In typical Everton news, DCL is injured and will be out for 3 months plus.

We literally have just Rondon now, even Dobbin & Simms are going on loan.

I assume we’ll play Dele up front (and largely out of position).

Surely Rondon doesn’t start against Chelsea.

He’s suspended, but the thought of him being our regular striker for ~7+ games scares me

Looks like we're about to sign Onana from Lille for a reasonable amount, so we're doing well enough poaching cheap options to take a good young midfielder. He and Gana coming in could really shore us up and protect the defenders.

Those two and a striker in (whether on a perm or a loan) and we've ended up having a really good window.

Shit game. Arguably had the game on our terms and didn’t look threatened with the exception of Doucoure being a ****. But wtf is the point without any strikers. How ****ing hard is it to find some quick bloke from any level. Cornet, **** even Pukki.

Injuries suck but luckily it’s the only place we have some depth.

This season just seems pointless.

Positives back line seem competent. Patterson very good, Myklenko good. Holgate great.

Simms scored twice for Sunderland

I’m feeling pretty positive after last night. Thought we generally played well - a lot better than last season - and for a bit more luck and an actual striker on the pitch we could have probably won.

Iwobi was fantastic in the middle, Patterson showed a heap at RWB and should be first choice ahead of Coleman, Tarkowski will be solid as down back - helped organise us down back to defend more corners than you’ll see in most other games. Myko continues to develop well also.

Thought we were let down by Pickford (old mistakes crept in), Dele (looked sluggish coming on), McNeil (will forgive as it was his first competitive game for us), Gray was a bit scattered but asked to play a tough role up front for the most part.

If we can loan in Coady that helps to cover the loss of Godfrey (horrible injury) and Mina somewhat. It was great that Frank didn’t go to Keane after the injury, and Holgate played well as the third CB coming on early.

With Onana and Gana on their way, joined by Coady and a striker on loan hopefully, things are looking up.

Seriously, Iwobi-Onana-Gana in the middle will be a nightmare for teams to work through.

This is just a continuation of last season and I’m already over it. 1 shot on target against a very average team and barely looking threatening.

Looked better with 4 at the back and Onana in midfield.

I'd still love for us to get Gueye. I think a 4-3-3 with Onana/Gueye/Iwobi in midfield would be good. Get a proper striker and we're working towards something.
