Reasonably big deal that he turned down probably the two richest clubs in the comp.
If you weigh up whatever extra he would have gotten vs the intense pressure and scrutiny plus uprooting your family, at his age maybe it was an easy decision. If the Lions can stay near the top of the ladder it's only going to keep enhancing his reputation.

As a Brisbane based Crows supporter (and Gabba member) I have a soft spot for the Lions and was very pleased that you were able to win the flag this year :thumbsu:.

May I ask what the board verdict is on losing Murray Davis to the Crows? Is he considered a good operator and a loss for the club? Is there any sense that perhaps - with Danny Daly rebuffing outside interest to stay with the Lions - that perhaps your lot have 'warehoused' Davis for 2-3 years so that he can get more/different experience and that he'll be repatriated once Daly steps down (I understand he's not that young)? Or is that too much of a conspiracy theory...

DD will be our next coach. Has knocked backed big paying jobs 3 times now to stay. Makes sense, succession plan underway - DD to take the reins in 2027. How has this not been discussed before… or has it?

Him n Dewey can duke it out.

According to this Fox article published yesterday, Fages has been given a one year extension until the end of 2026. Not sure when this happened:

18. Chris Fagan (Brisbane)

There is no senior coach under less pressure heading into next year than Fagan, who led the Brisbane Lions to their first premiership in 20 years. While the 63-year-old had entered this season under considerable pressure given the Lions were coming off a grand final loss in 2023, storming to flag glory from fifth on the ladder this year has alleviated any and all heat on the oldest coach in the competition. Fagan was awarded with a one-year contract extension to tie him to Brisbane until the end of the 2026 season. There is no reason why Fagan and the Lions can’t strive for more premiership success in the coming years, having led the competition in points-from-turnover differential in 2024.
