Dew was very much a “my way or the highway” type senior coach.

His (lack of) interpersonal skills was the big criticism of him at GC.

Nor did he get the best out of his players.

I might be in the minority here about not being too enthusiastic about Dew joining us.

How do we know whether mark stones interpersonal skills were any better than dews?

Dew will come in under fages with a wealth of experience and will be able to learn from someone who has taken a team from a basket case to a grand final and will likely develop those man management skills further. This is a good get. Fages is getting close to retirement and still has the hawthorn thing over his head. Need someone like dew.

I will continue to go by the mantra of being unable to judge whether an assistant coach was good/bad/indifferent so I will greet the news of any replacements thusly:

We also don’t know where this hawthorn thing goes next year. If it requires fages to take time away from the club, I wouldn’t mind having the Dew to break glass in case of emergency

So stone and Adcock out
Dew and Scott Selwood in according to Sam Edmunds on Trade Radio

Remember the Stewie Dew 'harden the **** up' in-game motivation speech.

Love love love

Get the killer pythons ready to go (pretty sure there was a moment when someone threw one at him in the coaches box and he ate it).

Really rate dew.

Sellwood, wasn't he a failed list manager at Collingwood. Could not deal with the stress and pressure of the job and took a PT development coach role instead.

Linked in profile lists him as an assistant midfield coach. Is that an assistant to Bolton in a P T capacity.
So he will see this move as a promotion.

Collingwood. Where they have assistants to their assistants.

You're thinking of Troy Selwood.

Bolton is their director of coaching, with Skipworth and Selwood looking after their midfield.

After finishing at Geelong, sounds like he was hired straight away as a development coach. Also was midfield coach when Harvey took over after Buckley finished up.

Dew is a fantastic get as an assistant.

The report from Edmund said we'd look to replace Adcock and Stone with one senior assistant. So both Selwood and Dew would be unlikely.

But I’ve already ordered my Dewood 2023 tshirt

I thought his home state was SA - coach of Glenelg (premiers) prior to his arrival here with us?

I thought he was originally from Victoria but has spent a lot of his time in WA. Has coached all over the place though - Freo, Sydney, West Coast & Glenelg (and possibly a few others I've missed).

Wouldn't think Selwood would be senior anything

On the contrary I have heard fantastic reports on Dewey's relationships with the players and assitants. Feedback coming from 2 current players, they loved his style and the way he went about planning strategies from game to game. He is missed big time.
Just goes to show that you dont take as gospel what is written or spoken...especially by the media.

Leppa was hard done by in my opinion. If he had 1/2 the resources that our current coach currently has, I'm confident you would have seen significantly improved results. Vossy much the same.
Are you saying we should have invested more in the water gun department under Leppa’s reign ;)

Not sure a coach who manhandled a player was hard done by.

Bloke was just not a good senior coach.
