He was on the inside the first time but was ahead.

He was on the inside the second time. He wasn't ahead, but Russell didn't see him and closed the door.

Both times ol' mate Black & White defends both decisions.

Denis Denuto is the race steward.

We've got no idea. Let's make it up as we go along.

Pretty awesome drive by Oscar. Imagine how much further up he might have been without the extra pit stop from the Hamilton contact. Great drive.
It's not as simple as saying that we should just deduct the second stop time, which would have put him in 4th.

Going hard-hard-medium meant that he had good rubber under him for the whole race, whereas he would have had a lot more tyre degradation (and thus been forced to drive slower) if he had done a 1 stop hard-medium strategy's. Don't forget that Oscar has a history of being harder on his tyres than many other drivers.

It's impossible to quantify how much time he gained from having fresh rubber, compared with how much he lost from pitting the second time. He probably would have finished ahead of his 10th place, but it's impossible to say how far ahead. My guess is that he wouldn't have been all that much further up the road, but that's only a guess.

The second safety car was about 10 laps too early for Oscar. Hindsight if he had went H/M/H would have him another 10 seconds or so up the road (pitting M-H on 2nd safety car) - but was a great recovery from awful Qualifying and Hamilton spearing into him.

I wonder if McLaren might have accidentally 'unlocked' a method to overcome Oscar's tire deg issues? It cost him an extra stop compared to Leclerc, (however as shown by Charles "lightbulb" moment in the podium trip, the 2-stop was quicker as it allowed drivers to push throughout - Oscar was significantly quicker than the field the first lap or two after restarts, and then most of his third stint. Clearly he had more confidence in the tyres (or was simply more daring) - his lines through some corners were noticeably different, really carrying extra speed through wider lines and even ignoring the apex a few times.

Disappointed about Lando, it seems every time Oscar is good, Lando has an excuse. Was a strange accident, he lost the rear so early in the braking zone and was a complete passenger, nearly taking Oscar out.

I agree that HMH would have given him a perfect run - but that's with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, knowing when the 2nd SC would come. Going HHM gave them a bigger window for when they could do the 2nd stop, and was the right decision at the time.

Absolutely - not everyone can be as lucky with Safety cars as Renault.

Stewards got one wrong, one right.
As it’s Vegas, I believe they may have rolled a dice….

Hopefully this means a closer alliance between RBR and them car wise.

I think that Sergio is still going to start the season in the other Red Bull with a potential mid season swap if there is serious competition from McLaren, Mercedes or Ferrari and Sergio is unable to keep up.

Meh I'll always believe redbull should be forced to sell it
