Nope. Every member of the team hierarchy since he came back last season has said that he is invaluable when it comes to providing info about the setup and any changes needed to be made. Yuki doesn't provide that and it is no coincidence that he has improved since Daniel came in. In a season where nobody outside the top 5 teams is scoring points it doesn't matter as much- especially when the car in the first 2 races has been a s**t box.
Not buying it, i like Dan the man, but his days are over. He's holding back the team with even worse results than Nyck De Vries. Logan Sargent could probably run faster around Albert Park than Daniel does driving.

Gaskin isn’t wrong, the only thing saving Dan is his understanding of car setup, I think it’s had a massive impact on Yuki too. Holding back the team more than NDV is a ridiculous statement to make.

The results say otherwise, does Yuki need Daniel to hold his hand? Yuki is driving Daniel's pants off and i doubt Ricciardo will make it past Monaco this year before they change drivers again and Lawson gets a another go. Unfortunately Ricciardo is a slow coach and unless we see some sort of miracle i can't see him making it to Moncaco or maybe Canada?

It’s a very long season and we’re 2 races and a qualifying in, and they’ve split the results 1 each so far. DR had been underwhelming so far but reality is it’s cost the team nothing. I doubt he does improve much, but he might and he only needs to do that either by the time the car gets competitive, or until a situation pops up where there’s a chance to pick up points and he doesn’t take advantage of it.

Going beyond this season it would be a problem though. Given they are just a feeder team it makes no sense to keep a driver his age in a seat. To be honest it makes no sense to keep Yuki around much longer either. I’d think the only purpose for that team is to find either the next Max, or at least his teammate. Which is neither of them.

Ricciardo has been underwhelming but he's been within a tenth of Yuki in all qualifying sessions except Q2 in Bahrain

Honestly? Kind of. There is a reason why he was shit until Daniel got there and fixed the car setup. Yuki in his 4th season not being able to give accurate feedback about the car is why Daniel is there and why Yuki will not be a number one driver. I also can see Yuki getting binned before Daniel if they want to bring Lawson in next season. They need an experienced cool head for Lawson to learn from (especially if there are hopes he will end up in the Red Bull) and that is not Yuki. Although they expect upgrades to improve car performance, the car right now is a shit box so results aren't the be all and end all at the moment when points are unlikely unless someone from one of the top 5 teams goes down.

It is also important to remember that Yuki is only in the seat because Honda want him there. There will be one year left on the Honda sponsorship deal at the end of the season and I can see Red Bull just saying screw it and getting rid of him.

Well even though driver error for DR he still had managed to post 10th fastest in Q1. If it wasn't track limits his time would have been even faster...so it's not pace. Atleast today. But now hes butchered his chances for tomorrow and that's a shame. Will end up getting stuck behind someone and being a test bunny to help Yuki's chances. Which will cause more chat about how shit he is now.

The only reason DR was ahead in Bahrain was because the team ordered Tsunoda to let him past. Mind you, DR would argue that the main reason he was behind Tsunoda for most of the race was the team's tyre strategy.

Yuki is there for one reason, and one reason only - Honda are Red Bull's engine suppliers, and they want a Japanese driver in the car. Yuki wouldn't have a drive if it weren't for the Honda factor. That factor goes away in 2026, when Red Bull switch to Ford engines.

While the team is just a feeder team, the Red Bull management want the cars to be more competitive than they are, and having DR helping the setup is a significant factor in making that happen. Having said that, I agree that there's not a lot of point having a driver as old and slow as DR in a feeder team.

Even the deleted time in Q1 was still slower than Yuki's Q1 time.

So Danny Ric is from Perth, Oscar from Melbourne, what state is adopting Valteri? I’m guessing Queensland with that bogan look he’s developed.

SA since his missus is from there.

Dan may be great at helping to setup the car, but his lack of performance when driving the car is getting to be beyond a joke now. It's getting very hard to defend him, and justify him having a drive ahead of Lawson.
looked the goods till he broke his wrist

Great day out, but every result went against my wishes

Verstappen not only on pole, and by an unassailable 300th seconds
Tsunonda smashing Riccardio
Lando beating Oscar
Hamilton not making Q3

100% cultivating the classic SA bogan look but he aint going to be winning over any hearts as long as we have two Aussies out on track
I don’t know about that, if he starts going by the nickname VB and wearing an AFL jumper. I always liked VB especially when he’d beat Lewis yes Aussies first but VB is a good guy.

Looks like a two stopper is expected but what is the bet there are some that make the one stop work?

Sam thought he had a great stat re Red Bull, however he must have forgotten they won here last year.

Well it looked and sounded like he wasn't exactly sober so that isn't surprising.
