Adam Hunter was so much fun to watch. You knew shit was getting real when Woosha swung him forward.

I agree. People who think the adaptation to a totally new playing style is going to fast, easy and produce instant results with no teething problems are kidding themselves.

Not only do you need to train that gameplan for a considerable period but you need to have the players suited to it. And if you don't have them, which i would argue we currently don't, you need to draft and develop them. This is going to be process that will take 2 or 3 years to bear fruit, not just a 12 week pre season.

Hardwick was not instantly successful with this gameplan at Richmond. It took him 4 years to get them into the 8 and they only just squeaked in. And they didn't stay in. They fell out again pretty quickly. And this was after multiple years of early draft picks before Hardwick got there.

I think it's only fair that given we will have 27 players under 23 at the start of the season, we can conclude we have already been to the draft.

Definitely going to be hard to learn and implement a new game plan, especially given the young inexperienced demographic of the group.... hence bringing in leaders Baker and Graham to implement game plan on field.

I have Craig Mcrae expectations and we are going to play finals next year.

That'll happen when you train one style(controlled ball movement) and are suddenly forced to play 'chaos ball'.

You'd be a lot cleaner if you constantly train it, I imagine.
Well that's on Simmo then if they can't handle a football and only training mark, kick 10m sideways

plus still stuff up those kicks

True we had no 100 point losses but we had a 99 point one and were down by 100 at half time in our most recent one.

True we have a decent looking forward line on paper but implementing a crazy manic get it forward style needs silk at the end and we have a few "stiff back" type guys

Think Champion (or elusive small forwards) and Baker up fwd would help with this

Destined to finish bottom 4 til we learn to stop wasting top 4 draft picks.

But, I'd rather be a tad optimistic and believe we can climb back up the ladder where we belong.
It's gonna take a top year from most of the side, plus a healthy list (Hewett/Flynn/Yeo/Allen/Gov)

If our players weren't suited to Simmos plan and they aren't going to be suited to McQualters plan you have to start asking why we drafted them in the first place...

I reckon we are going to get a surprise and see a lot more players "show a bit", some that we've quite possibly already mentally consigned to the potato patch.

Looks like the boys are putting in the work which is good to see. Reuben continues to present like an absolute beast.

Really hope he can eventually transition into the midfield at some stage but was happy with his late season form on the HBF.
