Not a fan of an interim coach. I think, unfortunately, this is going to take quite a while and provides instability. Fagan was heading into the last year of coaching and there were some calls thinking whether he should finish up this year or next year. Think its time we looked for a new coach, unfortunately I havent seen any experienced ones that would look good, means we will probably go with an assistant. Please, no internal promotion! Would love a board with Noble on, to identify a new coach.

(unless of course there have been a bunch and they were reported/removed without me seeing them)
Nope, all clear on this front.

Why would Mark Stone be an option as Head Coach? Our Strategy hasn't been much good FFS. If the worst happens and we're looking for a new coach we absolutely must bring anew voice in.

Unless Fagan agrees to leave his post if we sought a replacement coach before the investigation is finalised we'd potentially be liable for an unfair dismissal claim. Not sure we have an option for a permanent replacement - maybe we can bring in an additional person who can be interim coach and then be part of the coaching panel if Fagan is cleared.

Yes absolutely. It has to be all above board.

I like Mark Stone (interim) with Noble temporarily doing 2IC, relationship etc.

Noble can be a steady hand guiding Mark, he knows the joint and most of the players. Based on past history, I have a feeling Fagan would be happy with this.

Yep I’ll put my hand up and say I wasn’t in the wanting him gone “at all costs” camp but I was of the opinion that perhaps he’d run his race with this team and we needed a fresh set of eyes to take over to take us to the next step.

We will be forever grateful for what he and others have done for our club. * the way we were tracking before he came on board, who knows whether we’d still even have a club in its current form if he didn’t come here.

If this is the end of his tenure it certainly wasn’t how any of us would’ve wanted him to go out though.

Was he the one who forcefully suggested berry be moved into the mid field during the final?

I reckon whoever that was did change the result of the game.

Fagan stepping down could hurt us a lot more than we think. Coaches don't get as much time off as the players before preseason and before long they'd be back at the club doing the season review, gathering clips, having meetings with assistants, talking to and interviewing other potential new assistants. Working through deficiencies, making plans for improvement to gameplan and what they'll focus on at preseason to try and improve these. There are so many facets that could be affected. I wouldn't be surprised if Fagan still worked during the investigation in a non-official manner through phone and video calls with the other coaches but who knows what it'll do to our planning for next season.

Didn't say he should be head coach - just that I liked him.

In a highly tense, epically big moment he went head to head with the head ( 😂) coach. That's takes a lot of ... Determination and confidence.

I don't vote in the weekly poll cause I can't pick between players. I'm pathetic - tomorrow I'll change who I'm backing to which ever team is losing at that point during the game. Don't want either to win.

I might have an opinion on a short list of coaches, probably because of some underdog or weird fact rather an evaluation of the person's capability. I'm a tragic Mitch and Matho support after all.

I'd back any female coach who wanted to put her hand up for the job. Bigfooty would need a whole lot more cloud/server space. It'd be popcorn worthy.

Are there any female assistant coaches? I expect in the next few years we will see one. Will be interesting to see the reactions.

It might have been said before, but why doesn’t Craig Starcevich take over the Men’s team as soon as the current AFLW season has finished (mid-November) for 2023 and maybe beyond (dependent if he wants the job or not given his other commitments), and then allow Emma Zielke (former AFLW club captain & current female apprentice coach at the club) to take the reigns of the women’s side in the future, as she most likely knows 99% of players well from her playing days.

Would be a hell of a lot easier to do that transition then having to find a new head coach somewhere else around the country in short notice, especially if is the end of the road for Fages coaching tenure at the club

While the inquiry is going on - what about Leigh Matthews holding the fort as the caretaker coach? Maybe he could step down from the board. Could be a settling influence in the interim?

Like a junkie dropping the kids off at grandpa's "just for a few days"?

Question I have here.

While Fagan is stood down, does he still get paid, and does his salary still count under the salary cap?

Unless Fagan voluntarily retires "for the good of the club", I do not see how we as a club can move forward with our coaching set up, until everything is resolved. And if things get legal, after the report is handed down, that's going to be years, not months.

I do not see how we could hire an interim head coach. More to the point, I don't see how one of the better options out there would choose us, if they are only going to be an interim head coach on a 12 month contract. Especially if we don't have the ability to pay them the going rate, due to our soft cap restrictions.

All valid - I would say the AFL Commission has a lot of work to do over the next few months and the answers to each of your questions can only come from them.

We obviously have to appoint an interim out of our current coaching staff and unless something changes dramatically I would think they'll likely have the job through 2023.

As for North who on earth knows what will happen there.

Terrible timing- wonder if any of the current players are now re-considering there futures at the club given the uncertainty our club now finds itself in. Same for players that were considering joining. Nunez said Gunstan is a no go - wonder if its related to this mess re Fagan not being there compared to the BAU at Hawthorn.
