Brisbane mid-fielder Michael Rischitelli appears to be the only potential stumbling block in the trade to get Carlton spearhead Brendan Fevola to the Lions.

Brisbane has offered up Rischitelli and Daniel Bradshaw in return for Fevola, but the two Lions players must agree on the move before the deal can be done.

Rischitelli's manager Ricky Olarenshaw has confirmed to SEN that his client is reluctant to return to Melbourne, and will need some convincing if the trade is to be successful.

Have seen conflicting reports about Rischitelli being prepared to go to Melbourne. This must mean Bradshaw is up for it. I haven't seen much mention of Fev doing it although he is managed by Alastair Lynch at Velocity sand apparently Lynchy brokered this. Articles also say that Joel McDonald and Rhan Hooper will be thrown up if Rischitelli or Bradshaw say no.

Still plenty of water to flow under this bridge with 3 confirmations required. This is an 'in principle' deal like the McLean one. I wonder if anybody begrudges Carlton trying to get something extra out of it or at least asking the question.

Love the Lions fans sympathetically saying Bradshaw & Ricsha are great players with lots of good years left. Sweet.

I think the deal isn't so bad if the Lions are paying Fevs salary.

Wouldn't Macdonald be a better option than Rischa especially if the latter is reluctant to do this.

It is likely that Carlton has agreed to this trade for 3 reasons

1) They desperately want Fevola out of the club
2) Brisbane has offered to pay all of Fevola's salary. This gives Carlton more flexibility in the next 2 years
3) Recruiting Bradshaw gives Carlton two years to rebuild their forward line and remain competitive.

That's the one right there. An earlier suggestion that we have done this to push for a flag with Bradshaw is incorrect. We are just buying time to build that forward line. It could happen quickly if the rucks come on as fast as they have been and we throw one into a Tippett role, or we have a tall midfielder with pace and x factor permanently stationed up there (Walker). If Austin can hold down a key defender role with Jamison, Thornton and Bower to help out back there, another x factor player in Jarrad Waite, becomes our Brett Burton type.

Having Bradshaw, Waite, Walker and resting ruckman in Kreuzer or Hampson being complimented by Yarran and Betts is not all gloom and doom. There is some pace and versatility in there and all have to be watched.

Personally I don't see why you can't 'buy time' without him.What would be so wrong with giving Bower of Jamison a go in the forward line, for example?

Fevs problems are well documented but he still one of the most valuable on-field players in the league. I can't remember a franchise player going so cheaply in years.

Carlton major winner's in this? Are you stupid? If not, you must clearly have no interest in AFL whatsoever. This deal is amazing for Brisbane.

I will admit that Rischitelli is quite a decent player and at 23, he is set to improve over the next few years. However, Bradshaw is 30 years old and has been plagued with serious injury throughout his career. He will be lucky to have 2 years of footy left in him and Carlton can't win the premiership in the next two years. Not with the form of Geelong which should continue for 2 to possibly 3 years more and St. Kilda which should continue for 3 to possibly 4 years to come. Lets not forget the Western Bulldogs who are up and about in the same category. Fev is 28 and a proven matchwinner. He is without a doubt the most important player Carlton have on their list. He is two years younger than Bradshaw and has proven that he is far more versatile and has the potenial to play on for at least five more years, given his fairly clean run with injury. Picking up a player of Fevola's calibre, will without a doubt put Brisbane in good stead to push for another flag with Brown at 27 years of age also. What a forward line!

Surely this is a ploy from Carlton to get other parties interested in thinking they may miss out on landing Fev, effectively pushing his price higher than a Bradshaw/Rischitelli trade..

If he can go to Brisbane, he can go to Sydney.. and then there's still Collingwood..

Sydney have pick 6 and 14 up there sleeve, (doubt they'd give up 6)

and Collingwood if the rumours are true, shopping around Nathan Brown who Carlton would be interested in..

Surely Pick 6 or 14 and a decent young player from Sydney or pick 30 and nathan brown is more attractive than picking up a 31 year old who may only have a year left, 2 at best and a B grade midfielder in Rischitelli..??

Think Carlton are crazy to take this deal.. Rischitelli and Macdonald would be a much better trade..

Geelong has proven you don't need a coleman medalist or even a forward who kicks more than 50 goals to win a flag..

Carlton already have a stellar midfield, (Judd, Murphy, Gibbs ) if they strengthen their backline they would be closer to success sooner than finding a quick fix replacement..

Carlton are desperate to get rid of Fev. The corporate sponsors, players and committee have had enough.

If this deal wasn't put on the table, they are prepared to give Fev to Sydney for pick 24. Sydney will pay off of his salary and they are free of him. That is Carlton's no.1 priority.

So for us to score Bradshaw and Ritch out of the deal is fantastic for Carlton. Brisbane is going to give him a 4 year deal on 500k a year. We don't have to pay out his salary. Bradshaw is loved by all Brisbane players and ex players. On of the most unselfish players in the game and will bring the best out of the players around him, unlike Fev.

Give Fev a break, he was the Blues best player for many years and didn't do much wrong playing his style of game.. Mucked up a couple of times outside footy but nothing to hang the guy for.. It's not like he hurt anybody.. Blame the media on his and Carlton's situation..Not Fev !

Regardless, in the footy ability and marketing potential fronts, Brisbane is so far ahead on this deal it's not funny.
