Once he is traded his money doesn't have anything to do with Carltons cap. Highly doubt we will go for him, just hope it doesn't jeopardise our Hall chances. Hopefully Sydney don't have a go for Fev

your boys need to get Brian Lake signed up ASAP. if carlton offload fev and free up 500k or more in the cap, who do you think they might make an offer to?

In part it can.

Say Fev is on $700K per year.

A part of the trade could be another club taking him, but only being prepared to pay him $500K per year. Carlton would have to stump up the balance, much as we did when we traded Jade Rawlings to North Melbourne.

Fev @ Dogs = Premiership

Don't do a West Coast Eagles and have no key forward, they should have won 3 flags, they got just 1

Fev is the best player at Carlton - better than Judd

If we could somehow get him, we should definitely do it. We would win the flag IMO...

But..... there is no room in the salary cap though, so can't see how it could be done. Plus, what would we trade??

Everitt + pick 15 + what else?!?

Barry Hall would be very, very good for us in the forward line regardless of Fev, we should just stick to getting him in, and keeping our other out-of-contract players.

Maybe if Carlton are still chasing Everitt he will be involved in the trade somehow - i.e. Fev to Sydney - with part of the deal being Everitt to Carlton and Vezpremi to WB, or something like that...

And such a fine person , just the sort of influence we (DON'T) need at our club. No one likes him or respects him. No use having a full forward that no one will kick to, who cracks the sads if he's not getting the ball, and will offside most of the supporters.

If West Coast could win one flag without a key forward, that'll do me. ;)
But we will have Barry. :)

we can affored both hall and fev, just need to trade everitt and grant and force eagleton into retirement, that should free up enough space with welsh and skipper already gone. also throw in our first rounder. we don't need it.

Yeah, I am sure Carlton would carry a big chunk of his burden if they wanted to move him on, just like you guys did with Rawlings when you off-loaded him to us.

Doggies would have to part with something of value but add in a guy who could kick 90+ goals for your side with the delivery your midfield is capable of and it would be incompetent for your club not to seriously consider it.

TCD, I know it's been posted that the Bulldogs have categorically denied any interest but now this has been put forward, do you think they'll reconsider?

Fev @ Dogs = Premiership

A lot of people are saying this but I am not so sure.

Would he fit into a forward line where he is one forward of six? Would he fit in well where he is not the sole target going forward, and much of his time will be spent blocking, creating space for other forwards, tackling, pressuring, zoning etc etc.

In the 80's and 90's he would have been a sensational forward and a premiership forward. Not so sure now. There is less room for one dimensional players. IMO, it is better to have two forwards who kick 60 rather than one forward who kicks 90.

Just my two centos.

I know, but I think the poster was intimating that what the other club pays him would still be included in Carltons cap. It could be like a Rawlings situation at North where we were paying a lot of his money but I doubt it, I think Carlton would keep him ahead of having to pay him to play at another club.

I think we all can acknowledge he is better than Hall and has many years left in him. The question is the $$$ and that he is an idiot. I was 100% against trading Lake, but if you could do a straight swap for Fev, it would be the only situation i would entertain a trade for Lake. Thoughts?

I can see him going to Essendon. Dont think we would go for him. As someone said, he would want the ball coming in to him every time. That wouldnt happen in our forward line. And when it doesnt, he could crack the sads and play shit

Won't be going to Essendon. Plenty of young talls to play forward and still 2-3 years from a tilt at top 4.

If we can get Bazza at relatively no price, hes the way to go. Keep him for 2 years, an intimidating on the field, can help develop the younger forwards, and isnt asking for a huge pay check.

Fev will ask for a huge wad of cash, wont be intimidating, and will be the same old fev with same old problems.

The only problem with barry is that he still has that question mark over his anger management.
