Saha official on the Everton site now.

http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/everton-sign-saha.html

Everton have agreed a deal to sign Louis Saha from Manchester United.

The Frenchman is set to sign a two-year deal - with the option for a third year - with the Blues for an undisclosed fee.

The move will be completed subject to a medical.

Saha has also played for Newcastle United and Fulham in England and Metz in France.

He has notched 42 goals in his 124 appearances for United, having scored 53 times in 117 appearances for the Cottagers.

The striker has 18 French caps and has scored four times - appearing in the World Cup in 2006.

Saha - Everton's third summer signing - will join other new arrivals Lars Jacobsen and Segundo Castillo at Goodison.

As a United fan I'm gonna miss Saha. I rate him a lot and actually prefer a fit Saha than signing a new striker. His major problem is obviously getting on the park but when fit he's an aerial threat, two-footed and pretty quick. He'll be a good signing for you guys and I wonder how much you guys actually paid because he could turn out to be an absolute bargain.

The fee would depend on appearences made by Saha i'd say. Why are you guys getting rid of him when you are so short of forwards at the moment?

I rate a fit Saha as well. But how often do we see it.........

So he is having a medical, yet he is injured at the moment.

Medicals aren't to assess current injuries, they are to determine if he has an underlying injury (like the Andy Johnson knee issue) that could cause a break down in the future - and it lessens the price/cancels it all together.

I rate him, but.. I hope Sir Alex did a good deal for his friend Dave... cause I dont want to pay over 4mill for him. A good 6mill+ profit from Johnson would be handy toward Moutinho (I'm gonna keep saying Moutinho till the window is over.. PLEASE PLEASE - I dont believe in god so I wont pray)

30 year old injury prone striker.. I doubt he would have been more than 5... even more than 3 really.

I've been reading forums and some guy on Blue Kipper (yes, I know its shit) actually predicted Jacobsen and Saha before they happened.. Saha maybe - but Jacobsen? How can he know that! it was so left field. He also posted that we are getting M'Bia and Moutinho... 2/2 - it could be right or now he could be lying. So nervous/excited... least I have the AFL to calm me down for a few hours.

I don't think you could ever be calm watching your team ;) :p

M'bia seems like a likely (and very good) signing to me, Moutinho incredibly unlikely. Actually, you would be best to not expect that one.

I'm always calm cause I know we will lose by 2pts late on :p

M'Bia is more unlikely than Moutinho because we signed Castillo... However if the money is supposedly there.. THEN BLOODY SPEND IT!

/rant over.

What a bizzare couple of days.... Louis Bloody Saha.

Very left field and it's another example of the desperate situation we're in. If it comes off, brilliant - especially if he gets anywhere near to the same form as Yakubu had last season (I for one was very suss about the Yak's work ethic when we first signed him). I'd expect him to be an impact player of the bench to start.

Scousers telling each other to "calm down". Stereotypes ahoy!

Yeah you would think until his managed to get through at least a dozen games coming off the bench he wouldn't be in line for a starting 11 berth, but Saha is class we have seen that for years [when his been fit] and could be a great impact player for the club. If he can come off the bench and net us say 15-20 goals for the season I'll be a very happy man.

Rumors doing the rounds right now is that we and tottenham are going to go head to head in an attempt to sign Henrik Larsson before the deadline on Monday.

I forgot about Obinna (has his signing been confirmed?), he sounds like a great talent and hopefully Anichebe, Yakubu and Yobo take him under their wing, but there is always going to be a doubt when you sign a serie B player with their ability to adapt to a league that is much quicker and physical than what they have grown and matured in as a footballer. I know he played one year in serie A (6 goals in 26 matches) which is bloody good for an 18 year old.
He stayed in Serie B so he can help Chievo get back into Serie A. It was never a question of ability. He was good when forming a partnership with Amauri, then Pelissier. Rumours of him going to other clubs flew around but I don't think his agent was satisfied with the offers.

Obinna should be fine at Everton. Nigerians seem to be more at ease with the faster pace of the EPL anyway.

Well, how do we read that performance.

Looked dangerous for so much of it, just could not buy a goal. On the plus side that is where we will be strongly aided by Saha and Cahill. Defence looked scrambled and weak, and all 3 of the goals were avoidable.

Baines was good, Yakubu tried but I'm still cranky that he took the penalty of Arteta.

Once we missed taht penalty I never thought we'd get back in it. David James was too good. Stoke and Hill for the next to. Look to win one if not both of those games and field a strong team for the derby.

Anyone know when Cahill is expected bacK??

Agree with you that the defence was weak and I think it needs to go back to how it was at the end of last season. Jagielka needs to get out of midfield and back to centre back, Lescott out to left back and Baines up to left wing.

We may have looked a little dangerous going forward... but we couldnt get the quality to find a goal, that was the problem.

Lescott just needs some time to get used to the middle of defence again, Jagielka needs to go to the bench as the backup centreback.

Jagielka showed early last season he is not a midfielder. He showed when in defense he is a class act and his form for a good couple of months there led to his England call up.

We certainly did not deserve to lose 3-0 but it is karma to a degree with the side we are putting on the pitch.

Will be a very long year unless we do something in the next day transfer wise.

just read we put in a $500,000 bid for Larsson.
Sums up the transfer market for us. Spending 500 total.. wow, well done Bill, you certainly are showing those big 4 how to do it.

This is going to be like the ECL season - hard draw, dumped out, start badly in the premierleague and managed a bottom 10 finish.

still think we can make the top 6/8 but from a team that could have pushed the 4 this year with some good signings its a shocking fall..

as long as we get 6 points against Hull and Stoke after the break and can steal the Liverpool game or at least a point the season is back on track..

praying to god that Cahill is fit soon..
