and Italy
Agreed... though I think they usually try to disguise one of those by calling it the San Marino GP - despite the track being in Italy, not San Marino. To be fair, San Marino is a very small country - a micro-nation entirely contained within Italy (similar to Vatican City).

Haas' performance probably is Guenther's fault whether you like the guy or not, so although I'm gonna miss the dude's honesty I can't say I'm shocked. Haas arguably (maybe it's not even arguable) do the least development on their car in the field. They have relied on Ferrari for parts, concept and components their entire time in F1. Ferrari customers have been the least successful out of the big 3 of Renault/Mercedes/Ferrari in the last twenty years, the only winner has been Vettel in 2008 and the last podium was Sauber in 2012. Nothing since then. Haas have had one decent year in 2018, nothing in the five years since, time to go in another direction if they're serious about making it in F1.

That isn't really on Guenther. He can only do so much with the resources he is given. They will be in the same position no matter the TP until Gene either gets serious about the team or sells.
Apparently he asked for more to improve. Haas said he doesn't want to invest anymore money and is happy being at back of the grid

I'd disagree with it being Guenthers fault. Gene would have been told many times from people who know more about F1 than him on how to improve the teams performances over the years. Being a Ferrari customer and not putting in enough money are two major reasons why they suck. Guenthers replacement Komatsu is accomplished and seems a nice guy but if everything else stays the same I don't see any improvement whatsoever. Hope I'm wrong. Should sell the team to Andretti and give someone who is willing to do what it takes a go.

The thing is, the close co-operation with Ferrari was Guenther's idea originally and I'm presuming he didn't change his mind either.

Williams and Sauber averaged a similar spend to Haas over the years prior to the cost cap from available numbers, so I'm also guessing the budget they're playing with isn't that much of an outlier. Williams showed improvement and potential this year while Haas went backwards again, so not surprising they want to make a move.

LIke someone said before it's a results based industry - Haas results have been stagnant for about 4 years while those around them have gone up and down. Team principal is always the first to go in these situations

I sincerely hope the championship fight is closer this year. If it's looking like last year's, I'll be out. Not interested in watching the year long processions.
The thing is that the races were rarely processions. Verstappen was invariably so far ahead that the producers largely ignored him... and the racing for the other podium positions was usually pretty good.

Yes, the winner was largely pre-ordained, and most races went according to script in that regard - but fortunately the TV coverage focused on the racing for other positions, where there was actually some action to enjoy.

That was definitely true at times.

I tune in season long to see a good battle for the championship though.
