3 most important players that must be at their best are:

cooney- ball winner
murphy- vital link into our forward line
lake- take control of the backline like we all know he can

3 players I want to see tear the game apart:

akermanis- to all his critics and this guy is made for finals
griffen- this game will be his arrival as an elite player
morris- if he plays well the game will be ours for the taking

Anyone else want to see any particular player/s play well?????

I'm sensing a big game from Griff coming up..i think he will just rip it up in a big way.
Aker like others have said is made for finals footy and he too will produce a stellar effort and we need Brian to be at his creative best in the backline

My 3 most important are:

1. Hudson - must out muscle the hawks ruckman and give us the start from the middle

2. Akermanis - The most talented on our list and must raise to what we know he can do, a step ahead of most in our team.

3. Griffen - vital getting the ball out and also providing the dash our team needs to take on Hawthorn.

Our forwards will be tough for their backs to match up on, and their forwards will provide us with a huge amount of headaches. The game will be won through the opportunities for the forwards each midfield will be able to create.

If we are to win then our midfielders need to pay more attention to the opposition midfielders than they have over the last six weeks. Guys like Boyd, Cross, Eagleton, Ray and Higgens need to play with a defensive mindset, and offensive ball users like Cooney, Giansiracusa and Griffen need to use the ball well when they get it, because every opportunity they get will have to count as the Hawks will match them up tightly. But, Griffen and Cooney also need to curb the effectiveness of their markers because taggers these days can use the ball well

The team that can use the ball on the rebound effectively more often will win. Any wasted opportunity in this area will be exploited due to the limited opportunity forwards receive in finals.

I agree totaly.

For mine, our 3 most important players are
1- Hudson- we need to get first hands on the footy.
2- Griffen- needs to get his hands on it early and dominate out of the centre, if he does then Cooney will follow.
3- Murphy- needs to step up and give us a marking option up forward. When Bobby is on song we are on song.

Who will get Aker?

With the likelihood of Aker spending time in the middle, I wouldn't expect Brown, Osborne or Murphy to follow him. So he will either have two opponents or a midfielder will follow him wherever he goes. Sewell perhaps?

Based on the games today, the Hawks look to be winding up for september whilst the dogs struggled to find forward targets. The hawks have the ability to pile a lot of goals on quickly, and have also added another dimension to their forward line by moving Brown to the forward line which coupled with our depth, enables Hodge to be the most damaging he can be across halfback.

The Hawks will pump the Dogs!

Who will get Aker?

I like what Eade has done with Aker the last few weeks. By playing him as a tagger we decide his opponent. He could take Mitchell but what if we put him on someone like Clinton Young?

We can control the match up

What we must do is pressure their ball carriers and run at their zone. Players like Gilbee, Eagleton and Griffen need to run and put the ball past their defence.

Murph's lead up work and play on will also be important.

Yes, of course you will.

If we allow the cluster to stifle our run out of defence, we are doomed. We need to blitz the ball through halfback to break the cluster. In this regard, gilbee will be a vital player against the hawks.

I agree, this is the key. The game plan worked last time, but the Hawks will be ready this time. Eade has a big job to do, and he needs to because he has led the attitude problem. The 'cbf' attitude.

we weren't ready? probably not, we had about 5 or 6 of our running players out or playing injured last time. pretty hard to play a cluster when you haven't got players to move into their position.

the clusters not going to be the thing that you need to overcome. it's a finals game and you must be prepared to be put under intense pressure, as we will as well.

should be a good match to open the finals.

Gonna be an interesting game... Dogs will need to pull apart our cluster, we will need to pressure them a huge amount to make sure their disposal isn't as efficient as they want.

I think its going to be a great game, and I haven't got a lot of confidence going in.
