Fevola: The Real Story

It was an AFL function not a Carlton function. They wont punish Carlton. I wouldn't be surprised if they were somehow involved in the trade themselves.

AFL player contracts are with their club and the AFL, they are an employee of both. I have confirmed that, it is designed to allow the draft etc to work and to proect the AFL from a rival league. Under sexual harrassment law functions are deemed to be work function if the % of attendees from one organisation is above a certain thereshold.

I am not having a go at Carlton or Brisbane per say, Fev is the idiot, this is his doing but both of these clubs are caught up in his stupidity now. Lots of potential legal ramifications and it will all fall on Fev as the AFL will seek to make itself look good.

No they haven't. In thousands upon thousands of years of human history, it's only been the last couple of decades in which those things have been considered 'wrong' -- and even then, only in some parts of the world. Right now your tax dollars are supporting a war in which male politicians who subscribe to misogynistic religions are being protected by our troops.

That being said, if the allegations against Fev are proven true, he is in some trouble, and rightfully so, too.

What annoys me about this charade is how the mass media have managed to keep the whole thing pretty hush-hush until now. Either they only found out about it today (unlikely), or they conspired to keep it on the low until after trade week (for whatever reason). Some serious questions need to be asked...

Fevola Trade = Win for Carlton.

Will the Carlton Supporters now stop saying "Its a disgrace that we are trading Fevola"....."Ratten should be sacked for getting rid of Fevola"......

I just wish Carlton supporters would stop saying, "I still can't see where he did anything wrong". Perhaps they'll stop now he's not their problem any more.

Maybe she didn't want it to come out and hurt the club just as they were trying to off load Fev. I don't think any club would have wanted him if this came out a week or so ago.

But is protecting Carlton and short changing Brisbane is ok? They will be wearing the cost of any sanction, should it happen. Unless of course the Lions were made aware of it this morning, hence the apparent downgrade of the trade.

But it's all speculation until she makes a formal complaint, so watch this space.

Was Fev ever pulling coin from the Herald-Sun? I recall those two clowns on Superfooty during their Brownlow clip referring to Fev as a colleague, and after he harassed them they jokingly asked whether they could take the matter to HR. Anyone know?

What sort of employer doesn't immediately investigate claims of sexual assult against an employee at an official function representing their organisation?

When you consider that same organisation has recently been at the centre of a nationally reported story involving similiar incidents you really have to question the judgement and ethics of those running that organistaion.

Based on what i've heard about who this alleged woman is, she was protecting Carlton. Doesn't matter if the other team involved in the trade was the Saints, Adelaide, Magpies or the Lions. A week early, no club would wanted Fev and he'd most likely be forced out of the game.

Hence why this has come out just now. I think there's a lot more than the public know and it could be HUGE news. All comes down to if she wants to press charges or not.

Was there a complaint made?

Was there a complaint made?

Did you hear the comments your president just made?

The club were aware of the allegations and their inactivity speaks volumes.

When you consider the allegations from just a few months ago I cannot believe they put self interest ahead of principle . . . AGAIN!

Surely Brisbane were aware of this before they signed him? If not i'd be taking the blue baggers straight to the high court.
We have serious allegations of sexual assault where the victim is a journalist, and the newspaper that employs her doesn't run the story until the day after Fevola has been offloaded to a new club, two weeks after the event. What is going on here? The timing stinks whichever way you look at it. First, the assault allegations should be reported to the police. In the meantime, Brisbane should be allowed to cancel the deal, and the whole transfer shenanigans should be looked at by the ACCC.

Typical Carlton dealing, they sat on their hands when told about this (Kernahan practically said as much), and have now passed him on to our hands.

I'd hope the details were not kept from us at the trade table, otherwise this could end up very nasty, very quickly.

Speaks volumes of the morals of the footballing media in Melbourne too, this alone needs investigating.

your spot on.

I cant understand why she , her employer and the AFL didnt bring this out sooner .
Why now ?
Why so late ?
Whats their motive ?
The police cant do anything unless there is a complaint.
But to bring it out now ? Something unusual is occuring re bringing this issue out now and it isnt right , it should have been done ASAP NOT after he is traded.
All of them have to explain their motive in bringing this out now and why not earlier. This delay reduces their credibility.
Having people in my family that were sexually assaulted ( sis and niece and a friend of mines wife ) i know the trauma people are in , so i know what i am talking about .

You're aware that Neil Mitchell, not Carlton or the AFL, aired these allegations this morning yes?

So if I've got this straight, the only acceptable option would have been to sack him and get absolutely nothing in return.
I'll ignore the obvious self-interest for a moment . . . no, I'm not suggesting anyone should be sacked on a allegation.

Any responsible organistaion - let alone one that has been accussed of trying to bury allegations of sexual assult - would suspend an employee pending an investigation.

Your president admitted they knew about it and didn't act. i.e. they acted purely out of self-interest.

While I'm sure that would have you in raptures, it is not our business to look after other clubs

No, it's your business to look after YOUR business.

Transparency is clearly a word not in the Carlton vocabulary. I can think of a few others too.

I'm actually staggered that Carlton didn't see it in THEIR best interests to investigate this after the JE allegations.

Haha, yeah I'm sure they've got nothing else on at the moment.

It may just be me, but I think this would probably be seen as something with huge priority (not my personal view) due to public pressure and the demand for answers. IF Brisbane were not aware of the "alleged accusations" and Carlton in fact withheld vital information in order to trade Fevola, and those "allegations" result in criminal charges or devaluing the Brisbane name, not to mention, Carlton jeopardizing the entire draft, then this would certainly end up in the high court.

It has a very acute whiff about it, no doubt.

Quotes from Carlton and Anderson that they were well aware of the situation and yet nothing appears to have aired until now.
Can't believe Brisbane weren't aware of it, suspect they may well have got an "incentive" to take Fev on.

Be interesting to hear what Fev and Voss have got to say at their presser.

Carlton has known about these alleged incidents, so has the afl and her employer and her way BEFORE TODAY.
the deal was sown up this morning and irrespective , why the delay ? why wasnt he suspended ? why didnt the afl step in ? why didnt her employer do more to have him charged and or suspended ?

IT is clear that Carlton DID investigate it!

Fevola had spoken to Dimetriou twice in the first week.

The AFL has admitted it was aware and supplied counselling as did the HUN.

Kernahan announced they would be meeting Fevola on Monday (a week after Brownlow ... "to lock doors and thrash it out"!

Judd is involved in later CFC discussions!

AFL are trying to grow develop the game and don't want a scandal.

Carlton announce up for trade. BUT will make NO COMMENT till after trade week. Fevola (via manager) says same!

Journalist doesn't want to press charges because she thinks it may prejudice future work. But would be best if Fevola was NOT in VICTORIA

Alistair Lynch is Fevolas manager...of course... Brisbane were made aware!

Fevola and wife immediately book secluded palace in QLD.

POLICE investigate Crowns Liquor Licence and view tapes. NO WAY that toilets do not have cameras in a casino!!!

Go on troll on....!!!!:)

fair point, actually.

The AFL had also heard rumours, yet they won't investigate without a complaint. Why should Carlton be held to a higher standard?

No, it's your business to look after YOUR business.

Transparency is clearly a word not in the Carlton vocabulary. I can think of a few others too.

Transparency is not a word in any AFL clubs vocabulary and you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Seriously, you expect a club in Carlton's position to come out and suspend a player they are trying to trade pending an investigation, when even the AFL has knowledge and won't investigate?

Like I said - get a grip mate, you are losing it

That's an easy one, because no complaint has been made. In terms of what Fevola has or has not done there is nothing to act on. You can't force someone (the journalist in this case) to make a complaint, so at this stage it is nothing but rumor and innuendo.
If these rumors become fact, then the AFL can do something, until then it's hearsay.
