Gone with a few roughies this year (Duffield, Grimes, Varcoe, Clarke, Cox etc.)
Also tried to load up on GC players for the bench... Would like to use a few of the pricier GC players on field, but not with them having the round 1 bye.

Back:
Goddard, Deledio, Duffield, Grimes, Drummond, Otten, B. Jacobs
Bench: (Iles, Coad, Toy)

Mid: Swan, Hodge, Gibbs, Varcoe, Houli, Clarke
Bench: (Swallow, Weller, Wallis)

Ruck: Cox, Tippett
Bench: (Fraser, Z. Smith)

Forward: Riewoldt, Didak, Goodes, Petterd, Fevola, Knights, Petrie
Bench: (I. Smith, Dixon, Matera)

Remaining Salary: $3,100

That's going to be a nightmare in Round 16 when Adelaide, Fremantle and Melbourne all have byes.

EDIT: I guess the idea would be to upgrade Otten by then.
Yep, either that or downgrade otten and use the money to upgrade grimes/duffield... We'll just see how it pans out...:)

Just slapped a team together with no real thought to it and came up with

Backs. Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Gilbert, Ottens, Cameron Richardson
Sub. Coad, Toy, Hibberd and Mzungu

Mids. Swan, Judd, Gibbs, Lucas, Krakouer
Sub. Hartlett, Blease, Atley, Curnow

Ruck. Sandilands, Warnock
Sub. Jacobs, Stanley

Forwards. N. Riewoldt, O'Keefe, Steven Johnson, Higgins, Fevola, Knights
Sub. Yarran, Isaac Smith, Darling, Tapscott

Team spread.

St. Kilda.
Goddard, Gilbert, N. Riewoldt, Stanley
Hawks. Hodge, Smith
Geelong. Enright, Johnson
Crows. Ottens, Jacobs, Knights
Roos. Richardson, Atley,
Suns. Coad, Toy, Ablett
Bombers. Hibberb.
Freo. Mzungu, Sandilands,
Pies. Swan, Krakouer
Blues. Judd, Gibbs, Lucas, Curnow, Warnock, Yarran
Demons. Blease, Tapscott.
Swans. R'OK
Dogs. Higgins
Lions. Fevola
Eagles. Darling

A reasoble spread. A fair few of my bench players come from Carlton, but their first bye isn't until rd 8.

But thier second bye is during the Prelim final week. If the yearly carnage happens again you are going to open a bakery.

regards,

REB

A bit heavy on GC and Hawks players but i'm happy with that, a part from from Fev don't know if i'd really pick him up but for 250k can't turn it down.

Now i can sit here and rosterbate for a while.;)

This is a good structure and any beginners would do well to copy it. I count at least 12 premium players (bolded) with a few potential keepers like Knights and Tippett thrown in. Plus, you've got some sweet DP links which should come in handy.

I had Kennedy last year and he was a disaster most of the time:mad:. Can't see it being much different this year from a SC perspective.

Just a first up one from me, no real research as of yet...
Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Malceski, Grimes, Otten, Toy (Jacobs, Coad, Hibberd)
Mids: Selwood, Pendlebury, Shuey, Swallow, Gaff, Polec (Conca, Wallis, Lock)
Rucks: Sandilands, Mumford (Petrie, Z. Smith)
Forwards: Riewoldt, Franklin, Pavlich, Sylvia, Tippett, Petterd, Matera (Callinan, I. Smith, Mzungu)

It's obviously very, very rough. Haven't experimented with byes/MPP's, and am not entirely up to date with rookies, but that will come with the NAB/Prospectus :thumbsu:. The midfield is an obvious strategy I'm following, as I see a lot of value there. Initial thoughts appreciated...

Nice team for this time of the year. I'm personally going to go for one more elite mid over a Shuey type or rookie.

Lots to like about your backline and fwd line. Maybe the absence of a Judd/Ablett/Swan is a slight issue. I will also be very close to having Selwood/Pendles but still think there is a way to fit in one of those top 3 in addition. Whichever of Ablett/Judd/Swan fires, you will be missing an average of 30 ppg using Schuey in their place or a rookie if not more due to captaincy options. Having said that, Reiwoldt, Hodge and Goddard say hi. I just prefer the midfielders due to less point swings.

Barring injuries/complete form pre-season dip, I have Gibbs/Goddard as my two locks for the backline. Sandilands my one lock for ruck. Reiwoldt and Franklin my two locks for fwds. I also have one midfield lock as well but keeping it close. Obv Swallow is almost a certainty. Plenty of GC players for postion 7 on the bck/fwd line and bench all over.

Rough team I just put together, 72k left :

Backs: Goddard Gibbs Deledio Broughton Otten Drum Duigan Richardson Coad Toy

Mids: Swan Hayes Bartel Boyd D Swallow Krakoeur Heppell Blease Mzungu

Fwds: Chapman Riewoldt Goodes Sylvia Knights Petrie Dixon Matera Tapscott Callinan

Rucks: Sandi Cox Smith Daw

Reasonably happy with the backs...guns seem fairly obvious (suppose I could swao Broughton for Fisher or Gilbert but other than that it picks itself), Coad and Toy will be great earners as will Duigan. I would have liked to fit Iles in but 3 GC is probably too much. Will punt on Drum if he stays fit through the pre season otherwise may cough up the extra for Menzel with him likely to be playing forward.

Mids are good. Heppell's the only one I don't really want in there but he's needed for the MPP. Could conceivably fling one of the premiums for Harris or Foley but I just reckon they're too good to tinker with.

Forwards are harder to pick...would've picked Didak but injury scares me off until I see otherwise (same with ROK). Knights and Petrie should be good value and frankly I don't know which GC rookie forwards will score well (or whether they'll get spanked and none will score well), went with Dixon and Matera. Don't have as much confidence in my forwards as the other lines.

$56 100 left over

Brendon Goddard, Bryce Gibbs, Brett Deledio, Shannon Hurn, Andrew Walker, Andy Otten, Nicholas Duigan
Cameron Richardson, Peter Faulks, Sam Iles

Chris Judd, Leigh Montagna, Jobe Watson, Alan Didak, Ryan Griffen, David Swallow
Shaun Atley, Joel Wilkinson, Andrew Krakouer

Aaron Sandilands, Darren Jolly
Tom Derickx, Zac Smith

Lance Franklin, Ryan O'Keefe, Travis Varcoe, Drew Petrie, Isaac Smith, Brandon Matera, Tendai Mzungu
Ian Callinan, Robbie Gray, Jack Darling

Is there a reason Atley isn't $87 500, he is more expensive then Jed Lamb and others who were picked ahead of Atley?

Happy with my team for a 1st go, would like to have better forwards but I made the team while I was bored and tired.

Nice team. I wouldn't expect Blease to get too many games early. Keep an eye out if he plays NAB cup.

Atley went at #17, Lamb at #21. First round loading down to #25 IIRC

Thoughs on this team???

no need to waste money on watson, heppell, jacobs, conca, atley and smith HUGE waste of money not saying they will be shit not worth the extra money is all

and start callinan this years pods maybe in the midfield so you can use dpp

also get rid of grimes, bartel, kruezer, sylvia and vespremi

Thoughs on this team???

Looks pretty good to me. Probably no value left in Malceski, but I guess there's no reason why he can't play like he did last year - which makes him a fair premium. I agree with Borrat that some of those first round draft picks might not be worth the money. There are probably a few 87k guys who are more afl-ready than Conca and Atley. Kreuzer returning from the knee... dunno if there's much value in him. I'd go for another ruck. Other than those few issues, I like it.

Goddard/Gibbs/Deledio will be 2011's Goddard/Hodge combination in the backline. Anyone who knows anything about Supercoach will have all 3. Makes their point scoring redundant, as your opposition will almost certainly have them as well (unless you've got Goddard as Captain).

Indeed pumpter.

Here is my first team, lot's of mid-pricers which worries me, but I seem improvement and/or value in a ton of players this year.

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, B. Deledio, J. Grimes, A. Otten, S. Tape, M. Watson (T. Davis, D. Talia, J. Toy)
MID: P. Chapman, S. Pendlebury, K. Jack, R. O'Keefe, D. Swallow, D. Heppell (A. Krakouer, M. Wallis, T. Mzungu)
RUC: A. Sandilands, D. Jolly (M. Daw, J. Charman)
FWD: N. Riewoldt, C. Rioli, L. Franklin, C. Sylvia, R. Petterd, D. Petrie, I. Smith (N. Ablett, J. Darling, L. Tapscott)
CASH LEFT: $202,500

Midfield is weak and a bit risky with Jack and ROK. I should probably upgrade Jack to a Judd/Selwood or even GAJ, but I think Jack will be the Swans best mid this year. Also, I have a lot of Dees, but I've been able to justify them all to myself, so hopefully I can justify them to others...
