The idea is that hotel revenue etc which isn't counted is part of the overall revenue of the event because it's paid for by the State Government. Total net benefit is hard to see.

Surely just seeing the Melbourne blip on the spinny globe as it spins around at the start of every F1 telecast is worth all of the dollars spent on it

I don't really know how the ballot worked, but I just got an email saying I wasn't successful

I was successful in the ballot, but decided not to use it after I finally got through the queue to discover that prices had been jacked up an extra 25% with their "dynamic pricing model"... will login again tomorrow during general sale. FFS Ticketmaster!!
I get that it's a popular event, but these jacked up prices during presales is just stuffed. Preying on people who are desperate to go to events/concerts knowing that they'll be scared of missing out.

Brabham 4 day passes going for $1150. I paid $600 in 2019. By the time the new regs arrive, it'll be up over $1500 i'd imagine. Crazy money!!!
