Was great to catch up with Valtteri Bottas with the launch of his new Shiraz wine Ihana at Oliver's Taranga in McLaren Vale today. He has done an excellent job with Corrina Wright to blend his 1st Shiraz release.

Really down to earth & happy to answer questions, take photos with everyone, personally sign everything.

Looks like he intends to settle with his partner Tiffany in South Australia once he finishes his F1 career. Interestingly he said the best F1 events to travel too as a spectator if looking to attend one overseas are US & Japan grand Prix. He's been doing plenty of riding of his bike & hopes to qualify for the dirt road championships this year. Within a couple of weeks back into normal training in preparations for up coming F1 season.... which I wished him luck.

Now just need to compare to Ricciardo's Barossa wine.

Had the pleasure of meeting him at a Gin event in Melbourne last year. He's a top bloke.

Shame as I think the Barcelona track has improved significantly in recent years.

I assume that street circuits are more profitable ?

I don't know about more profitable as much as these places want a race but don't have the space and/or money to spend on building a track.

I think its more that it is easier to paint a picture of economic benefit because you can claim that seeing parts of the city is better tourism advertising than some random field 3 hours away from a major city, and you can spruik more patronage of city hotels/restaurants etc

Valterie Bottas and his mullet is a common site around Adelaide during our summer - holidaying with his partner Adelaide professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell. But yesterday he took things a step further - donning his budgie smugglers to lead the amateur ride from Victoria Square to Henley Beach as part of the Tour Down Under.

Incredibly jealous. I've been trying to track him down with his appearances at the TDU to no avail :(

He will be back in the lead up to the Melbourne Grand Prix. Will be looking to do more events, including releasing his Gin label which is already in Finland.

The uproar and backlash if they got rid of Suzuka would probably only be matched if they got rid of Spa.
Except Spa has already been under threat for financial reasons. I agree that there would be an uproar though.

I did Japan last year. Logistics to get to the track were horrific, but the time at the track was pretty cool. Fans dressed up and there's even a little roller coaster and ferris wheel there. Logistics to get to Silverstone were no better from Milton Keynes.
Canada is my overseas race weekend for 2024, heard great things about it!

Japan was great, went in 2018, stayed in Nagoya. The train ride was 45ish from memory? Then a shuttle to the track. There's definitely worse out there logistics wise.

Also did Canada 2015, unsure if it has changed however there was one train station in and out of the track so there was a massive bottleneck every day.

That being said, amazing track and environment in Montreal.

Ya, we stayed in Nagoya as well and did the train and bus combo. Although after the race, we walked to the other station to try and avoid some of the rush.

I have looked into Montreal and there is a subway, but it also looks close enough that you could get to that side of the city then just walk across the bridge? The only reason I am going to MTL is because of F1. Four days there out of a five-week trip.
