no offense to any of our guys, we have had a high quantity of injuries, but except for Hurley none of our real quality has gone down, and more importantly, none of them have been really serious (yet). And we've struck teams with really key important players out. Long may this continue.

Whilst this is true yes, the players you listed were mainly out before the game started whilst we sustained most of ours during the game itself. Getting injured during the game is worse than before the game.

Yeah certainly can't deny that, that's an absolute killer and has happened to us 5 out of 6 games. Which is why, I mean you don't wish injuries blah blah blah, but when Carrazzo and Laidler went down in the 1st you couldn't help but think, "About ****ing time"
