Ok I'll do it, just for interest sake... so last 10 starting from Canadian GP - not including DNF's (in brackets)
Perez 8.75 (2)
Ric 12.3.(0)
Tsunoda. 13.9 (2)

My point wasn't really about the numbers. It was that using finish place averages is a meaningless stat in a competitive motor racing context where quali and other factors over a race weekend come in to play, damage from collisions, team strategy, different tyre strategies, different upgrades etc.

Especially if you then go and pick a non-random set of races to do that simplistic and non-relevant arithmetic calculation.

I mean why was 'the last 10 races' picked? Why not the full season stats including qualifying grid position and points gained over the full season? Pretty obvious it was done to get numbers to sell a narrative.

Anyhow, we all know why Danny was retired and why Perez and Tsunoda keep their second tier seats with RBR. And race outcomes is just a very small part of that story.

“Alpine is, therefore, in need of an engine supplier for the 2026 season. The team is believed to be in discussions with Mercedes to obtain power units as a customer.”
Give it another 18 months and my bet is they won't be called Alpine either

Ric losing his seat was probably the right move but how the **** does Perez keep his???? Man he must be bringing in what 50mil+ in cash?

Ric still had moments of brilliance but was to inconsistent so i can see why they moved him on.

His sponsors must be amazing.

Yes. and worth a fortune to Red Bull.

Checo's personal sponsorship deals with Disney, Telcel, Mobil, Claro, Nescafé and KitKat are reported to bring about US$5m p.a. to RBR.

But his biggest sponsor by far is the Mexican Billionaire Carlos Slim Helú who the Bloomberg Billionaires Index ranked as the 11th-richest person in the world at the end of 2023 , with a net worth of $105 billion or about 7% of Mexico's GDP, making him the richest person in Latin America - mainly through his telecoms assets. (Slim has dropped down to 20th on the billionaires' list over the course of 2024 with his net worth now a paltry $90 billion - tough times for some :'()

Even with the strong financial backing of the Mateschitz at their disposal, that sponsorship money comes in pretty handy when it comes to covering the cost of Verstappen's $55m annual salary and the rest of the F1 budget.

Pretty hard for someone like Danny Ric to compete with that.

agree! but it’s also very costly if the team doesn't perform. particularly if it can be attributed to a weak link.

True. It'll probably be Mastercard Ladbrokes Google Racing by Alpine.

AusGP tickets are getting pretty absurd.

As someone who has been watching F1 since the Darryl Eastlake/Alan Jones days, it shatters me now that I never went to the F1 in Melbourne when it was affordable. The Drive to Survive-fuelled popularity has made this such a gross money spinner for F1, and I doubt the state of Victoria even sees much benefit outside of tourism - F1s deals typically result in them taking all the profits but sharing the risk.

Gee whiz it is. The deck is stacked.

I don't really know how the ballot worked, but I just got an email saying I wasn't successful

I was successful somehow. Says I can do up to 6 tickets but also says tickets aren't guaranteed. I won't need 6 so if code works for someone else happy to share. Not sure if order needs to match my name.
