DTM Intra-Club Match Photo's and Report

Drag Myself down there This Morning and watched the boys play.

One think I hated they played on the Wings but Here are the Players I noticed and What I thought:

Rounds: Played well and He was very quick and find space and kick both sides of body but Kicking needs worked

Keefe: He really impressed me with his Tap work and How Agile he is for a 204-205cm kid

Dawes: Probably close to the best Forward out there Kicking 2 or 3 Goals and Moved very well, Still needs to work on his Overhead Marking. Put on Cloke as a Defender for few minutes and was not very good and Does not like like a Key Defender

Wood: Was okay and Moved well but did not notice him very much

Reid: Was okay and does not look skinny as he but got pushed around by Anthony who also played very well.

Steele: Did not Notice him Much but when I did he was good. Good in Clearances and Great Tackler.

Bennell: Reminded me of a Young Leon, With his X-Factor and his Trickes.

Beams: Looked good and Composed

Pendles: Looked very good and Good long Kicks.

L Brown: Dissapointed in him did nothing and Dawes beat him quite well.

That's what I can remember for time Being Photo's coming soon

Re: Practise Match 30/1/09

I thought that too Opti. Seems like the succession plan is being put in place.

Almost like each of the assistance are getting a week each to show the powers that be what they've got. Interesting though that Neeld is getting first crack.
I dont think the order matters so much really, they will all coach against a different afl club.

I am looking forward to brad scott's debut as if its one of our assitants that are next i will put my money on him

Re: DTM Intra-Club Match Photo's and Report

Dave, with our forwards anthony kicked four and cloke kicked 4 and your telling dawes was the best?

And with dawes marking was he struggling overhead due to spoiling '9which means anvil was at least there) or just completely ****ing up?

Re: DTM Intra-Club Match Photo's and Report

Anthony must have had about 8 shots at goal. Dawes was OK , not the standout forward.
Thanks i thought that was the case.

Who played on anthony if you say presti i will be disappointed, although i did hear presti beat wood when wood went forward

Presti was moved off him after he had kicked 3 on him midway through the second. Presti then swapped with Reid , who was playing on Cloke. But there was more chopping and changing down back.

Re: DTM Intra-Club Match Photo's and Report

For anyone that watched just wondering about how a few of the boys went that havent really been mentioned yet:

Dale Thomas?

Leon Davis?

John McCarthy?

Harry O'Brien?

Thanks any info would be much appreciated.

That's about the best you could hope for I reckon. Website reports have indicated Cloke kicked 4 but all you want to see from Reid is that he was at least competitive at this stage.

Good to hear Heater was good along with the kids in Sidebottom, Blair and Wellingham.

Well you were facing the wrong way!

Pies intraclub player report.

Firsty it would have been easy to pull the pin on the game given the conditions so the players and staff both showed some ticker to get out there. Here's how I thought the players went.

1 Leon Davis. Played in short bursts and mostly onball showing both pace and skill.
3 J-Mac. Roamed mainly accross half forward and showed the class and poise displayed last year. Noticably bigger and should be a regular in our best 22.
5 Maxy. Played some onball and half back but didn't get it much, does all the hard things though.
6 Goldy. Shazza caved his ribs in at on stage so I hope he's all right, solid accross halfback
8 Harry. Had the job on both talls and smalls, every year its harder for forwards to get a kick on this bloke, good again.
9 Jack. With the Ruz proving unreliable it appears Jacks move to the back six is on permanant hold. Played well and he's going to be a nightmare match up on third tall defenders.
10 Pendles. A standout for mine, he wasn't moving well last year, he is now, the game seems to slow down when the balls in his hands.
11 Cheesy. Like Superman this man does his best work in a phone booth, yes he burns it a bit but if a hard balls up for grabs he'll go and win it. Another solid performance from the inside man.
12 Coxy. He runs, he creates and uses it well but unless he improves his one on ones and accountability he'll remain a tease. You love the ball in his hands though.
13. Daisy. Interestingly logged most of his time on the ball, my only knock is I'd like him to get it more.
14. Corrie. Had an absolute shocker, the kicking is fine but it's true his hands are terrible, a shocking handball put a goal on a plate for Cheesy. Close to the worst on the day.
15 Leigh Brown. Manned center half back and was probably beaten on the day. Another 'meh' performance, kind of what you'd expact.
16. Nafe Brown. Played on a variety of talls, rarely beaten but not much drive.
17. Dayne Beams. Extraction abilty as advertised, won the ball cleanly off the ruckmans hands, skills tidy to, an encouraging preformance.
18. Marty. He competely lost the tempo of the game last pre season, he hasn't this year. A half back who takes them on and uses it well.
19. Wood. Bigger and fitter and whilst he played well I thought Josh and Bryan were better.
20. Reid. Played key defence and some will say he can't manage it, I'm not one off them. Good closing speed and long arms but still lacks experience down back. He's certainly not skinny anymore.
21. Shazza. Played some wing and onball, highly skilled but didn't get it enough. Love the tackling though, they rarely escape.
22. Steele. Racked up the touches, set up goals, won clearances, in fact it looked like he was playing in another Tac final.
24. Tarks. Rarely sighted.
25. Josh. The best I've seen him move in four years. The best ruckman on the paddock who even gave his onballers some first use. Is at his best when he drifts forward to kick a couple of goals and he did that today.
26. Johnno. He's Baaaack!!!! I don't know who's been wearing 26 the last couple of years but the guy today was close to BOG. Playing half back he covered enormous territory and used it well, super fit and was running as hard at the end as the start.
28. Stanley. Spent most of his time at half forward and didn't have much impact.
29. Cookie. Runs hard and is a neat user and did that today but he's more a cog in the machine rather than a big wheel.
30. McCaffer. He's a massive unit and kicked a goal from couple of touches but didn't have much say on proceedings.
31. Dawes. Very, very impressive, he didn't hold everything but he got on his bike and covered some ground. He's definitely picked up some speed and endurance from last year.
32. Cloke. Dominant! The best forward on the ground.
34. Toovey. There's only one player on our list who can stream through the center all by himself and then miss a target by ten meters. He's compeditive and tries hard but the skills wll never be AFL standard.
35. Presti. A full game and he didn't look proppy at any stage, woohoo!!
Say what you like about the human blanket but he rarely conceeds a big bag which was one of our problems last year. Still has some tread on the tyres.
36. Dane. Nothing to prove, just had a bit of a run around, not much game time.
37. Rounds. Jebus!!! I got a little firm in the shorts watching this bloke. He looked little frail wearing the lid for the Falcons, he's a bloody tank now. Blistering pace and highly skilled, he could be a bolter on that display accross halfback and wing.
38. Reed. Played back six on different opponents and played well, if a spot opens up he could play seniors this year, another exiting youngster.
39. Heater. Typical game from him, ran hard and set thing ups from the back.
40. Bryza. Really got around the paddock, played some key forward and banged a couple of long goals when onball. And instead of just blindly jamming it on the boot was actually hitting targets.
43. Barham. Not much impact but he didn't look out of his depth when he was out there.
Rookies
Blair. Plenty of touches and can stop on a dime. His kicking has no penetration but apart from that and his size every thing else is there.
Francis. It's just a guess but I think he was on the red team and missed an easy set shot in the final minutes, not much game time.
Bennell. Sneaky forward pocket who has some tricks. Spent some time tracking Leon as a back pocket and had NFI. Skills are there but needs to get the workrate up and he may surprise.

There were a couple of guys on the red team who I couldn't identify so my apologies. My overall impression is I can't remember the last time we had so much young talent. The list is deep, they just need some together and in a couple of years we're going to be a scary proposition.

Go Pies
Regards Chip
