Re: Carlton what will you be asking from fevolas clubs of choice either st kilda or hawthorn?

I think your forgetting goddard and his family are mad carlton supporters and its no secret that he wanted to go to carlton origionally. you never know what might happen?

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

What ever team gets him wins the flag

Saints - FEV
Blues - Pick 14 and 15
Pies - Ball

Blues would want something more but i cant see what more they would get and they dont need another Mid maybe Kosi to be traded or Maguire

Carlton has him and they didn't win the flag. Are you suggesting every team is better than Carlton?

:D

Re: Fev - what 700k contract?

Just a thought - Another club might NOT have to pick up Fev's contract.

Consider the following scenario - 3 clubs are interested in having Fev on their list (ie sydney, collingwood, dogs)

Ignoring the contract for one moment, it would be up to each club to entice Fev that he should join them - an easy way to do that would be to offer $/extended contract.

In a bidding war, a smart club might come out and offer a 4 year deal @ 450k (lower base+clauses for off field)+bonuses (flag, coleman, F50 tackles etc)

450kX4yrs = 1.8mill (+bonuses), which is easily better than his current contract and provides 'security' into his 30s. Under such a scenario, the blues could offer to pay a significant proportion of fev's salary for yrs 1&2 (ie 400k in year 1, 200k in year 2 ) to help facilitate a good trade (ie fair compensation) and still be better off than having to pick up a 2X$700k/year contract

How realistic do you think it is that Fev will be happy with 1.8 million in 4 years considering he is already getting 1.5 million in 2 years? Can you see him agreeing to $150,000 a year? And how realistic do you think it is that a club would be willing to offer a 29 year (with issues) a 4 year contract?

Goddard has said he wants to be a one club player. :)
No chance.

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

The whole thing is a facade!

Fev will stay at the blues.

Carlton will demand Picks 1, 2 and 3 - plus Riewoldt and Ablett.

When no one meets their demands - they'll say - we tried to delist him!

* It appeases their sponsors who want to see action taken
* It gives fev a kick up the pants
* They keep the coleman medallist

If it smells like sh1t - pretty good chance it is sh1t

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

saints will offer no more than goose + pick 16 and 2nd rounder

Then it won't happen. Simple!

How stupid would St Kilda be not to try and secure him. Would have helped the Saints to a flag this year with a) the score he would have kicked and b) the pressure he would have taken off Riewoldt.

Because u want to get rid of him... u will get less then market value... Carlton can't expect adequate compensation to a player they want to throw away.

The thing is Carlton will only trade him if they get something reasonable. Suggestions like those above are a joke. If you think Carlton are between a rock and a hard place you're a sucker.

Overall not a bad move by the Blues. If we get something significant for him all good and well. If we don't then Fev sees his value on the open market, get's a kick up the bum and Carlton are seen to have done something.

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

Ross Lyon indicated on 3AW moments ago that theres no interest in Fev and the salary cap is already tight enough.

I retract my previous comment. Lyon wants all his guys doing everything they can to improve. While IMO St Kilda is the perfect option for Fev and they'd be nuts not going for him... with concerns over his behaviour it very much suits Lyon's ethos to pass him up.

They could release some of the salary cap pressure though by giving up Kosi. Fev's only on a 2 year contract and they could ask the Blues to cop $100K of his contract.

No chance.

so basically you would not be prepared to give up quality is what your getting at?

because their are only 2 types of players at st kilda, crap like steven milne raph clarke adam schneider, or an A grade player like riewoldt goddard montagna.

you would have to give up one or two of your A graders, as draft pick 16 holds no value this year as the pool is weak.

Re: Carlton what will you be asking from fevolas clubs of choice either st kilda or hawthorn?

Will be interesting to see what Carlton's threshold is.

They will be wanting a first-rounder and a player who walks into their best side. Minimum. But I wonder how many sides will actually give that up.

At what point will Carlton look at the tables and conclude that they're not up to scratch? At what point does Carlton decide they're better off keeping Fev than shipping him for a bargain?

Re: Fev - what 700k contract?

Fev will have to be paid huge and Sydney is perfect they have heaps left and we get ROK and hopefully pik 6:thumbsu::confused:

Re: Fevola to become a Swan - ROK and Everitt to become Blues!

stuff Everitt get ROK and maybz pik 6

could Butcher actually slip to pik 6

Re: Fev - what 700k contract?

^ Roos came out already this afternoon and said that the Swans aren't interested and don't wish to waste Carlton's time. They won't even be discussing Fevola with Carlton.

do you really think that sydney are that stupid !!!
1. take your drunken fullfoward & pay him $750,000 without carlton paying half.

2. give up their best & fairest player that plays midfield & foward + can kick 40+ goals a year.

3. also give up 1st round pick & pick 6 which is a very early pick which could & probably would get them a gun 18 yo such as butcher, martin, panos, talia.

you have to be real dude you cant have it all & get rid of a problem.

Re: Fev - what 700k contract?

Bad news for the Blues as next he was due to half his salary taken care of under the veterans list. For this reason I think there is no way we'll be footing too much of his salary (certainly not $350K) should the other party not want to pay it in full.

Who knows. Perhaps this a ploy to be seen to have done something with the door left open should we not get a deal we genuinely like. Should placate the media and give a wake up to Fev that he's not worth as much as he thinks.

Spot on!

The statement shows strength on Carlton's behalf but still gives them a massive get-out clause by playing hardball on trade value and/or what (if any) portion of his salary they would pay.

Their willingness to do a reasonable trade will be the only sign that they're really trying to offload him.

Re: Fev - what 700k contract?

Yep!! Someones got their hand on it!!.......So now we know they're cuming..... Is this Carlton looking after the football economy?.....this will become The Fev stimulus package......Carlton paying the difference on his contract :D
