Exciting Prospects

From the one game i saw of Arryn Siposs, he looked like he had some potential.
I reckon Christiensen will take a step up this year, should be one to watch.
And obviously the guys like D. Swallow, McKenzie, Prestia, etc. from GC, and Shiel, Tyson, Patton, etc. from GWS.

A from Westcoast most people wouldn't know too much about but are very talented and might sneak a game this year..

Lycett
Newman
Weedon
McInnes

I don't see Hawkins as a "prospect" - he's an established player with a couple of medals around his neck already. The issue for him is maintaining his GF form across the season, and finding confidence in front of goal.

In terms of prospects, I'm keen to watch Guthrie. Might slot in to a run with role.

In terms of young players on the up, Redden and Harper sprinng to mind. Both looking to be really good players. Karnezis (spelling?) looks to be very exciting up forward for the lions. As does Reid for the swans.

Putting the Gold and Brown glasses on, Shiels will be awesome and Savage could be damaging. Shoenmakers has been in the system a while now but is at the age that KPDs usually come out. He does some very good things and was actually good in the prelim but when he makes a mistake, he makes a big one.

I know he's been around for a while now, but Sloane would be just about my favourite non-Collingwood player.

That seems a little rough to me. He wasn't ripping games apart, but he did hold down CHF all year, no mean feat for a 2nd year kid.

(Assuming you're talking about the Sydney one, not the Dogs one)

The GWS one ;)

Enough said.

I can't see how catsmaninamerica's hyping up of Hawkins is any different to how Collingwood fans are talking up Witts or Hawthorn fans are talking up Gunston.

At least we've seen how Hawkins performs in the blue and white hoops. The other two haven't pulled on the boots for their current sides yet. Hawkins is now 23, which is about the age most KPPs start to peak. While I don't necessarily share catsmaninamerica's optimism in saying Hawkins will be the premier forward in the competition by the end of the season, I'd be very surprised if he isn't our best forward by season's end.

Back on topic, I can't wait to see Smedts run around. Stephen Wells has said he's been the best youngster he's seen enter the club. High praise indeed, considering Wells has seen the likes of Bartel and Ablett enter the club as juniors. Mitch Brown could be an exciting mobile third tall if he stays injury free, and of the new recruits, Chris Scott has been impressed with how Lincoln McCarthy's been travelling over the pre-season.
i believe you pulled Gunstons name out of a hat, i have never read a hawk suporter talking him up, only crow supporters have talked him up! could just left us out of it!

I am not sure if he fits the criteria but i am really looking forward to if/when Sam Reid starts living up to his potential.

He sure does..only played one full season, 24 games. He is looking good from our training videos. Keep an eye on Luke Parker. Love the way he plays and I rekon he will have a great career. And Rohan. And A.Johnson.

Comprehension not your strong suit? I wasn't the one saying Hawkins would surpass those you listed above, Catsmaninamerica was. I also said I didn't agree with his prediction either, so I don't know why you're going off at me.

Hawkins 2nd half of the year was good after we decided to shelve the "Hawkins as 2nd ruck" experiment and play him as a permanent forward. Considering he kicked 22 goals in his last 8 games, it's not inconceivable if he played to the same level for the entire season that he could kick 60+ goals for the season, which would put him at a similar level to what Tippett and Kennedy could produce.

Sorry I was refering to catsmaniainamerica's post which was beyond ridiculous and 98% of bigfooty posters woud agree.

I loved watching Hawkins explode in the finals and deliver what was promised for the past 5 years since his debut but that does not mean he is going to be anywhere near Tippet and Kennedy. You are selling those two stars of the game short.

Imagine if Kennedy or Tippet had been playing for Geelong the past 5 years.. The amount of supply and superstars around them would most definetly increase there performance.

I'm not saying Hawkins won't be a top 10 forward in the competition but seriously he has a long way to go yet before he reaches Tippet or Kennedys level, let alone Franklin, Cloke or Reiwoldt.

Hawkins was very close to not even being part of the finals campaign and is lucky he even got a gig in your team.

Just because he had a good finals series doesnt mean he is going to explode.

Can't wait to see Heppell develop more this year

Koby Stevens from the Eagles is the one Im interested in from another side.
He has ben talked up by the Eagles supporters for a while and is apparently flying on the training track according to one of his coaches.

From the Pies, I like the sounds of Elliott.

Amos Frank....Iddy Biddy Buddy

Buckley, N.......VERY interested to see how he goes.

Not sure it matters though as the Cats and the Pies have the only players even remotely possible of showing anything/winning anything for the next 20 years it appears. I thought Budweiser was only a mid strength beer, he must have had a few.

Also, i hope the Richmond young guys do well. There is a young fella, really well built boy, Arnott is it? Will be keen to see how he goes if not this year, next. Really hope the Tigers come good, their fans deserve to see a bit of success i reckon.

From my mob: hill, good pre-season under his belt ,will be a standout.

Z.Clarke should continue his rapid improvement.

Mora. Interested to see what effects a serious knee injury will do to his development.

Fyfe. Eager to see if he can go close to winning the brownlow, only in his third season of Footy.

Shuey , NN , gaff , darling , Martin , vickery , Hurley , butcher , coniglio , d. Swallow , Duncan , Hawkins , b . Reid , t. Mitchell , Howe , cotchin etc etc
