First Tigers game you saw live

I think about 1975 Richmond vs the Doggies at the MCG. The footy records were in black and white!!!!!!! I kept it for ages but I think I threw it out eventually. We always sat in the second tier behond the goals at the city end.

First game i went to was David Clokes last. We beat the pies i think and he was chaired off the ground. Can't remember much as a i was only 4 at the time.

Great memories, my first Richmond game as well! I was sitting in the expensive Adelaide members seats as they were donated to my family by Crows supporting friends. I remember being happy at the end of the game only because we didn't have our all time record loss!

It was probably a hint that we shouldn't have barracked for the Tiges ;)

rioli starred in that game was it the easter weekend ?
Yes, I was at that match too, our local footy club took a bus to it and I reckon your right that it was easter, gave it to me bomber mates on the way home. First match was probably 73-74 against Footscray at the G, What I remember was Royce Hart dominating, Tiges won.:thumbsu:

It was 1983, I was 7 years old and It was Kevin Bartlet's 400th against the scum.
I remember they kicked footy's into the crowd at the start of the game.
I was very upset I didn't get one.
I don't remember much else.

I think we lost.

My parents are European immigrants and as such my dad had little interest in the footy beyond the Saturday Night replay which we watched before The Penthouse Club with Mary Hardy started at 8:30pm. (Remember the crosses to the harness racing! Weird hey, live trotts on free to air tv on Sat nights!)
Anyway, dad obviously agreed to give me a footy experience and I remember catching the train to Vic Park station and watching the Tigers go down to the Pies, around 1970 I guess.
Standing in the outer with a throng of yelling and cheering yobs...
I remember I had a Tigers scarf knitted by my mum and my dad gave me lollies from the pocket of his parka. (No fast food from the kiosk for us)
Walking home from the station after the game, it was almost dark & I remember dad saying... "what a couple of huge football supporters we are".
And I believed him...

I remember my first match quite vividly. It was Round 16, 1998. Richmond vs Essendon. I went with my dad. I was 6. A few weeks before I had started following Richmond because one of my Prep friends did and I was excited as hell.
It was great, a big crowd of about 83,000. Apparently that match got the biggest crowd of the whole season. But at the time I didn't like it. I hated it in the last quarter when Essendon started to break away. The Essendon morons were shouting loudly and I started crying. We went home early with about 10 minutes to go in the final quarter.

Essendon did beat Richmond by about 3 goals I think, I can't remember the exact score.

That season Richmond went 11-0 in "home" matches but missed the finals due to their 1-10 "away" record.

The 2nd match I went to a few weeks later, Richmond beat Brisbane by 77 points. 24.11.155 to 11.12.78. I remember the score because for the rest of the day I was obsessed with singing the score out to the tune of some song.
"TWENTYFOUR ELEVEN ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTYFIVE TO ELEVEN TWELVE SEVENTYEIGHT!" or somethin like that

1982 it was round 3 or 4 against essendon i was 9 years old, scores were pretty even till 3 quater time then richmond went beserk in the last and kicked something like 10 goals in the last, i was standing behind the fence of the goals we were kicking too which made it even better.

That was the 90.000 game.

I was in the cheer squad in the upper deck southern stand for that one.

My best m8 at school was from Manchester but he loved Aussie Rules and the Tiges-I got him into em and he learnt very quickly-he got into Carlton more than I did lol-"piss of Smith" hehe(that umpire that used to give Carlton freekicks all the time lol).

i took him to that Essendon game-he loved it.

Funny hearing a Manchester accent yelling out "Flea you champion!"

He lives in Portland now I think.

Wherever you are , hi Henner.

My first ever live game was in 77 at the G against Collingwood.

My old man took me and it wasn't a good day .

We got thrashed.

Sat in the aisle ,upper deck northern stand-it was packed to the rafters.

I still rememeber the long red headed tiger fan with a shovel and bucket in his hand-classic.

LOL-you wouldn't be allowed to do that these days.

Up the Tigers!!!!

My first game also.

Anzac Day, 92,000+. Raines took a screamer (wearing #40) and we lost by 26 points.

Other memories - queues going back to the footbridge to get in on the southern stand side; 20c Footy Record; some old-fashioned crowd violence in the last quarter when it became obvious Richmond were beaten.

Yeah I was very young so I didn't remember much-I thought we lost by much more.

I remember being very depressed during the game.

I missed the 80 gf-watched it on tv but my whole family went to the Richmond Carlton final when kb kicked a bag and Roachy kicked 6.
